Don't sleep on the cafeteria food here. It's not your typical hospital food. Yes it is healthier options but it's also delicious. I work nearby so I often stop here when I want a healthy hot meal and the prices are not bad at all! It's affordable enough if you work here you can afford to eat here everyday. They have their usuals but also switch it up with specials. Nice they have grab and go options too. I delivered both my babies here and both were c-sections and I had a pleasant experience both times. I grew up around here so I've been going to ridges my whole life. I even had my emergency appendectomy here and it was great as far as surgeries go. Never had a bad experience. read more

The Burnsville fire department ambulance service took me out of my home without my permission and against my wishes, brought me to Ridges, where, after that one finally being put into a cold room, I was left for a good two hours with no blanket in the white clothes I wore when removed from my home. Finally, a nurse came in and threw a pair of socks on the bed.. then when I was discharged instead of getting a ride out of my car in a wheelchair, which is the customary protocol I had to walk the 50+ feet out of the car barefoot in the December winter, almost being hit by a car in the process. And they have the nerve to expect me to pay over $1000 for this.?? read more

I am impressed with the communication I received continuously throughout my loved one's procedure today. The nurses, doctors and other staff were pleasant, smiling, and attentive to our needs. I am writing this review as a visitor, not a patient I visited someone who had surgery in June 2021 and covid restrictions were still in place. Only 1 approved visitor for the duration of her stay, ID verified upon entry. I was pretty amazed by this hospital to be honest. The last hospital I was in as a visitor was out of state and paled in comparison to this one. All rooms are single bed (not sure if that's a covid thing or a standard). There is no "meal time"-- you get a sizable menu and simply call down when you're hungry. Something so basic but totally makes a difference in quality of life for someone recovering and who shouldn't be woken up for an arbitrary meal time especially if they aren't hungry in that moment. From what I was told, the staff were all great. They encourage you to call them if you need something but otherwise you're given as much uninterrupted time to rest as possible. Parking is easy and right outside the main entrance door. Most importantly someone that I care about had a successful surgery, great aftercare, and is well on her way to a full recovery. read more

My special needs brother had a long term stay here. I did everything I could to make it easy for staff. All information was added to the board but they ordered meals that he couldn't eat without choking. He wasn't bathed unless we took care of it (and I had a bunch of supplies in the bathroom). We covered most lunches and dinners but found if we weren't there his food wasn't cut up. Even the transfer out was messed up. Nursing staff and aides were compassionate but busy. One nurse kept muttering that she was so busy when asked to assist with toileting. Luckily she wasn't assigned back to his room. I used to like Fairview but after so many issues with this visit and past ER visits we won't be back. read more

Well to start out with I had to wait 6 hrs for a unit of blood when my level was at a 4.2, then no one would give me food while i was there, they pushed it so far i had stay overnight and a nurse at 4 am decided to stab the middle of my arm, pinch a nerve and now my shoulder needs rehab. I was told i couldn't leave and ran out of there, they can't draw blood 3 4 times later and it like oh too soon it still frozen from the transfusion i barley got like no communication more issues. On Tuesday December 30, 2025, my husband was taking to M Health Fairview Ridges Emergency Room by Ambulance. He was involved in a work accident and was unable to sit/stand/walk for 24 hours. He was in immense amount of pain, and no pain medications were helping. The Doctor that was on his case took over 3 hours to come and see him after I had arrived at the hospital to come and speak to us about his plan of treatment. My husband had attempted to stand up a couple times while in the ER and was unsuccessful every time. We voiced our concerns about the inability to stand/sit/walk to the Doctor, and he did not care to hear what was voiced. I advocated to get an MRI and/or X-Ray and the Doctor refused to do any testing and continued to give pain medication after pain medication, while none of them were working. I told the Doctor that we wanted to be transferred to another hospital where they will do the necessary testing to rule out anything majorly wrong with his spine/spinal cord. The Doctor continued to dismiss our concerns and still refused testing. The Doctor left as it was the end of his shift, and a PA came onto his case. She immediately ordered an MRI and for him to be admitted overnight for observation as it had been 8 hours since he was able to get up. He was taken up to outpatient observation to stay overnight and was placed in a shared room. We live hours away and I had driven up from work to be there; I was planning on staying the night and no one had talked to me about anything else concerning me staying the night. He had been sleeping heavily with all the pain medications being thrown at him with little to no relief and was unable to hold conversation or stay awake. The other patient that was in the shared room with him had his nurse come in and rip his curtain back and snottily ask if I was staying and if I had gotten it approved. I had told her that I was planning on staying and that no one had come to talk to me otherwise about it. She then went to get his nurses, and I was kicked out the hospital at 11pm. I had nowhere to go and ended up sleeping in my car until the next morning when I went in at 7:50am. We have never been treated this bad at a hospital as how it was when he was there. We do not appreciate the Doctor dismissing our concerns because he was more worried about radiation from the X-Ray than my husband's own wellbeing and getting better. He had also refused to transfer him to another hospital when he was not receiving the best care he could have been somewhere else. I have never been so disappointed in the care received from a hospital than what we both experienced here. read more

I am entering hour #4 in the ER waiting room. I am here because I tested positive for Covid, had a blood ox dip down to 84%, had a 126 resting pulse and blacked out 3 times. Yes I know they are spread thin, yes I know we are in a pandemic, yes I know that there are ambulances coming in... here I sit coughing (unintentionally) on other people who are not here for Covid and are seated legitimately 10 inches from me (as triage is intermingling Covid positive people with the elderly and injured). The facilities need to be updated, they need a digital cue on a tv to keep all of the Karens from going up and bothering registration and they need to give realistic expectations on times. (Not to manage triage told me that I was going to be hooked up to an ekg or something to monitor my heart). I had surgery, performed at M Health Fairview Ridges in Burnsville MN. Performed by Dr. Cody Pratt. This was surgery I needed done for 2 inguinal hernias. This took place in November of 2023. I followed Dr. Pratt's instructions to the tee. I didn't lift anything over 15 pounds at all for over 4 weeks after surgery. Even after that, I was very careful in slowly going back to my normal activities. Over the course of November 2023 leading up to August of 2024, I was intermittently in pain and my stomach definitely didn't feel right. So I scheduled a follow up appointment at M Health Fairview Ridges in Burnsville, to find out what was going on. As it turned out, Cody Pratt was no longer working there. He had relocated and was somewhere outside of Minnesota. So I was seen by one of his colleagues. I explained to his colleague that I was having intermittent pain and that the middle of my stomach (one of the surgery entry points) was poking out abnormally. This f##king guy had the nerve to tell me, "if it doesn't hurt I wouldn't worry about it". Fast forward to recently. The end of February 2025. I finally said F this and scheduled an appointment with a completely different network and a brand new doctor. Well guess what? I needed another surgery! Apparently Cosy Pratt didn't patch me up as well as he could have and due to this? I had a new hernia now! In the middle of my stomach where he had initially entered to perform the surgery. So I had the surgery to repair his faulty surgery on March 12th 2025. So far, I'm doing fine. I've already gone through the 4 week recovery period and had a follow up appointment and my new doctor said everything looks good and is healing properly. In the meantime? I've called SEVERAL attorneys in an attempt to get someone to represent me and get SOME compensation for the pain and suffering, not to mention the possibility that MY STOMACH COULD HAVE RUPTURED. Pretty good Hospital located in the south suburbs of Minneapolis where I have been on a number of occasions because this is the area where my friends in Minnesota live, and one of them is prone to needing hospitals. If I could post zero stars I would. If you have heart issues don't walk run from this hospital as fast as you can. They will kill you. They only care about your labs and your weight here. Their CORE Clinic blatantly ignored my fiancé's concerns for three solid months, and repeated statements of not being able to eat due to an infection in his mouth. Even with myself and his mother telling them the same thing. Took 5 weeks and a trip to urgent care to get a thrush diagnosis and treatment started. But by then the infection had taken hold. By the time we got to month three of issues, he had no voice, his breathing was laborers, and his right leg had suddenly swelled up so bad he couldn't even put a shoe on much less stand on it. Their solution? Up the Lasik dosage. Nevermind that a quick Google search, along with their own discharge paperwork, tells you this is a serious concern that needs addressed immediately. But his labs were good that day so they sent him home. He was dead two weeks later from accumulation of clots. read more

My grandmother scheduled an elective back surgery for pain relief. There were several red flags leading up to the surgery but she insisted because her pain was so severe and she just wanted some relief. Nothing seemed organized and surgery kept being rescheduled but the communication with staff behind the scenes didn't match up. Dr Kim, performed surgery and only gloated about how quickly he performed the surgery. This was two weeks ago, my grandmother was discharged without anyone scheduling a follow up appointment. She was sent to a transitional care unit where they informed me the folks at Fairview didn't even complete her paperwork. read more

I was nearly killed by a pompous, arrogant triage nurse who stood by numerous inaccuracies in information and refused to listen to me ladt night. I presented to the ER with severe difficulty breathing, severe dehydration, a loss of 10 percent of my body weight in 24 hours, and severe nausea and vomiting. I told the nurse that I had food poisoning, and could no breathe, and that my blood sugars were not coming down. She proceeded to put a pulsox on my finger and tell me she could give me Zofran if I sat in the lobby and waited five hours. I told her that the pulsox is inaccurate if a paient is hyperventilating due to acidosis and asked her to check my blood sugar. She refused and told me that the pulsox is related to blood oxygen and has nothing to do with ventilation....that's completely wrong and I got angry with her at this point and asked her where she went to nursing school...she told me that i needed to listen to her ad that the reason I was feeling sick was because of my rate of breathing, I asked for her name and she interrupted me eith that I needed to listen to er because I'm not understanding. I told her once more that I wanted her name because I wanted to fucking leave and that I was going to report her, and she said "that's it, if you're going to swear at me, you're done." Followed by "you can wait in the lobby or you can leave". I chose the ladder and passed out in the parking lot trying to get into my mother's car. We went to southdale and I was treated immediately for life threatening DKA. They did an EKG and found prolonged QT, meaning that Zofran could have killed me, as could have waiting five hours in a lobby. The triage nurse refused to give me her name, but she was morbidly obese. read more

I apologize this is going to be a lengthy review. This is just a copy and paste of an email that I sent to hopefully the person that runs the emergency room there. I went to Fairview riches ER On Wednesday November 16th because I was experiencing more GI bleeding. I had just been released from the hospital there a week before with a GI bleed with acute blood loss anemia. I went back because I had a large bloody bowel movement and I was extremely dizzy and weak and could not walk on my own. I got brought back right away and put into a room inside the ER. While I was getting my CT scan done, the CT scan operator comes out and says her covid test is positive. After that everything changed. They took me back to my ER room and I was ignored for the next several hours. And when I say ignored I mean ignored. I had my call light on for sometimes over an hour at the time and people would just walk by and not answer it. I finally got in such a panic that I took off the heart monitor that they had put on me , meaning I took off the sticky pieces and unsnap them. I put my call light on And nobody came in for over an hour. I think it must have been shutting my car light off from the nurse's desk because I would look at my call light and it would be off again. I spiked a fever of a 102.4 And they just left me in that room. When the nurse would come in the room she would be mad at me and say that she had sicker people to take care of and that I was just not sick enough to worry about, these were her exact words and she would shut the door as I was still trying to talk to her and crying hysterically at the same time. Somehow my car light ended up on the floor in the corner. There's no way I could have gotten it there since I couldn't have even gotten out of bed. So I was trying to get to it and I fell down out of my bed and landed on the floor I crawled to the light and put it on and lay there for 45 minutes before a nurse came in. And before she even checked to see if I was OK she began to reprimand me about getting out of bed on my own and treated me like I was a two-year-old child getting grounded. I begged for nausea medicine and pain medicine. They brought me pain pills which was fine by me what do you did not bring me any nausea medicine so I took the pain pills and within 5 minutes I threw them up and they accuse me of throwing them up on purpose so that I could get iv pain medicine. I was absolutely horrified. I was locked in this little room unable to get out of bed, nobody was monitoring me as was obvious when I took off my heart monitor and they never Even noticed it after over an hour, and nobody would answer my call light. My boyfriend came back to see how I was doing and I had a seizure and they did nothing for it. They woke me up out of my post ictal state, Even though my boyfriend warned them that if they did this that I would wake up angry and wild and irrational. They still woke me up and this is exactly what happened. I woke up and my brain just was not working and honest-to-God I thought they were aliens and all kinds of weird things are going through my head which is normal for someone who has just had a seizure. They would not give me any medicine to calm me down or to help treat my post ictal headache which is very severe any time I get one. For the rest of my year's day before I was brought to my room I just consigned to the fact that I was not going to get any help at all. When I did get to my room on the 2nd floor, the nurse was very very angry because she did not get report on me that I was so sick and decompensated quickly and she was worried that they were going to have to send me to the ICU. The reason I went to your hospital in the 1st place was because of my continued rectal bleeding. My Hemagoblin on arrival was 13. on Thursday morning when they rechecked it, it was 9.7. I was having terrible stomach cramping and nausea. My creatinine had risen to 1.65 and my urine was showing 9/hpf Hylan casts and I was leaking Protein from my kidneys. My AST and ALT were elevated, one in the triple digits and my CRP was over 13. They were not concerned about that at all. At about one clock, the hospitalist came in and said that I wasn't sick enough to stay in the hospital with covid and that I was young and I would recover and that I could go home , not once concerned about the GI bleeding that I was having or that my hemoglobin had dropped almost 4 g in less than 24 hours. The nurse had given me some oral pain medicines which I was so glad to get at that point I would have taken anything for pain. I kept them down for about 5 minutes and then I threw them up. The Dr. acted like I could do this on command. Like I did it on purpose. How does one throw up on purpose? She said that I had just eaten lunch and I did not throw up, but that was untrue I took a few bites of my ice cream and that was all I could take of my lunch. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. read more

Was hospitalized twice for cellulitis in April 2021 and August 2021, and their billing department is absolute garbage in how they've been dealing with my wife and our insurance. They come off as if they try to get more than what they're owed, don't understand or acknowledge our insurance (Lucent Health), and don't want to work out real solutions with us, our advocates or care coordinators. It definitely seems as though they just want all of their clients/patients to go into as much debt as they can get out of them. read more

I was referred to the Fairview Ridges Pain Clinic for a spinal shot on June 20 2023, he said they had 2 very good Doctors. The same day I confirmed with Blue Cross that I did not preapproval or anything. June 21st Fairview sent my Dr. a request for more information to contact me that his assistant faxed over (I am already in their system having surgery and a one night stay at Southdale 2 months before? Anyway several weeks went by and no phone call to set up I call my Neurologist office to see what is going on, she said they claimed not to have everything they need yet. I physically went to the Fairview Pain of a check in desk, I very cold customer service rep lied about several parts of the referral that they only take Fairview Dr, except for shots, I said I was to get a shot at S1, Then she said they had not gotten all my contact (faxed twice already), so I put my 2 insurance cards and drivers licence under the glass, she would not not even p ick them up to look at them and said she needs a faxed copy of them from my Dr. July 13 I saw my neurologist again about the burning pain in my feet (since early June) and new burning up my left leg and very frequent urination. I also asked why I was not getting a call from Fairview. His assistant checked and said they were checking my insurance. I went the 2 blocks to the Fairview Pain desk again and that customer service person was nicer but full of excuses and lies. I asked my DR. for a referral to a different pain clinic and got an appoint to get the shot in 2 working days. I was recently admitted to FRH via the ER for what ended up being a gall bladder attack. I was a patient for 6 days. The rooms here are very nice, it's almost like a hotel. They are all private and very spacious, with plenty of room for friends and family to visit. The nurses and other staff were all really nice. Unfortunately I have had more than my fair share of hospital stays and of everywhere I've been (including North Memorial, Fairview Riverside and Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles) this hospital was definitely the nicest. read more

Very professional care. This is where they did my Acid Reflux surgery and they did a great job. I would recommend that procedure to anyone suffering from Acid Reflux. I went from terrible symptoms that medication couldn't control any more and now I don't have any symptoms! My quality of life went way up! Thank you! The nurses were friendly and spot on. I was being seen for work related injury and arrived via ambulance. I just want to say this has been by far the best experience at a hospital in a long time. Everyone was so friendly and kind upon arrival. Things in the ER seemed to be running smoothly and efficiently. I was seen within 5 mins at the ER and got X rays within 10-15 mins. I usually hate/ am very scared of hospitals for all the reasons I loved your above. Your staff was beyond respectful and very genuine. You're the only hospital I will attend from now on. My friend is immune compromised and we had to leave. Not before a patient was harassing everyone, and they did nothing to stop it. There were people who needed help ASAP like bleeding head. Currently waiting in the ER waiting room for hour #4, brought in my girlfriend for a blood clot from surgery and have seen multiple people go past us when we came in before them. I've been in this hospital 6 times this year alone. The one thing that is always constant is the wonderful nursing and support staff. That includes the aids, the blood techs, the room cleaners, etc. Always friendly and treat me with care and respect. The doctors are also very good. They listen to what I have to say and always let me decide on my care. The only downer is the food. The food was much better before the U of M took over. Now it's bland, poorly put together and most of the time over cooked. The last time I ordered cooked carrots, they were so mushy it was shameful. Even the side salad was nasty brown lettuce. No more fresh baby carrots. Just cooked mushy crap. I'm very disappointed in the food service. read more

Had been impressed with my stay at Fairview Ridges but am now extremely disappointed. I was asked to move rooms to accommodate other patients, which I naively agreed to. I was then moved from a large, quiet, and very comfortable room to a bright orange room in the pediatric unit where there wasn't even a real door. No way to block the light from the hallway, less room, and a far lower level of quality and comfort. Hard to sleep and feel this affected my healing. I talked with others and this is a very common occurrence. read more

They dropped my glasses at the bottom of my patient bag then threw my shoes and clothes on top, they snagged my ivy lines in the gurney wheels, then put me in ICU for 2 days, then suddenly they had to transfer me to Southdale! Really bad patient relations, sent me a letter stating they have regular soda, cranberry juice available upon request! Total BS none avail no fresh fruit, box meals but they said they could be request ed total bs! They left me with no food from 9:50 Sunday night until 8:00 am The Tuesday morning! To top that off had to fast for an angiogram, then put into my bed and then transferred to a gurney left on that for 3 hrs from r dialysis instead of rolling my bed down! I've been going to Fairview clinics and the Burnsville hospital for about two decades for lesser/minor medical appointments and issues.. However, I just got my appendix removed ("just" as in this morning) at Fairview Ridges. The entire staff (nurses, EMT, surgeon, etc.) were second to none in bedside manner. All had great senses of humor and really took the dread that someone might have out of a spontaneous surgery. So, aside from basically saving a life, they did so with a smile on their faces and put one on mine as well. Much love to their entire team/crew! read more

I check in the emergency room last night.First the girl at the admissions desk was sitting down at her deck while she called my name. Wow!! sitting to greet me, huh.? Literally sitting down, then she got up and walk me back to the rooms. Lab tech could not find my vein So Kim poke around didn't get any blood pull out my meat from inside.Now it stings where she poke me am bruised and sore from where she try to draw blood from.At this poke am feeling on the edge.The nurses was all rude.They were talking very loud standing around they were couple of steps from my room 8,talking about dinner dates. when i needed assistant,they turn off my nurse call and didnt even come to check so i had to push it again.when I left they gave me cold looks That evening staff was horrible. Mean uncompassionate even the ER Doc chris seem to not know my symptoms.Was not that great. What was it?? My race My symptoms.It saddens me to see that some of the nurses and the people that work at the hospital and ER are assholes!! read more

I was admitted through er quite quickly. Everyone I encountered besides one witch of a nurse in er made me feel like I was in the right hands. Got transferred to a room for a week or so and my time there could not have been made more comfortable by the staff. Nurses, doctors, everyone who checked up on me made me feel very well cared for. Exceptional. I'll hold them all in my hearts with my experience until the day I die. It was one of the worst times of my life and was in isolation but they made me feel hopeful.
