Stop by for lunch today with the family. We got the falafel platter and the gyro platter so that we could share. With the student discount and a drink our total came out to about $30, which I think is a pretty good deal. I have to agree with a lot of the comments here in saying that the falafel is really good. The falafel was nice and moist, not dry at all and that perfect balance of like crumbly, but still able to maintain it shape. It appeared really well with the rice and the sauce. Speaking of which, sauces. They do not skip. My only complaint about the platter is that there aren't a ton of veggies/salad, but that's really not that big of a deal. The veggies are pretty good though, they've got a sauce and seasoned well. The gyro platter itself was pretty good, I actually really liked that the meat isn't shaved, rather it's cubed. It makes the meat feel and taste a lot more tender and juicy, as I find the shaved meat can run a little dry. Not much to say about service or ambience, as I wasn't really there for that or really paying attention. The person that was running the register was kind enough. These two definitely cheaper and better to go to than Royal Kabob. Falafel Corner is more take-outey less homey vibes, less vegetables. Hummus has less rich taste, but as a non Middle Eastern person I think it's still authentic, just more take out vibe. Compared to Sam's, less bread but good especially when hot, no red sauce, more meat, less vegetables, less flavorful rice. Run, don't walk, to go try Falafel corner. The shop seems unassuming from the outside, a bit hidden between the surrounding businesses, but this new restaurant is an absolute gem among dining experiences in Davis. We were greeted warmly, and the man at the counter immediately started in friendly conversation with us, answering any questions about the menu, and giving us some background on the companies origins in Sacramento. He told us that their other location had gained a reputation for how good their falafel was, and he was not lying. The falafel wrap I ordered was genuinely one if the best I've ever had - the falafel was freshly made, warm, flavorful, full of sauces (tzatziki, hummus, and tahini) that I very genuinely was ready to lick off the paper. The pita was also warm and soft, and the entire wrap came together so nicely, if a bit messily, for a filling, tasty, might-need-a-fork kind of meal. My partner ordered the chicken platter and was similarly very impressed by how soft the pita was, and yummy the sauces were. He specifically complimented the spices and seasoning on the chicken, saying it made him want to find the recipe. Falafel corner has hands down become my number one spot for Mediterranean Food in Davis within one visit, which is not a common experience for me, but I am so glad we decided to try their food. Really solid. Ever since Halal Guys closed I've been looking for something to scratch that itch. This does it. The food is tasty, comes in large portions, and isn't too expensive (especially with the student discount which knocked off $2). Also, to the guy who left a one star review about the bathrooms: Health and Safety Code Section 118500 only applies to government establishments. This is a private business, so they don't have to obey Section 118500. Maybe there's another law out there that mandates bathroom access, but it's not that one. read more

Summary: Falafel Corner is an excellent addition to Davis' food scene. The food here is fresh, no gimmicks, and delicious. Surprisingly, one of the best burger spots in town, and the falafel is crispy, fresh, and is not going to leave you feeling too heavy. Taste/Flavor: I've tried the Badmash Burger, Cheese Burger, Chicken Sandwich, and Falafel Platter. The burgers have a wonderful classic taste to them. Raw white onion, lettuce, tomato, well cooked patty, and cheese. What you would imagine from a diner in a classic movie and tasting great. The food always comes out hot and fresh and you can see the cooks making it. The Chicken Sandwich has crispy pieces of chicken and the same additions as their burgers. I was really surprised at how great their burgers were and they don't leave you feeling too oily and heavy. The Falafel Platter was also really great. It came with a large fresh piece of pita bread, salad, hummus, and a generous portion of falafel. The falafel was really great because the contrast of crispy fried texture on the outside and really fluffy and light interior. Value: Great value for money. This place can be enjoyed by students and non-students alike. Two entrees and a side added up to be about $30.00 with tax and tip included (about $10.00 per standard burger). Seating: There are two tables for 4/5 and two tables for 2-3 inside. Outside has 2 tables that can seat 4/5. Atmosphere: the owners and employees are extremely warm and welcoming. They accommodate customizations to dishes as well. You'll instantly feel welcome when you arrive. I was in Davis for the first time in a while since I graduated from UCD and decided to try Falafel Corner. It was amazing!!! I'm sad that there are currently no locations in the Bay Area! I will definitely come back the next time I visit Davis. We got the falafel platter and the badmash burger. BEST falafel I've ever had-- crispy on the outside and soft on the inside without being mushy or too oily. The badmash burger was one of the best burgers I've had as well. It was perfectly cooked and juicy, and the fried egg and bacon complemented the burger nicely. I loved the addition of thousand island and spicy sauce. The food here is amazing value! The falafel platter and burger were about $13 each and my boyfriend and I were really full and satisfied. It was an amazing meal for 2 for $30. They have many options for different preferences, and the falafel is delicious and a great vegetarian option. It's a very casual and small space with a few tables inside. The service was super friendly. They welcomed us in, asked us how the food was, and thanked us when we left. You order and pick up food at the counter. Water and utensils are self-serve. Tried to accommodate best they can w short notice. I don't recommend last minute stuff because they didn't have enough meat since they make that daily. My husband and I frequent Falafel Corner in Sacramento so we were pleasantly surprised to see a location pop up in Davis! My go order is the gyro platter, they give such a generous amount of food, if you get the flatter you'll most likely need to get a too go box. I was so excited to see that they opened a spot up in Davis, especially given the lack of halal spots in the area. I really like their falafel. I am picky with falafel as it's usually too oily, and I have eaten a lot of falafel and have my preferences (of course everyone has different preferences for a falafel, so other people may not like it). Usually I look for a falafel that is crispy on the outside, has good flavor, and isn't too oily. Falafel corner does a pretty good job. I would say they could improve the fluffiness of the inside of the falafel, but overall it tastes quite good as it is and I will continue to eat there. I like the falafel platter. It is a good price, good amount of food, the falafels taste good, and it comes with a simple but tasty salad, hummus, rice, and bread. I will say they could improve on a few things. First, with regards to packing to go orders, it would probably be better to package the falafel separately so it doesn't steam inside the container. The salad is good, but I would like more of it. They should give options to swap sides, like no hummus extra salad for example. It would be a nice customization option. The chicken shawarma was okay, but it wasn't the flavor I'm used to. The spices they used seem different from the typical chicken shawarma. Some people may prefer this, in my case I'll stick with the falafel. I like that they have lots of options for getting different middle eastern foods or burgers and fries. I was wondering if it is halal, because I noticed they have bacon on the menu. One of my relatives eats halal foods, so if he came to visit I would want to be sure. I know some bacon is halal (beef bacon), but I would like to know if that is halal or if the other meats are halal. Even if it's not, I would still keep going personally because I don't follow a halal diet, but it would be good to know before bringing relatives that do. One thing I really liked about their salad was that it was really simple. It has no cream dressing or anything. Just olive oil and sumac, and maybe something else but I didn't notice. This makes me feel like I ate a salad. If I eat a salad with unhealthy dressing, I may as well have eaten an ice cream cone with my salad. And it makes it heavy. I like that they have a simple salad that tastes good with the platter. Their bread is quite tasty as well. I would like to see more drink options. It would be really nice if one could order a strawberry or date milkshake with the falafel wrap and fries. That would be like the perfect "treat yourself" lunch. TLDR: Falafel corner is quite good. I like their falafel and their platter. It's good food, with good portions and a good price. I would definitely go again to order the falafel. It does have room for improvement, but I enjoyed it enough where I think it deserves a solid 4 stars. read more

Still love this place - however, there's recently been some new employees and the food is pretty inconsistent now. I believe it was the owner and their family who were there primarily until recently. Ive been here many times. Today I ordered a Greek salad with chicken and asked for some falafel as well. I was charged 6.99 for the salad, and rung up twice for adding chicken and one was noted to add falafel; $4.99 x2 ($17 total). My coworker got a rice bowl and added falafel as well and was charged $2.99 for the falafel. We each ended up getting two pieces so I was charged extra. Not sure why. This time the chicken in my salad was EXTREMELY saucy which is not normal. It was much spicier than normal, which is fine because tend I order it extra spicy but this is the first time it's been wet with sauce. I'll still be back because it's one of my fav places to grab a bite to eat while at work but I'll be selective on what days depending on who is working. I would like to add that I did say something while I was being rung up, I asked about the falafel and was told the extra chicken charge was for that.
