I brought it in, and he was able to get it off even though it was cross-threaded, at no charge. I've also brought him a couple Olympus lenses to look at, one of which he immediately knew would need to be sent away (Olympus parts cannot be ordered, so if it needs parts vs. just cleaning, it needs to go back to the manufacturer). The other lens, he called me the day after I dropped it off, and also identified it needed to be sent away for repair. I needed it back for a wedding I was shooting soon, and was cutting it very close by sending it away. Due to other commitments, I knew I wasn't going to be able to pick it up until close to his closing time and the cut-off time for the courier. When I arrived, Barry had packaged it up in a box with bubble wrap and packing paper so I could just pick it up and drop it off at the courier! Talk about going above and beyond. He has yet to accept any payment for his diagnosis of my lenses, so I always try to buy something else while I'm in there. When I was looking for old film cameras to use as decor at our wedding, he gave me a bunch that were no longer usable but still nice to look at. So if you want to deal with a friendly camera repairman who will tell you it like it is, and has a great selection of equipment and other accessories, Barry at the Camera House is your guy!
