I couldn't find the wooden statue of Merlin yesterday which is supposed to stand here perhaps it has been removed for renovation or repair. I had voluntered as my wife has not received the 3rd (booster jab) yet and I am not as au fait as my wife in finding the necessary aisle and product so after two hours of Christmas shopping I was struggling. I am after all 68 yrs old and have had 3 hip operations in recent years. Then a miracle happened. Maureen apeared and asked me if I needed any help so in no time at all the remaining dozen os so items that I could not find were in my basket. This is quite a big store and it doesnt feel as squashed as some stores. The coffee shop is indeed an assett and always seems to have a steady flow of custom. There is little room to pass between racks of clothing which is unnecessary considering the size of the building. The staff work quickly and efficiently and are polite. I have been to smaller and better branches of New Look elsewhere. The store itself offers good value for money and the dresses are particularily lovely and last very well considering how little they cost.

There is a tiny clothes section at the back but I always manage to find something I love there. The clothes are not cheap but they have a slight luxurious boutique feel to them and you know you are getting something a bit more unique than your average high street shop buy. They also stock plenty of cards and gift wrap free for you so you could effectively buy a whole present in this shop. One thing I did notice is some very nice belts in the store that I got in Bali a year ago for about 1/10 of the price but this is London I guess! Multipazz does have a website but I don't think it does it justice- this boutique is worth seeing in the flesh.

At night the town is deserted, but comes to life in the day with market stalls and a great selection of small independent shops. A great effort had been made with the festive decorations, and every street was festooned with twinkling lights, lovely Christmas trees dotted around the town making it look so magical. Sadly that is where it ended, as I was followed around the shopping area by a security man who seemed to be on every corner looking at us, eventually after hours of being followed I was approached and asked what I was doing, apparently you are NOT PERMITTED to take photographs in this town. I asked where the sign was saying this was the case; I was taken and shown a sign high up a lamppost (which even when shown the sign I could not see the no camera rule) but with a logo the size of a postage stamp it did say cameras not allowed. What a way to treat visitors! I will never return to this town and in a climate where shops are closing weekly due to recession it seems a very sad way to treat visitors, I got in my car a left the town. I feel the residents and business owners need to address this problem if you wish to attract visitors to Wales

I had expected a lot more from a £74m project - it's not even undercover! There's a 950 space car park at the back and it's also very close to the town centre, so easy to find if on foot.

When you get in store there is a very little you can actually see and there's an expection from staff that if you've come in you must actually want to buy something. Their desire to sell items borders desperation and I felt uncomfortable on both occasions that I visited the store. As far as quality is concerned their selection cannot be rivalled in Carmarthen.

I've had experiences with 2 young girls that work there, and I couldn't fault either of them. They weren't too pushy, and listened to my needs then offered advice, and brought a few items at a time out, and seemed careful not to confuse me with too much choice. I didn't feel there was a "hard sell" a lovely independant jeweller, really enjoyed my shopping experience there. The shop has had a lovely re-fit since the last time I visited, it looks really classy now, with much better lighting than before. In fact, things may have changed…read moresince their reviews were written because this week I noticed many cards reduced in price and a whole rack of good quality cards for many occasions on sale for £1. You will find lovely wrapping paper, bows and boxes for attractive packaging too. There are also many nice gifts to be found in here including soft toys, celebration glasses and individual birthday cakes and there is a good range of small items such as fancy pens, balloons and key rings. You can buy gift cards here as well to be used in many other stores (not only Clinton Cards) and coloured picture postcards of the area hang in the doorway. I found the member of staff who helped me yesterday very pleasant and helpful; she went upstairs to the stock room to search for something which I was looking for, and came back downstairs with exactly the right thing!

Matalan occupies a large building on the outskirts of Carmarthen. It has a good selection of womens…read moreclothing, womens shoes, sportswear, menswear, childrenswear, items for the home and a small selection of jewellery. Generally the quality of items is good, except for the jewellery which lasts hours. When I recently returned an item of jewellery a staff member confirmed they regurally have jewellery returned and have a box under the counter especially for returned jewellery due to the amount that is returned. The store occasionally appears a little messy but is generally well set out. There are regurally queues at the till, despite there being around 10 tills. During Christmas the queue becomes ridiculously long. A good selection of items but I'd only recommend shopping here if you need a few things and have the time to spare queuing.
