I like that they display your x-rays on the screen right in front of you so that you can see what is going on. They are a bit cautious in wanting to make sure on thing, which is okay, but feel free to turn down services if you think it is not needed. They won't be offended. They work well with most all direct billing insurance services. They are very flexible with time too. The one thing that I hope that they can get soon is another Dental Hygienist because when we were there they just had the one and I feel she is got more on her plate than she can handle, but super sweet and enjoys what she does. They also speak a variety of Asian languages if you are looking for someone to help in that area, Korean and Chinese being some. Seems like a great team and happy to go back in the summer.

A cheapskate father and then a widowed mother pretty much ensured I would have crooked teeth for life, and then after my wisdom teeth were pulled, the problem got worse. After I was widowed, I decided to take a giant step. The first ortho I went to wouldn't let me do anything but Invisalign, which doesn't really work with my lifestyle (constant noshing and coffee drinking while working from home). I wanted real braces because we're all wearing face masks now anyway and the treatment time is shorter, but because I'd had a root canal and several crowns, she was insistent. Also, she wouldn't touch me until I had a special x-ray to determine if my TMJ/jaw arthritis was still active. Since that was $8500 for the braces and another $6000 for the x-ray (out of pocket!), I walked. I am not spending almost $15K on my teeth. I told my dentist I was considering SmileDirect, and she begged me not to, because of the real damage I could do to my bite, possible teeth falling out etc, and she spooked me. She told me to try Pure instead because they were more reasonable. I did, and paid $6200 right upfront. WAY better. I'm the only person over 40 in the entire office (including the doctors!), and the SpongeBob and Powerpuff Girls and whatnot are entertaining on the TV when I go in, but I far prefer it to my old snaggle-tooth look. I had to go in once for a very painful piece of toothbrush bristle stuck (I thought I'd busted a wire!), and I go in next month for my first tightening. No charge for that, as part of routine maintenance. If you bust or lose brackets, it's usually no sweat, unless you do it constantly. After about 5, then they have to start charging. I love looking in the mirror and seeing my really ugly protruding tooth on my bottom row has finally been tamed and is no longer going on walkabout away from all its buddies. SO excited to see how my smile will look after this and getting them whitened afterward! Thanks, Pure!

My son had a lot of work done on his teeth . Brett did a lot of filling and rebuilt some teeth and took some out. He was so good with him . What surprised me most that he actually took the time after hours to call me at home to see how my son was doing. For such a young man to really care about his patients is nice to see. I was left waiting in my hot car. I waited for well over an hour,for the staff to let me know I could come in, after sending me a message to wait for them to let me know when the room was ready. I watched the staff throw out garbage and leave for the day. There was no communication from the staff about the delay. When I text as well as called the office leaving a message, it was ignored. I left a message for the dentist to call me back with an explanation, it was also ignored. Not only did I not receive the service, I am out of half a days wage. This is not the first time Dr Baines has left the office when I had an appointment. Last time was her sons graduation. I'm guessing she knew well in advance her son was graduating and could have rescheduled my appointment. My time is valuable, and it's disheartening to see a Dental office that doesn't respect that. I won't be returning and cannot recommend this practice to anyone who values good service.

The fact that I had just gotten paid was the only reason I could afford to pay them, since you know, I'm a student aka poor! Though the receptionist told me my insurance cheque would take no longer than a week (its been 9 days now...) The first appt was ok, Dr. Sekhon seemed very knowledgeable and actually went through all my xrays with me. Turns out I apparently need a crown (EEK!-$$$) after I have my wisdom teeth removed. (OUCH+$$$). My second appt was just a cleaning, the hygienist seemed very knowledgeable as well, and thorough. She was also very nice. The service was good for the most part, however I have literally been sick to my stomach, not knowing whether or not I'll be able to pay my rent on time because of 2 dentist appts. Unfortunately for this reason I will be switching dentists, there is no way I can afford to be paying $450 up front for each appt, and then $1800 for a crown. I really don't understand why all places can't do direct billing.

There have been times I came for a check up and I had a few issues and instead of waiting weeks to come back for a cavity the dentists made room and time to do it immediately . I was impressed ! Dealing with them and my Insurrance is easy and pain free . The dentists and other staff are all friendly and happy ! They even treat kids and teenagers differently ! I was surprised at some of the grab bags they gave my kid when they came home ! Awesome place recommend it !

I have been going to Petrolia Dental for two years now, and am still somewhat undecided as to how I feel about them. First off, I love how easy it is to schedule appointments at the office. My previous dentist required booking at least eight months ahead of time for cleanings and it was such a headache when you got within a month of your appointment only to find out you had a scheduling conflict. My first check-up last year went well, and I felt comfortable returning to the office for a couple of fillings. I felt like the staff was friendly and competent and that the office was clean and welcoming. My second visit earlier this year was less than stellar. My cleaning was very pleasant, but the dentist was running behind and I had to sit and chat with my hygenist for 45 minutes while waiting for my check-up. When Dr. Varughese finally got to see me, she was very agitated at how behind she was, and spent exactly two minutes on my mouth (there was a clock behind her on the wall). She told me I needed fillings and started to leave, and I had to ask her to stay to explain to me where the fillings were, and how many were needed. It was kind of a burn to pay for a check-up and feel like I was barely looked at. The fillings went ok. Afterwards I had a massive headache and the next morning my gums were bruised black and purple where they had done the filling. It was nearly a week before the swelling and bruising went down enough for me to close my mouth and chew. I don't know if this is "normal" for my mouth, but it certainly was unpleasant. I am willing to return to Petrolia for my next check-up and cleaning, but if I don't feel my mouth is getting the best quality of care, I will be looking for a new dentist.

I was introduced to Dr. Donison through my now husband as he's been a patient of his for some time. Dr Donison is an excellent dentist who genuinely cares for his patients. He does a very thorough job of checking and then explaining exactly what's going on. He is very professional and kind in his mannerism and it's the first time I've felt like I can relax and trust that he knows what's best. I've only ever had one cavity and after multiple attempts by previous dentists, resulting in half of my tooth breaking off, it is finally fixed... And for good, thanks to Dr Donison! Donna, who's a hygienist there is awesome and if you can request her! I've never dreaded going to the dentist after finding this place. Highly recommended!

I came here because I needed to, I hadn't visited the dentist for regular cleaning/checkups in over a decade. The only dentist I saw in that time was referred to me by family for an emergency wisdom teeth extraction. I was absolutely horrified since and refused to see the dentist. I never flossed, and I grind my teeth A LOT. But coming here, I was warmly welcomed by the staff and on my visit, my insurance (Sun Life) was accepted right away. I didn't like the first hygienist I saw here. Mind you - I had 10+ years of no flossing calcified plaque buildup and extremely inflamed gums, that could be why she was rough and I was in a lot of pain. HOWEVER, since then I have been seeing Melanie as my hygienist, and she's the end-all-be-all reason on why I'm NOT afraid anymore. She is extremely gentle and a really sweet personality. You have to floss and brush 2x a day people, so that both your hygienist and dentist go easy on you. I've seen Dr. Donison a couple of times and he's so nice and knowledgeable. He taught me a lot about the health of my mouth and taught me a few neat things about it. He truly cares about what he does. All the other annual checkups I do are with Dr. Antoniuk (?, I'm awfully forgetful, I THINK that's her name), and she's really awesome, just like Dr. Donison. I will continue to go here in the future and because of their staff and service, I'm no longer afraid to go see the dentist!
