Tina Cox: the managing partner of Stange Law.....   Don't Walk away run away.......RUN fast and far away from this place!. They are Shifty Shifty Shifty. I assume most of these good reviews about Stange Law were written before the case was finished, and I will explain how they do it.   I hired Tina Cox as my lawyer after our initial interview because she sounded competent, very sharp, and seemed like a great person to have your back. As the case went on, I was noticing she was slower to respond to the questions and concerns I was having through email, and never picked up the phone or called me back. Tina would tell me she would file documents with the court and never did. When I would ask her (through email) if she filed those papers with the courts so I could get documents I needed in Discovery. I never got an answer and she never filed those papers. Six months later and I still do not have the documents to prepare for trial. (Now I see why she is talking me out of going to trial.) She would sit on discovery documents for weeks without giving them to me, even when I asked her. And after conversations with her I would have even more questions.   RED FLAG: We went to mediation for assets, which went pretty good!. despite Tina being able to get me all of my records in discovery.A couple days later she asked me to write multiple good Reviews online about her and the firm. I was pretty happy with the outcome of asset mediation that I agreed and said no problem. (I had no intension on writing great reviews before the case was over.) Do you write a review about a restaurant before sitting down and eating? No! So why would I do it before the case was finished. A month goes by and the asset contract isn't signed. The spouse keeps adding things. Tina never offered suggestions on what to take out and leave in the contract. So, I started doing some research and found out things you should never have in an asset contract if you are not the breadwinner of the family.... very scary! With Tina thinking I wrote a good review, her attitude towards my case did a complete 180 without warning. She started getting more brash with me on my concerns over the case and custody of my child. Then she started talking me out of going to trial. She seemed very unprepared getting closer to trial. This made me extremely nervous and anxious.    She would be really vague during our conversations going into trial, making it very hard to make a confident decision and left all the reasoning to me. She is always getting me to sign papers at the last minute before the deadline, putting massive pressure on me with her vague explanations. She would never explain repercussions of those decisions, which made me feel like I was making the biggest mistake of my life and getting taken advantage of.   It feels like she got all of my money and is about to leave me high and dry.....I started looking for a new lawyer before things got irreversible. My ex's lawyer told my ex this about Stange Law at the beginning of our divorce, and I never believed her....Now I have to apologize, because she did try to warn me. Stange Law: they will drag the case on, milk you for all of your money, and leave you high and dry. Here we are! Almost broke and losing. The opposing lawyer just steam rolls Tina in court. She doesn't give Tina documents requested and Tina doesn't do anything about it. But Tina sure talks a great game. I never felt like Tina faught for me. The scariest thing is, I never said 1 word in any of these hearings, but the judge seems to hate me.....So I'm really confused about this as well.   Tina Cox is the managing partner, so I assume she is in charge of training and managing the other lawyers to be just like this.....This is terrifying! Danielle Lawton and the Stange Law Firm are crooks and scumbags and utter trash and are the cliche example of what gives lawyers a bad name. Danielle is incompetent at best, her communication is almost non existent and when she does communicate everything out of her mouth is a lie. The Stange law firm took me for 23K over the course of a year while I was paying them to handle my daughters divorce. After a year they had not so much as even filed for temporary child support! When my daughter went to mediation, which took the entire year April 23-April 24, she was chastised by the mediator for NOT having the forms and documents she was supposed to have. Now whose fault is that? Danielle Lawton is to blame for that. Weak, incompetent, worthless, scammers, overall terrible human beings at the Stange Law firm, I've never felt so cheated in my life. The new attorney we have has done more in one month than Danielle did in one year! If you read this and still work with her, it is your own fault. I could go on with more awfulness about Danielle, so I will. This POS lawyer told my daughter so many things that she was going to do but is in fact too weak and incompetent to do them, however, that doesn't stop the Stange scumbags from billing. Every bill invoice that we received was packed full of "received and reviewed" which I found out from my current attorney that what Stange does is called "file churning" where they send the files back and forth to each other to create a billable paper trail. A practice that is unfortunately not illegal but highly unethical. In fact, my current attorney noted that the amount of paperwork generated was substantially higher than most divorces cases in which there is a million dollars worth of property to evaluate. This is utterly reprehensible considering that my daughter and her scumbag husband had literally nothing between them except for the two little girls. So, needless to say, I am definitely going to the Mo state bar association and I am going to do everything I can to get my 23K back and hopefully see the end of Danielle Lawton's career. What a piece of trash she is and what a trash law firm Stange is. If I have done anything in this review it is downplayed the extent of what scum this firm is. read more

The firm is a Disaster, focusing on draining your account with lawyers that charge you for ''paper work'' that were never filed. I get this lawyer to represent me to find out 5 month later that lawyer is no longer with the firm and i get a new lawyer thats higher tier and more expensive! Without my concern nor knowing my financial state. Been on a case for 11 month and have paid $9,100 got caught up and now owe $9,500 on top of the $9,100 i paid so $18,600 later the new lawyer resign the case! Due to the unpaid balance. So i just paid $9,100 for what again? Elisa Leighton can be bamboozled by any attorney with numbers. I was awarded 65% of the proceeds of the home by the judge. She sat with the opposing attorney for over an hour to to get this corrected on documents. She trusted this attorney and had me only the pages to sign giving up what the judge already Awarded me. Then when I questioned her I thought she had this corrected before I signed it she avoids you for two weeks hoping you will go away. She gave a totally different story and told me I need to sign a new fee agreement to fix how her screw up. You can file a complaint with the state for free and they will look into the case. She's a no where to be found when she gets caught in mistakes. Does not care how she treats people. read more

I still don't have any more time with my children. I am now late on my child support, mortgage and bills because I put all my eggs in their basket. I'm hosed and worse off than before. I am still ridiculously appalled in the treatment and billing that was thrust upon me. I am a single woman with no children and no property, when I hired Stange Law First in Lees Summit I was told my divorce was easy and shouldn't cost more than $2,500. In the end I received bill after bill for an email, or a stamp, or to place something in the mail. I went days without answers and the professionalism just was not there, I did not feel like I was an important client. All in all this simple divorce ended up costing me $9,000! RUN as far and as fast as you can away from any office with Stange Law on the door. I was incorrectly billed, and after 60 days, no resolution of the charges. My initial lawyer bordered on intellectual retardation, and could not write a simple motion to modify, in fact we had to write it for him. Now I have a new attorney, and after 5 months, the motion to modify is still not correct. They will milk your bank accounts dry. The site would not allow me to give them zero stars. Lastly, client care is absent. They will never call you back or respond to emails. read more

In total I paid this firm over 20k, and I got screwed royally in regards to time with my son and ridiculous childcare costs. I found Stange Law Firm by searching Google for family law attorneys. My first attorney was great but he quit the firm and I had to get a new attorney. Stange Law Firm assigned Senior Associate Cathy Noble to my case and she was literally a gift from God. Cathy was very understanding, professional, caring, passionate, thorough, concerned and a bulldog in the courtroom. I was living overseas so there was a 7 hour time difference between us but that didn't stop her from servicing me as if I were in the same state as her. She did everything in her power to make sure that I got my daughter back and on December 10, 2020 that's exactly what happened. Hopefully I wont need a family law attorney ever again but if I do I'll definitely make sure that Cathy is on my team. I don't know what I would have done without her, she was a blessing in disguise and my family and I couldn't be more happy with the hard work and dedication that she put in for my case. read more

If it were an option I would give this law firm 0 stars. I hired Antony Jones from Stange Law Firm to represent me in a very simple divorce case. We had only been married 3 years, we had no children together and owned a home which we both agreed to sell. Divorce proceedings began in December and were not finalized until late June for a whopping cost of nearly $14,000. Tony was not remotely engaged or concerned with this case at all. They bungled my filing and my ex was able to file first. My ex remained in the home and I had to fight every step of the way to get my personal belongings from the home. When I informed my attorney he had stolen and damaged some of my personal property he advised it would cost me more money to make it right. He did not even mention it to opposing counsel. My ex was under court orders to pay the mortgage while he remained in the home, the loan was in my name only. When my ex started missing the mortgage payments I advised my attorney right away and told him my credit was tanking due to it, he advised me it would cost more money to follow-up. He was completely unwilling to follow-up on or enforce court orders. He created an elementary spreadsheet that did not reflect the accurate division of assets and debts and charged me an exorbitant amount of money to do so. I had to completely redo the spreadsheet and spend over an hour explaining it to him and was charged even more money for that conversation. He never asked opposing counsel for financials to support their claims (they were false) Month after month I was charged thousands of dollars with no sign of resolution or settlement, to this day I have no idea what my attorney was actually doing. Every time something important like damaged/stolen property or missed mortgage payments came up he advised me it would cost more money to pursue and nothing was ever done. I purposefully went an entire month not speaking to him or sending any correspondence because I could not afford to be charged. Sure enough the first of the next month I was still invoiced. Tony explained this was because the paralegals periodically check the court filings to make sure no new filings had been made! I expressed dissatisfaction and frustration over his performance and the amount of money this was costing. I was told I was being "emotional". I finally threw in the towel and told Tony I had to give up, I had no more money. I said offer them all the equity in the home, all the marital property, I will take the debt, this just needs to end. Tony almost jumped for joy over this pathetic offer and sent it over to opposing counsel right away with a stern 48 hour deadline to accept. Opposing counsel sat on the offer for an additional 2 months with no pushback from Tony (that would cost more money and really this was the only way to get my divorce he said) in which time I incurred thousands more in attorney fees and the home entered into foreclosure proceedings. Things were finally finalized at the end of June. I came out with zero equity in my OWN home, all the marital debt, fewer belongings I entered into the marriage with and out $14 thousand dollars in attorney fees. Tony didn't provide bad service, he provided a disservice. The result was not only not fair and equitable, but actually hurt me and caused me financial damages. Hiring him actually hurt me. I would have faired better by representing myself. Tony lead me to believe opposing counsel was either delaying or being difficult to work with and this is why it drug out so long with such dreadful results. I let Tony go once the divorce was finalized and have since had to deal with my ex's attorney directly to tie up some loose ends. I have found them to be extremely timely in their responses and we have settled 2 major issues in a matter of hours on the same day. To add insult to injury when I scheduled a conference call with Tony and his supervising attorney and the client care director to express my concerns about how my case was handled, they had a call center person call me to cancel 20 minutes before the scheduled call ( I had to make arrangements with work to make this happen). The call center advised me they would not be speaking with me EVER about my concerns or my case and that Tony had done his job. The firm continues to THIS day to charge my credit card every month for their retainer, $2800 which I have to fight. I am not sure how Tony or the firm could stand by this pathetic representation and justify taking $14 THOUSAND dollars in attorney fees. Do not use this firm. read more
