I would never go back to Family Powersports in Lubbock. I made an appointment ahead of time and showed up on the scheduled day, only to be told they couldn't find my appointment in their system. That was frustrating and set a poor tone for the entire experience. I brought my vehicle in and specifically asked them to perform all necessary maintenance, but they never clearly explained which service package I actually needed. I expected a thorough explanation of the recommended services, along with a detailed breakdown of the work before any service was approved. Instead, I felt there was very little communication about what maintenance would actually be performed. They recommended a service package, and I assumed it included everything I needed done, but that was not the case. I was charged far more than expected, and all they seemed to do was check the oil and spark plugs. For the amount they charged, I expected actual maintenance as well as an itemized estimate of costs upfront. Transparency should come before approving any service, including a clear explanation of the work being recommended and a detailed list of charges. Instead, I left feeling overcharged and disappointed. I wouldn't recommend bringing your vehicle here unless you get a detailed explanation of exactly what work will be done and how much it will cost beforehand, rather than assuming everything you requested has been properly addressed. read more

I had just bought my bike from family 4 weeks ago and let's just start by saying before I could even leave the lot someone from family had hit my bike with a fork Clift while I am thankful for the people that have helped me solve this issue there have been people that have really made this a headache.. after three weeks of waiting on parts for my bike the parts came in broken and chipped of the paint so I had picked up my bike waiting for a call to drop it back off.. while me and my boyfriend went for a ride I took a turn and the seat had came off of my bike almost making me drop the bike on the street.. as this is my actual first experience at family I will say this has been the WORST experience I have ever had and will not be buying another bike here as no one has even tried to compensate me for their actions leading to my bike. read more

Recently had warranty work done on a 2023 Sea Doo Switch boat with 18 hours on the engine. The "check engine" light came on while on the lake. We immediately pulled it out of the water and took it to Family PowerSports where we purchased it brand new. The boat was left with them on July 18th. In their defense, they did contact us several times a week to tell us they did not know what the problem was. On September 12th we were called to pick it up, it had been fixed. Upon pick up, we were charged over $1,000.00 for warranty work. Seems the parts and labor are covered however, the warranty does not cover diagnosing the problem. I don't agree with this, seems warranty work on a boat launched only 6 times should cover figuring out why a check engine light came on. read more

Bought a 2021 Indian scout bobber from this store. Sales team is friendly if a bit pushy as is expected. I put 280 miles on the brand new bike when the stator, water pump seal and shaft seal failed. Took the bike into the service department to have it fixed under warranty which took months to verify. Several more months passed with many promises that the parts would be in soon. They kept giving me the run around and I decided to pick it up and take it to a dealer closer to where I moved. They tried to give me the bike back covered in dust (attached picture was the night before it was dropped off). Brand new battery is basically shot. Several new and noticeable scratches on the tank. Save yourself the trouble, take your service needs somewhere else. read more

They charged me 1000 to break parts on my bike. Bike was sent for service for it's miles, (valve clearance, plugs, carb .etc) I was told twice the bike would be ready, and made the 140 mile round trip with a trailer to retrieve it.... The first time 2 weeks after the first estimated pick up day passed... I arrived to pick up the bike about an hour after I was told it would be ready for pickup. After a 20m wait in line behind 4 other people with complaints about service that made me more uneasy than the phone conversations that had taken place weekly... The bike was brought out from for me to load with fairings played on top of it... And missing about half of the hardware to install it. I was told they could not assist me in reassembling the bike or loading it. ( They had known for a week I was coming in to pick up the bike.) I take pictures and go back to join the line that now has another person whose come in since me and is seeking a full refund for their purchase because the used utv blew up that had been purchased the previous month that should be under warranty. Who knows... But it was soothing to see that they were attempting to back out on her too, who knows maybe it was the customers fault? After waiting for another 15 mins listening to that with my trailer and bike sitting there I finally get to someone, get the service manager to walk out with me... And they graciously agreed to fix the bike and replace lost hardware, supposedly they let the tech go for poor work while he was servicing my bike. . . Further reassurance. I drive the 70 miles back and wait another 3 days to be called back... For them to reinstall and replace hardware on a klr 650. It takes me an average of 5 minutes to de fairing this bike ... I drive back again. Now there are more scratches in the fairings than when I left it (it's a klr nbd) the battery is dead, (battery was a brand new agm the week it went for valve service.) And two turnsignal stocks are broken. In the bikes time there, where I wanted the carbs checked in on as well as valves etc.. I was told the bike is inoperative and the motor has low compression and won't run, (rode great when I winterized it 2 months prior) and that there is a no spark fault because the stator is bad. The solution is to trade it in and buy a new bike.... More reassurance.... They ended up refunding me the 1000$ they charged to diagnose the bike, I ended up going to another mechanic and fixing the issues myself. 300$ in broken parts that were fine when it went in including, front and rear turn signals, voltage regulator, ignition coil, replacement AGM battery, as well as some fuses. These klrs are known for having lower compression when tested because of the design of the single cylinder engine. My best guess is a kickstand switch was going faulty causing a no start in shop as I've had a couple instances where it did that to me on the trail... They were told this at the first phone call where they said the bike was toast... And that switch caused the tech to run down a fully charged battery trying to start it... At which point something was used to boost the bike with the battery attached and it fried the system. They quit manufacturing klrs in 18, how a service center can know so little about a bike that remained unchanged for a decade and is largely the same as it was in the 80s when it came out, one of the most ubiquitous dual sports in history... Is beyond me. The bike was a hard warm start when it went in because of the valve clearance... And after getting it running again... The compression is higher than average for a low mile bike at 25k on it. Battery was replaced with the same one and 3k miles later as I winterize it again... The same stator is running just fine. I couldn't prove they did that to sell me a new bike... But I'd drive 110 miles to sharps in Amarillo before I ever give FPS another dime. read more

Update:The GM reached out to me the same day I posted this review and was very apologetic and owned up to their mistakes. It should not have come to this point but he was very professional and his actions and effort are both great examples of what customer service should look like. Beware of the Service and Part departments I had them order me a part for my bike (tail light), made a service appointment and showed up. I waited for 2.5 hours in the lobby for 3 different employees to tell me 3 different things. They finally settled on the reasoning which was the part didn't fit and claimed they were going to reach out to the manufacturer/ third party seller to reorder. They put my bike back together and I go to leave and realize my tail light isn't even hooked up and working. They take it back and reconnect it. I call them back 5ish days later and the story is they can't get ahold of the seller. I asked for the seller's information so I could reach out and they said they were going to try one more time that day. Shockingly they got ahold of them that day!!!! It turns out the wrong part was put in the right box (of course not their fault). They sent it back and reorder the correct part again. I get a call saying the part was in on Thursday and I didn't need to make an appointment to have it put on. I just needed to show up Friday or Saturday and it would take an hour. I knew better so I reached out to the service department on Friday afternoon asking if I could swing by before they closed to have it put on. Of course, they knew nothing about this and they were slammed but said if I could make it up there in 30 minutes they would take care of me. I rush home, get my bike, drive up there and get a ticket started. I'm waiting in the showroom when someone from parts comes and tells me that in fact, the part is not in. They all kept telling me it was suppose to ship out of the Texas warehouse and didn't but what is still a mystery is what part did they call and tell me was IN, regardless of where it shipped from??? At this point I'm frustrated, they have completely wasted my time and don't want to take responsibility. I go back to the service counter and tell them not to call me until the part is in their hands and is 100% the correct one. Another 5 days go by so I call up there to see if the part is in and it has been in 2 days. Were they ever going to call? I asked over the phone to confirm they have held the part and it is correct. I set up another appointment to take it in and head up there on a Saturday. I get a ticket started and leave my bike to have it installed. Forty-five minutes go by and I get a call from them.... It's the wrong part again. Now I have my wife drive me back up there and I head straight to the parts counter to get the "its not our fault story" again. I ask to see the light because I wanted to see what box it was in and here is the best part of the story........... the parts manager comes out from the back and says they sent the light back yesterday because they KNEW IT WAS WRONG. THERE WAS NOT EVEN A LIGHT THERE, WHAT WHERE THEY DOING FOR 45 MINUTES?! But don't worry they gave me a free hat with their logo on it, like I would ever advertise for them? I get Moto911's (the seller) info because at this point I want to see why they keep sending the wrong part. But remember they are so very hard to get ahold of! On Monday I call the direct line for Moto911 and after 2 rings I get answered. The rep there is so friendly and explains that the boxes where all marked wrong and they are having to contact the manufacturer but wouldn't have the part in for another 4-5 weeks. I call up to Powersports and get refunded. I do my own research and order a tail light offline, get it in 2 days and unwillingly had to have them install it, as I haven't found another shop in Lubbock yet. While they are in one building and one business the departments do not work together even if they have both been involved since day one with your case. read more

Called in to family powersports Lubbock because I had read about a recall on my machine. I scheduled and appt for a Saturday and dropped it off. The service guy told me it had 2 recalls and that they would have to keep it until the repairs were done which was fine. I live an hour away and about the time I got home they called and told me that the recalls had been done previous to me buying the machine. Frustrating but ok as I could have avoided the trip altogether if that had been checked before I brought the machine. I told them while they had it just to check the transmission as I had noticed a little grinding between gears. 2 weeks went by with no word from family. I called my service advisor. was told they had found something and they had started a case with Honda. Waited another 2 weeks with not a word and called in to check on my machine. was told they were waiting on Honda to approve repairs. Another week no call I called in to check on it again same story. basically my machine was there 5-6 weeks, not one call and turns out there was nothing wrong with my machine so they say and charged me $136.00 for looking at a machine that was still under warranty. Last but not least i was told by my service advisor that for all the trouble and him not calling me to keep me informed because he was "extremely busy" he would have my machine detailed. You guessed it... machine was not detailed even though I called to let him know on Thursday that I would be up on Saturday to pick it up. read more

I was on a cross country M/C trip and had flat on my rear tire. I managed to limp to Lubbock but all the Motorcycle shops were closed on Mondays. I found a Quality Inn 2 blocks from PowerSports shop. Tuesday at 9 when they opened I was waiting at the shop entrance. They put my bike ahead of everyone and had me out and back on the road by 11. I know they don't have to put me ahead of their regular customers but it's always a mark of excellent customer service. read more

It has been 2 and a half weeks since I ordered and still no delivery date and when I call I can not get a hold of anyone except a receptionist who knows nothing!!!!! But lately it seems they cannot keep anyone on the Indian side of things. Service after the sale on that side is nonexistent. If you are spending money everyone loves you. If you are unhappy or need to file a warranty claim you are treated like your unwanted in the building. We have lost a part of our family because of the lies and deception experienced over the last year. No hard feelings on our side. Purchased a Side by side with cash. The sales man was rude (Michael) had to drive up to sign papers 2 hours and pick it up since I couldn't do it at the local store. No biggie what ever. Arrive on crutches and the sales man wants me to meet everyone after already knowing i wasn't happy and would not use them since i was taking the unit 6 hours away to Oklahoma. After telling him i wasn't walking around the store to meet people ask for the Manager Kolby, who wouldn't come speak with me. Had to sign 4 papers and the finance guy gets upset and mad when i tell him i don't want any of his extended warranty. Save your self the trouble travel to Odessa or find another dealer than this one in Lubbock. Should have walked away and took my business somewhere else. I purchased a brand new $32k Maverick from them. Unfortunately, 6 months later it was in an accident so I took it back to get it fixed. I dropped it off on May 25th and the Service employee said that id be back to driving it before July 4th. He never called with any updates so I call him and they were still waiting on parts (not their fault). Another couple weeks go by and I can't get ahold of the service employee at all. Frustrated with this, i call more often and everytime I call, they say they'd call me back and I have NEVER received a call back to this day. I go to the store and ask the other employee why he never called me back and he gives me a Smart Alec answer and laughs. It is now Mid-August and i called again and ask for an update and finally the service employee says its ready this past Tuesday! Sweet! I told him ill pick it up Wednesday after work. Due to work I wasn't able to make it until Thursday. I live an hour away so I get there around 5:10PM and pay them. They say their gonna bring it around so I wait in my truck and at 6:50PM, the service guy comes out and says there's a problem and the Can Am isn't finished yet.......it needs the seat put in and a few clips put in the front facia. He says sorry and he'll have someone totally finish it and they will deliver it to me the next day on Friday. I call them at 2PM on Friday and the service employee says its finished and the delivery driver will load it up when he gets back and he'll call me when he needs the address to deliver it to. I wait until 5:50PM and I call them since I haven't heard anything from them and the service person who answers the phone says he'll ask the service person in charge of my account and he'll call me right back....which of course never happened. I understand stuff happens. Things change...but ignoring me? Really? After you gave me your word? This place has the most pathetic communication skills of any service team I've ever met. In hindsight, I will never buy another machine from them ever again. This is the kind of service everyone can expect from this place. Don't buy from here unless you enjoy getting lied to and ignored. read more

Goo prices on bikes. But their service department definitely needs a complete overhaul. They have only ONE person that can work on Can Am Spyders. Why would you only have ONE Can Am mechanic? That's just STUPID. It SLOWS down the work. It also causes things like when they assemble the new machines for more mistakes to be made. September 18, 2019. Planning a trip of course sometimes get a snag. Well today was the day. The plans did hit a huge snag, especially if you are going on motorcycles. Well in this case that's exactly our mode of transportation for this trip. My husband is really good about checking and double checking equipment. So happens today he found a chunk out out of the rest tire. Time ticking away he jumps into action, starts calling around for tires. Family Powersports is the only place that carries our particular tire. Fearing the worse of course it's close to 5:00. Of course they close at 6:00. Everyone likes going home. These super heroes not only found a tire for our bike but agreed to stay after hours to mount and balance the tire. It is now 6:13 and they are diligently working to complete the labor. just needed a safety inspection on a bike I had purchased from them. I called in advance for the best time to bring it by. The service rep said to bring it in next Tuesday mid-morning for no wait. So that's what I did. Anyhow I had to wait for 10 minutes just to be acknowledged with no other customers in the service area. When they finally did acknowledged me, they told me it would be at least another half hour before they could get to me. First of all I have to say that I am so displeased with the service part at family powersports. I have a 2014 polaris rzr 1000 that I purchased from them. I pay extra 80 bucks extra on my note to family powersports for a platinum service. When I dropped my machine off to get a service did and clutches put in, evidentally someone in the shop took my transmission plug out and drained oil and never put my plug back or filled it back up. I put the bike in my storage for a couple of months before a big ride we had coming up. Thinking everything is good on it bc when it gets a PM did at there shop I shouldn't have no worries. Took my rzr on the ride and not even a good 2 miles the transmission quit. So I get it back to lubbock I call shop and eventually take it up their. Sure enough they say the trans locked. So I'm upset bc i dont ride the bike much bc I'm gone all the time bc I'm a truck driver. My bike sits there for about 5 months after they tell me its gonna be close to 7k to fix it. Or pay 2k for extended warranty. So I trying to get the money and debate what I'm gonna do. So they call and rough talk to me about coming to get my bike and all type of charges they gonna hit me with for it sitting their everyday. So I get their soon as I could when I get back off the road. So I get my bike put it back in storage so a mechanic I know I asked him to just look at it,when he gets it to his shop he asks have someone been working on my bike i said no it just sit up there at polaris shop. He says well the drain plug is out and there's no oil in the transmission. So I go up to family powersports and ask them did they take my drain plug out they said no but they where the last ones who did a PM on my bike. I dont even know where the plug is at. So they try to tell me that I proably was romping on it and it vibrated out. Nope I never saw oil and it wasnt oil on the frame of my bike. So sure enough talked to one of the shop manager and made me feel like I was making this up. I'm pissed bc their customer service to me was so disappointing. I could of drove to so many other shops to buy a bike but I chose them and even after this i go buy another 4 seater rzr 2020 so I guess it's all about money up there,its not about helping customers if there bike breaks.The shop tells me how we know you didnt take it out I was like REALLY i just spent all this money with you and you think I'm up here playing games WOW. That's my last machine I will ever buy from them bc the shop is not about the customers. They said there guys dont make mistakes like that. Well newsflash theyre human. Just own up to it. then you tell me to bring it back and you will break it down to see if you guys caused the problem. You are not gonna admit it if you did bc you dont wanna lose money and I'll be stuck with a high bill for you to tell me it wasnt your fault. You never said the plug was missing or no oil in my transmission on the paperwork you printed. But you got mechanics with 15 years of experience how the hell they miss that. Just bought a 4010 Mule & would not recommend this dealership under any circumstances. Got bait & switched out of $600 on my trade. Service dept wants $350 for a 25hr checkup which is basically an oil change. Previous dealing with Service Dept were no better - $400 for a battery & trailer plug. Worst service! I needed a part, called Family Power Sports in Lubbock, where the unit was purchased, and received no help at all. The only thing the parts person could help me with was the vin number and brand. I had to call the manufacturer myself to get the part. If they had a ranking system for worst possible service these guys would rank the highest. Not to mention that they had the unit in for service, and the first time we used it after their so called service, it broke down not once but twice. This place should be called hillbilly power sports since they must be keeping it all in the family, 3 eyes and extremely low intelligence. read more

I will say they're price on a new machine is unbeatable. However, you have to take the good with the bad. Their customer service is possibly the worst I've encountered. I drove over 6 hours from out of state and the machine was in less than new condition. It was dirty and had over 1 hour of drive time and over 9 miles. The back tires had signs of wear and the back passenger seat had damage. Since I was paying over $20k, I expected a new looking machine. The dealership refused to bargain or assist me in any way for my less than new looking machine. In fact, I had to work with a local dealer to get my seat replaced. After getting the machine home and driving it, I noticed they had not properly aligned the steering wheel and to drive straight you have to have it in the 10 o'clock position. They were rude and thought by giving a good deal they had done me a favor. I regret my purchase and would pay more from a reputable dealer that I don't have to worry if my machine was assembled properly. Needless to say I will never buy a machine from them again and question if it was worth the savings for terrible customer service and questionable product assembly. read more

The sale was horrible had to get management involved bought the item paid for the platinum service plan which is supposed to move you to the front and have same day service. Don't fall for it they do not honor that. Even had a service guy tell me as long as there selling new units yours will go the back of the line. Kept my boat for a week after I was told two days and that was only because I called everyday. Don't even try and call the GM he won't return your call. Tried to take it back a second time thinking it was just the guy I talked to. Nope four weeks to get it back! I didn't buy it to have it set in service for most of the boating season. I will never buy anything from here again and it's really there loss cause I purchase a lot of toys for my family on a regular basis. Please steer clear! read more
