I have been attending Water Aerobics classes, Cardio Barre, Gentle Stretch Yoga, Flow and Deep Stretch Yoga, RIP and Restorative Yoga for over three years at this center. So I think I am qualified to mention a few things from my experience. Village Fitness is very fortunate to have a dedicated group of fully trained and certified instructors. I have to mention a few ladies by name - Katie, Patty, Frere, Dolorita and Sydnee and give them the credit and kudos they all deserve. They all conduct fun, beneficial and worthwhile classes. I also have to give high praise to MaryBeth, the Front Desk Manager. She is the type of employee every business needs at their front office to greet and know all the members by name and the classes they attend. Mary Beth keeps everything at the Fitness Center running smoothly, keeps everyone in fresh clean towels, keeps the ladies changing room stocked and spotless and handles complaints and problems with a big smile that we all see each time we check in. She follows through on your concerns and gets back with an answer. Good Job MaryBeth! I hope management knows and appreciates their staff. Having MaryBeth or one of the other smiling faces greeting me by name early in the morning as I enter the facility makes a difference. And I see how a great staff encourages members to attend more regularly.

Today it was a broken safety tab that is used for emergency stop. Heart Rate monitor was not even close to my actual HR and the television sound was hit or miss. Other machines; some have televisions that work some don't. Some look like the TV works until you actually start walking then the reception is scrambled. Some TV's have limited channels. The facility is small and feels congested. When there's a group in the main area they are shouting and the nosie is ridiculous. There use to be a Y in Evans but now we're relegated to using Steiner Branch or Wilson branch. Make the Steiner Branch larger and maintain the equipment, it sucks having to drive to the Wilson branch just to use a reliable treadmill.

But I wondered, is it worth the fact that it's free? Let me assure you, it is. You walk in to find cardio, and upper body machines (as well as a ping pong table). To the right are two basketball courts and free weights room. Straight ahead are the locker rooms. And upstairs, indoor running/walking track as well as more machines. It is clean, kept up, and offers a good variety of equipment. I also am glad for the option of trading my ID in for a locker key while I'm there. *Insider's Tip -The bike machines have a water bottle holder as well as a dock for phone/other devices. -There is a water bottle fill up station by the stair case. -They offer yoga and a host of other classes throughout the week (and at various times). I figured it would only be for a few months. We have never left. My kids all love it. The coaches are highly motivating, engaging and supportive. The classes are always different and challenging and the progress I have observed, not only in their skill level and strength, but in their confidence is inspiring. In fact, I believe the training at Fierce is the reason my 8th grader had the stamina and endurance to complete the tryouts for HS lacrosse and make the team this past school year. In two years, I have watched my own kids get faster and stronger for their individual sports and I have also watched the "non-athletes" make incredible gains in strength and self assurance. Fierce Fitness Kids Training can help any kid regardless of their athletic ability. We don't plan to leave any time soon.
