Attached to the Doubletree and normal at best. The wait staff both morning and night are just your basic employee; nothing special nothing blah. I Tay at the Doubletree expecting more but the Fanatics just does not deliver. The food quality is ok. If you ask....I eat it. It's not like I won't touch it. It's just normal and if normal is good for you then this is the place. I want more than normal; I want exceptional and this is place does not deliver. read more

Fanatics Fun Eatery - Johnson City, Tennessee

This bar/restaurant is part of the Doubletree hotel, but also available to the general public. I was there by myself during karaoke-night, which was hilarious, especially as non-American to see everyone go all-out on country classics! I ordered the quesadillas, which were part of the appetizers menu, because it was a little late already and wasn't planning on eating too much. However, a massive plate with about 12 large triangles came out! I truly think that this dish would have been too large even if shared by 4 people! It is really surprising that a sports bar at the Doubletree is not a better place for food and drink. At one time a couple of years ago I would have given a much better rating. It seems like management has a keep it open attitude verses give a great experience. Most of the servers and bartenders I have experienced really don't take a customer first attitude which you would expect - more of it's a job and looking forward to getting off shift. The menu as it stands is not bad but the kitchen execution has so much to be desired. The dishes I ordered like the quesadilla and burger are nothing special and really below average. The location is great being so close to the mall and theaters although parking can be hard to come by as it is shared by the hotel. I would really expect so much more. They have poker leagues and last I was there it is the Pittsburgh Steelers home place in Johnson City. Wish I could give it a better review but it seems in line with so many others that are very disappointed. read more

It's a hotel sports bar next to the shopping mall. So expect what you would expect of that in any town. So you get a poker league on Mondays, pool players, football crowds, sometimes overflow from hotel parties and banquets, and a fun mix of people. The food is decent, as long as you don't expect fresh from the ocean salmon or gourmet dining. Service has always been prompt and accurate. The local Pittsburgh Steelers fan club really turns out for games, especially on Mondays. As do Tennessee VOLS fans on Saturdays. Come to think of it, this place can be pretty happening on Mondays. So there's that. Decent patio in the summer and if you find yourself over served, there's a handy motel attached. read more

I expect more from Doubletree. Is that wrong of me? I've got to tell you that a couple of the servants were EXCELLENT - others need to quit so that real working people can get their jobs. My first night in town I saw an employee or two sitting and chatting rather than refilling my beverages. The second night there was a server that, I'm sure, would have done backflips if she were able and she thought it would make us happy. I wish I could remember her name. She's a brunette with dark eyes and glasses and loves tea, not coffee. (This woman is management material. I hope that Fanatics / Doubletree management sees this comment and sees fit to give her the pay she deserves.) The third night there was one server who checked on our table no less than FOUR times within 15 minutes even though we were obviously in the middle of a business conversation, obviously had our menus open and were not ready to order, and had full drinks, and the last two times she approached the table I was shaking my head "NO" - yet she interrupted our train of thought multiple times to ask "Are you ready to order yet?" She made us feel as though there were others waiting for our table - but we were one of THREE tables there. She made us feel rushed and unwelcome. Did I mention that the mashed potatoes tasted instant? In all sincerity, Fanatics works if the right staff are working, but they need to evaluate their employees, fire the bad ones, and give people who WANT to do a good job those positions. It's an employer's market right now. There is no reason these folks should have sub-par employees. read more
