I reluctantly agreed to speak to one of the representatives after being asked by co-worker. I wouldn't consider purchasing ad placements from them solely based off of one phone conversation. Tried to fast talk his way to a sale. Told me that their ad placements would do this and that and would work fantastic for the small business I work for. He sent an email and what I was assuming was a canned message (which is ok, because I know you can't spend time writing emails all day long). At the bottom he provided a link to an article about Facebook ads and how it could help companies and how clicks and return on investment is improving by this much percent (percentages can be deceiving if you don't have raw numbers) - http://mashable.com/2013/10/28/facebook-ad-success-q3/ Word of advice - If you haven't read the article, don't send it to prospects. I tried to have a conversation with him about a couple points in the article and he didn't know what I was talking about nor did he bother to pull up the article to look at it. First, he claimed to have 35 years in the industry I work in and he was the first one to come up with the Nike Sparq program and said they stole it from him (...what?). He went on to say that he picked our company because we had what he wanted and they only work with the best in the industry. As politely as I could I asked "Well, I know that Company X is the market leader, so why not target them?" He got defensive and shuffled his way around that question. As we went on, I asked a few more questions. Questions that I felt any successful company or sales person would feel comfortable answering (or would at least say "I would be happy to get that info for you, I just don't have it in front of me"). "What is the company's retention rate?" I think about 30%... "How many clients actually stay with YOU after the first month?" I don't know... I think... About... I don't know... Red flags in my book. He then proceeded to insult me by asking how old I was (like I'm not suited to be discussing Facebook marketing) and that he'd be better off spending his time talking to people that knew what Facebook advertisement was all about. Like others reported, this company cold-called me leading me to believe they were from Facebook and wanted to feature my company. Later I realized they wanted to sell me Facebook advertising at over $600 a month. I run successfully Facebook ad campaigns that cost me a small fraction of what they are charging. Look out! They are now doing business as Bigfoot Social. I worked for this company for several months. I really liked the people, but their business model is based on smoke & mirrors. I have designed & placed Facebook ads for a couple of website clients in the last year or so, and they haven't spent more that 30 dollars a month. You can do the same thing yourself for less than 50 bucks a month, and actually get accurate reporting on your ad campaign. I think their lowest ad campaign for this company is $250.00 a month, and they charge you a setup fee for ad creation which is free and easy using the Facebook tool. So I just got off the phone with one of their guys - not the sharpest salesman I've dealt with. I don't like being insulted, yet he sorta did it twice. First, he tells me that he went over costs ($450/mo with a 1-Time $150 Ad Creation Fee) with my boss a few days prior, then asked if my boss had discussed it with me. When I replied that he hadn't because of how busy we all were, he tells me: "Well, blah blah blah, we're probably twice as busy as you are." Not cool. Second, he wasn't clear about who he worked for. It took me diving into one of his short breaths to ask again, and his response was: "Do you have a browser open? I can take you right to us. It's fanbasesolutions - all one word..." at this point I said that I wasn't interested in their website and that I just wanted to Google them. He replies: "Well you're a smart IT guy, let me tell you what to pay attention to and what to ignore when you do that." I asked him "If I'm so smart, won't I be able to figure that out for myself? I then tell him "I have your name, your number, and your prices - I'll call you if I decide to do business with you." His reply? "Well I'll be calling other shop in the meantime." Oh no. UPDATE: After leaving this review and emailing my experience to the company (even though the individual I spoke with on the phone told me there was no one higher than him), I was issued a full refund. This updates my review to 2 stars. The comments below from Fanbase are fine, but, again, my problem was NOT that the ads were difficult or couldn't be done, it was that NO ONE COMMUNICATED that with me. The twelve emails back and forth? There was no concern from your company when I first presented the ad, in fact, on the phone, I expressed having had trouble myself at first with the ads. Your sales person (who as I said, really doesn't actually understand the ads at all) told me this was why you guys were the pros and why we should hire you. The ads would be no problem. Fine. Over two weeks after your first "your ads are live" email (which, just as a note, should not be sent until THE ADS ARE LIVE...had the email said, "your ads have been SUBMITTED and are awaiting APPROVAL", that would be fine. Your ads are live is a lie, plain and simple) I emailed to check on the status of the account. Only after I MADE CONTACT, NOT YOU, did I find out there was an issue with the ads. My problem, again, is not that the ads weren't approved, or that it didn't happen in a timely fashion. It's that no one made any effort at all to let the client know. We are paying you, we have a right to know if everything is not going according to plan. Then you change the ad...again, not a problem, had you DISCUSSED this with us in advance. If you'd sent a simple e-mail the first time you had the issue, we would have gladly provided a product page that was easier for you to advertise for us. We were NEVER given that option. And when push came to shove, you made the decision for us. A link to our homepage is not worth nearly as much as a link to our product page. Not to mention, you didn't include the tracking code either, so we had no way to gauge your performance on our end. I appreciate the refund in full, I really do. And I appreciate the attempt after everything to communicate with us and explain the situation here on this public forum. I don't appreciate that it took over a month, a series of escalating emails, an a public negative review to eventually get that kind of communication. read more

I never write reviews, but this one had to be an exception. Please don't waste your time or money. They scammed me for almost $800. They made it appear that they were a special vendor working closely with facebook. Come to find out, facebook wants nothing to do with them. I should have realized what a joke they were by the fact that my company has more facebook likes than them, so much for them being the expert! Fanbase solutions was a wonderful place to work. I am disappointed to see all of the negative reviews. The owner is one of the most honest and integrity filled People I've worked with. As for the staff some of the better Facebook advertisers in the industry worked at Fanbase. Being a veteran of the industry for over 5+ years there is good bad and ugly, but fan bases shined like a rare light in what can sometimes be a very tough industry. I would definitely recommend people working with them and their staff and would take some of these reviews with a grain of salt. A lot of the time they disgruntled competitors or just some realtor who doesn't like to get a cold call and is willing to yell the word scam! at the first sight of a sales pitch. It's sad. For example: I was the rep who spoke with Rob W. We spoke for no longer then 35 seconds mostly him talking about himself and how important he was. The guy was a total tool. His review was misleading and dishonest. But what can you do. Just wanted to add a little honest opinion on a company that earned my respect many times over years ago. I think if people could take a peek inside Fanbase, they would very confidently invest their valuable advertising dollars with them. Very frustrating. I understand it is a gamble with online ads on facebook and google, but the ads were showing up on poorly targeted pages and keywords--no one listened to my concerns. If these ads were managed by knowledgeable individuals and still had trouble I could accept that. But this was not acceptable. read more

I was contacted by a customer service rep and knew nothing about my current Facebook status. I am a business owner and just don't have the time. The rep knew what I was looking for as far as seasonable advertising and at the time I was not ready to book my fall and winter tours. I received a call back and was told that when I was ready they would be there to run my ad campaign and also allowed me to place it on hold while I was not using the off season. He even gave me some Facebook pointers with no expectation of a sale at that point. I give this company high praise for just being professional and curteous to a complete advertising novice and I will be doing business with them very soon. read more

If I could give zero stars I would! This company is a joke, do not use them! They are a third party scamming advertising company that hard sells, is rude and inconsistent and does not deliver! They go through employees so frequently that I am randomly cold called every six months and they seem to have no record of initially reaching out to me when I say I am not interested and please don't call again. The two months I did try them they delivered nothing and charged me for 4 months, I worked hard at getting a refund for the two unused months and they were sure the billing cycles were in their favor and I was wrong, burned a bridge there. They call themselves a family run business out of Oregon and try to appeal to your small business sense but when you ask them questions they have no concrete answers. My questions were: What are your sales numbers in my category? What is your retention rate? What are your annual growth numbers? What similar companies do you service? What will you do differently of me on Facebook than I can do for myself? No answers to any of these questions.
