This was a standard Chinese buffet located in a plaza with ample parking. We went on a Saturday for dinner and it was busy. We waited in a short line, paid, and they brought us to a booth. They had a high chair available. The waitress asked what we wanted for drinks and we were on our way with filling up our plates. They do charge for waste and excessive food left over; the signs were everywhere. There were plenty of options to choose from. The dishes were fully stocked except for one. They had the typical Chinese American fare as well as American dishes such as fries and chicken nuggets. There were desserts, fruit, and soup. A few of my favorites were the mayo shrimp and general tso chicken. The food tasted good, hot, and fresh. I deducted a star because the waitress never came back to fill up our drinks. My water was empty for most of my dining experience; I was able to flag her down after I was done eating to ask her for more water. Other than that, it was a fulfilling and unhealthy dinner; good for once in a while occasions. I definitely was tired after eating there from all the MSG lol. read more

Today was a very rainy and cold day and I was CRAVING very Americanized Chinese buffet-style food, and this place really delivers you that. Very unassuming hole in the wall, local spot. No frills, basic Americanized Chinese dishes were being constantly emptied and refilled this Friday. There were a few dishes here and there that didn't quite hit the mark, but for the most part I had a great time with some friends and enjoyed a decent variety of things. You do pay before you dine and it's ~$12.87 w/o tip as of this review. Pretty good price for what you get. Always busy which means hot fresh food. Staff is friendly and nice. Cheaper than a fast food restaurant! They have all the normal Chinese buffet things, plus crawfish which my children love. Desserts are not great but you can be creative and have banana pudding or ice cream. If bringing kids make sure to bring quarters for their many vending machines with treats. Great service, for two people it was $33 which is very reasonable. Plenty of parking and a lot of seating inside the restaurant. The restaurant was very clean a little out of date though. The buffet was good. When you first go in you pay first which I like so if you don't have cash make sure to write in the tip. Their food is perfect. Their workers are very nice and they are not rude and don't yell, and it's not loud and they don't blast loud music like other restaurants and it's quiet and peaceful. Just the only thing they should work on is their spicy and sweet sesame chicken, some of the parts of it is soft and easy to chew on but most of the parts are hard. When I saw the Grand Opening sign I almost crashed. What an emotional rollercoaster. I have only dreamed.........dreamed of this place opening back up in a post-COVID world 10 years from now. But then I came to realize it was nothing but a dream. My friends would always say "I can't wait for COVID to be over......so we can go to the buffet". But here I am, April 17, 2021. I am vaccinated and in military. I have no fear of eating in at a buffet. My service coming here today to spend $8 will never be forgotten. I just felt like I NEEDED to support this place. Like who wouldn't? It was so hard for me, trying not to cry while sitting at my table was the hardest thing to do. The same friendly waitresses, they are all so happy to be there. The food is AMAZING..........considering the price. If I was poor, I honestly wouldn't even care as long as I had enough money come eat here once a week. Come on, we all have at least $8 to donate. If you say money is tight, you better cut something out for this place. This place was SQUEAKY CLEAN. They are constantly wiping down EVERYTHING. Table covers, hand sanitzer, gloves, gloves and gloves. You must wear mask and gloves when getting food. Everything is enforced. I felt like I was in church coming in here for the first time in more than a year. I felt like I needed to be on my A game at all times. No slouching, elbows off the table, proper, proper, proper. Not only is safety and cleanliness enforced but the people are so compliant. We all LOVE this place, we do NOT want it to be shut down again. Update** There seems like there has been a change in ownership since our last visit. And THIS.. is a travesty of travesties imo. There are..table covers now and plastic flowers on top of them..so i guess it's an improvement to the decor? Idk.. The price post COVID is 8.99$ for lunch and 10.99 for dinner as of this writing which is still very very reasonable since everything went up in price the last 2 yrs.. the new staff seems friendly as well. But what brought us here was the basic Chinese buffet where they served good to great food. .. and idk . Every dish I tried..felt slightly off or different. It just didn't taste good - not even the soups..nothing tasted good. Some dishes I couldn't take another bite because the flavor was so off. I was extremely hungry and in the vicinity of Hartford and Wethersfield. I had a craving for Chinese food and didn't know the area so I used Google and this buffet popped up. From the outside it looks dated. I haven't been to a buffet in a long time. I walked in and there was a small line. While I waited in the line there is a long entrance counter with all types of pretty jewelry displayed for sale, that I did not expect but was kind of cool. I went with my daughter and she loved them. As we moved along, there was a staff member at the register. They make you pay before you eat but I couldn't believe the price! It was only 10$ per person for an all you can eat buffet dinner. Not only was my belly happy but so were my pockets! They allowed us to choose our own seating and brought our drinks to the table. There were 4 stations to choose food from and everything was fresh, as a worker came out with a cart and kept replenishing the empty trays. I had everything from crab Rangoon, lo mein, eggrolls, fried shrimp, broccoli, green beans, stuffed mushrooms, boneless spare ribs and even fried plantains! I also had some chicken noodle soup. All the food was hot and tasty. The decor inside is pretty dated but the staff was very nice and made sure we had refills and took our empty plates away in a timely manner. It's an okay buffet place. Points for friendly staff and very reasonable. I haven't been to many buffets lately but protein sizes were on a small side. General Tso's chicken lacked flavor and its glaze was very watery and soggy (most likely not cooked in high enough temperature). Coconut shrimp (delicately not always found) had microscopic shrimp pieces and ratio of protein to batter was roughly 2 to 1. Nonetheless flavor profile was there. Last third point was for deserts. Mini cakes and assortments or Jello were great. To go platter that included pork fried rice, few pieces of spare ribs, coconut shrimp, general Tso, green beans, piece of small cake plus container of Jello ran me $6.83 - welcome and surprising to see it that low :-) If you're in a pinch, go check it out. read more

Made the mistake of using the bathroom here. I'm still having nightmares. Nastiest bathroom I've ever seen in any restaurant. Pay someone to clean them! Buffet was pretty standard. Not horrible, not great. At $8.99 it was cheap enough. But still, I would rather pay a little more and go to a cleaner venue. read more

Prices for both takeout and dine-in are an amazing value in today's economy--I would pay $12 for all you can eat even if the food was subpar. But surprisingly, compared to other local buffets, the vast majority of dishes are great. Served hot and for the most part amply stocked, there is a decent-sized selection and most items are tasty if a bit unhealthy (you know what you're getting into, though.) They have some kind of seafood bake (lasagna style but replace pasta with crab) and clearly popular as it's often low. But even the scraps in the pan taste great! Service is warm and welcoming; I've never encountered anyone rude or condescending. You pay ahead of time, which is convenient, and while there is sometimes a line they move it along quickly and get you seated immediately, at which point you can right away go up to the buffet. If you do takeout, the price is even better as you pay by pound, around $6/lb at the time of this review. It's one big room, so it can get noisy when dining in, especially when school hours are out and the big families flood in with lots of little ones. That said, there's not much the restaurant can do about that given the space they're working with. Overall, my experiences with Far East have all been great, while I can't go too often because of a lack of healthy options. For a once in awhile outing, this makes a great cheap lunch or dinner that will hit the mark and leave you satisfied. read more

Been through a few times for dinner, and every time the food was great (and rotated frequently), prices were very reasonable ($8.99 lunch, $12.99 dinner... which would be for 1 plate at a non-buffet Asian restaurant), atmosphere was good, staff was very friendly/polite and they had a large selection... and even dessert! With so few buffets in the area, and especially Asian food, you do yourself a disservice by not checking this place out! I love it, and can see myself becoming a regular in the near future! Cheap, quick, and suprising solid. This little place is one of the last remains quality buffets in my area after the dumpster fire that was once the great Vernon super buffet got turned into The Buffet Palace shut down alongside the many others that went away as I grew up. It's certainly not the best with some items (the wonton soup) but the price and items I did like (sweet and sour chicken, chicken and brocolli, lo mein, cream puffs, mini cake slices, I can go on and on) made it worth the price alone. read more

The location is in the plaza with Price Rite near the police station. It was extremely busy due to the traffic in the plaza. Parking for the location was easy to find and accessible. At arrival, the location was clean and well maintenance internally. On the outside, it was difficult to see whether or not it was open or closed. The individual at the register immediately greeted. Food was appetizing but there was a lot out when I first came. There was only four groups of people at the location so it wasn't expected to be low in food. I can hardly articulate how dirty this place was. Since we'd already paid (they have you pay upfront), we reluctantly stayed. Several patrons were eating in the buffet line (as opposed to the occasional monster you see doing it at other buffets), and a few even went the extra mile and licked their fingers before grabbing for more serving spoons. ANIMALISTIC. Plus, 2 children touched buffet food in the brief time I was there, one of whose mom's caught the kid after the damage was done. They should really put up signs and/or have some sort of oversight of the buffet area because that is not ok. We went in, after declaring how many people, they asked us to pay first. We paid with credit card. Be sure to just write the tip in then if you plan on giving tip this way unless you give cash later! There aren't tons of choices, there are 4 rows of food, no sushi. You have basic appetizers, main courses like noodles, fried rice, fried stuff, salad, and sweets like cakes, fruits etc. Ice cream was in the freezer individually in styrofoam cups: vanilla, chocolate, and mint I believe. I wasn't a big fan of the decorations/restaurant decor per se, looked old/outdated and reminded me of a Chinese take out place. In tasting the food, there were some hits and misses, but generally speaking, it's pretty standard in the taste compared to most other places. I found that for the price, the unlimited quantity, food quality is unbeatable. The taste of the food was okay. However, the worst part is that it was so unhygienic. I found the hair-like long thread( I'm sure that it was hair, you can see in the picture attached) cooked with the food. I almost chewed it, and it made me feel like vomiting. I complained to the waitress, and she forwarded the message to her manager. But the manager never came to my table, and I didn't get any response from her. This place doesnt look like much from the outside, but its a total gem. Nice variety. Friendly staff. Been on 2 seperate weekends, moderately busy, staff has a hard time keeping everything refreshed, but its been worth the wait both times. Price is low. Tip, bring cash to leave a tip. The Far East Buffet is great for us. We don't always want to spend a lot to go out so at $4.99 for lunch We really enjoyed this one. It's close to 91 on the Silas Deane and the parking is large. My wife goes there frequently for lunch as it's near her work. Take out is only $2.99 a pound so she frequently gets that. We were greeted very warmly and given a choice of where we would like to sit. It was lunch on a Friday and it was about 2/3's full. Both the dining area and the buffet area where spotlessly clean. The buffet area consists of 6 separate large serving counters so the choices were many. I found their food to be as good as many other Chinese buffet's in the area that cost over twice the amount. The only difference is that Far East doesn't have the specialties like sushi, crablegs or lobster. We don't need to eat that stuff every time anyway so I find this to be a good alternative to the more expensive buffets. They did have salmon and none of the pans where left empty for more than a minute or two. This place is very well managed. read more

As good buffets are hard to come by these days, Far East was a treat. The food was good, nothing was cold or like warm that wasn't supposed to be. The staff was courteous and attentive. I especially enjoyed their green beans and veggie fried rice. My children enjoyed the chicken fingers, the garlic bread and the crab Ragoon. This was my first time there with my family.
