Great place to get a variety of fresh authentic Asian groceries. The meats and vegetables are pretty fresh but I would be cautious with their packaged sauces. Taking a close a look at the ingredients before buying would help. I would avoid excessive amounts of monosodium glutamate (MSG), and any suspicious artificial sweeteners or colors. Far East also has a variety of other items that I couldn't identify, but I will have to say that they can clean up the place a bit, and the outside could also use a paint job, but I wouldn't really worry about this affecting the food which is always stored and packaged well. They have a large walk in fridge and freezer at the back that they use to restock the display shelves. Another minor complaint is that they only accept cash, but that isn't that big of a deal since you wouldn't buy too much at a time there. The cashiers are also really generous, they often round down the price so you don't have to go scrambling for loose change. The staff also let me exchange my rice when I picked up the wrong kind even without the receipt.

Really don't recommend to shop in this store. Lots of foods are expired and still on the shelf for sale.

After venturing to every Asian market I could find in the Champaign area, I stumbled on to this one.

It's a weird and wonderful place, especially if you are into DIY oriental food, especially for my…read moresoft spot, ramen. It IS a grocery store in that it has produce, a meat and seafood counter, as well as dry goods, refrigerated items and a robust set of upright freezer cases - mostly full of items not normally found in the US. They also carry many American staples when those are needed in a pinch, but the focus is clearly on what's not available anywhere else in the area. That said all the produce is top-notch and beautifully displayed/maintained. The meat/seafood selection fresh (and more so) frozen is pretty extensive, even down to how things are sliced and/or shaped. Then there's the bakery which is past the checkout lanes all the way at the far front-end of this place (which is the size of a large Aldi's). I'm pretty sure I saw a loaf of bread or two in the grocery areas, but they did not suggest the kind of exquisite baked goods on display when you enter the area - in both the grab your own area (croissants, bagels, donuts) and the counter glass case (fancy pastries). They're not cheap, but also fancier then you may even find at say Martinelli's and my creme-filled croissant was an epically delicious mess! Without burying the lead for some folks, because I was there around 9 AM, I didn't smell anything savory cooking yet, but behind the bakery are several more separate food stalls that make up a mini Asian food court for yummy things like noodles, bibimbap and ramen. I hope to come back and sample them soon.

We drove here on our way back from chicago. It is about an hour more added to our drive but…read moredefinitely a great addition to this small town. This place has quite a lot of selections of food items including my favorite exotic fruits durians. There were lots of dried good items that we got as well as food courts that we brought food.
