We came on a rainy Saturday morning around 11am- there was a fairly long line that stretched from the entrance down to Solimar. Thankfully, Faria had a basket of courtesy umbrellas out front, so that you have some coverage while waiting. It took us about 15 min to get inside- they only allow one party inside at a time for ordering. I did notice there seemed to be some confusion with folks who preordered- some people coming for pick ups were told to get in line as well, but some just went straight into the store to grab their order. They could probably use some signage clarifying what is preferred. Items that we ordered: - Ham + cheese croissant: absolutely delicious, one of my favorite items. I loved the texture on top of the croissant- it had crispy ridges and was topped with a cornichon. - Almond croissant: really delicious as well, nice and flaky, not too sweet. - Miso toast: this was topped with seasonal jam, which seemed like a blueberry jam. The sweet and salty combination really complemented each other. - Morning bun: cinnamony, delicious as well, pretty standard for a morning bun. - Miso apple handpie: unique flavor, the miso didn't overwhelm the handpie at all. Again, the balance of sweet and salty was really satisfying. - Cortados: tbh I don't think coffee is their strong suit. We only got coffees because we were planning to dine in for breakfast. The espresso itself seemed to be under-extracted; was kind of watery, acidic. read more

After seeing the reviews and photos, I finally stopped by (twice, to give it a fair shot). They've moved locations, but honestly for the better. The new space has more seating and a nice outdoor area that feels inviting. I tried the morning bun, almond croissant, and a regular latte. The morning bun was delicious and fresh, but the almond croissant was too sweet for my taste. It could use less filling in my opinion. If you like very sweet pastries, you might love it, but it gave me a sugar crash later. The outer is perfectly crispy and soft, though. Prices lean on the higher side, and service was just okay. The new Faria location is darling! A lot more space means it's more quiet and a perfect place to tuck in and work. The ham & cheese croissant I got was the best one I've ever had in my life and I will dream about her in between visits. I also got the dark cherry mocha that's on the seasonal coffee menu which was so so good. Ughh the almond croissant is to die for. It is so good, I need self restraint from eating more than one in a day. The frangipane tastes great and does not taste like artificial almond flavor. This is my favorite bakery in Sacramento! I always try to stop by and grab some goodies whenever I'm in the area. I visited on Lunar New Year, and the place was beautifully decorated. Unfortunately, they were out of many items by 10:30 AM. I only managed to try their pineapple bun with salted egg yolk custard from their LNY specials this week (they were out of the black sesame kouign-amann and egg tarts). 4/5 Pineapple Bun: The crust wasn't as crispy as a traditional pineapple bun. It reminded me more of a concha-style top. The filling was generous but didn't quite taste like salted egg yolk custard; it was more like a creamy custard instead. 5/5 Pear Butter Donut: omg this was amazing! The dough is milk bread rolled in cinnamon sugar, filled with pear butter and topped with cream. Soo good! 4/5 Miso Toast: This was tasty! Faria is my favorite bakery in Sacramento. Their pastries and breads are high-quality, made using local ingredients and what is in season. Their storefront is super cute and easy to access. I love that I can get their pastries at the farmers markets around Sac. Also, their staff is so kind and welcoming. I have always had positive experiences with them. The morning bun is the best I've ever had. Heat it up a little and the center is absolutely magical. Their special weekend pastries combine flavors that I would have never thought could go together so well! Their croissants are flaky and quite honestly a work of art. Everything here tastes so good! Believe the hype. I ordered the coffee cake, a ham and cheese croissant, and a latte, and every bite (and sip) was worth it. The coffee cake was a standout. Cute little cafe/bakery spot with yummy treats! The apricot matcha cream soda was super refreshing and the perfect level of sweetness. We came about an hour before closing so they were sold out of most food options and some drinks, we ended up ordering the vegan pesto pizza which was AMAZING. Hands down this is the best bakery in the region - at least according to my own super secret and strongly biased standards. It all started for me when I first tasted their olive and polenta loaf at the folsom farmers market and my love affair with Faria deepened with every bite that I took of their other baked goods. I love their location in Oak Park and am a big fan of how they have expanded and developed the location. The location adds so much to the character and charm of Faria and the staff are all so kind, helpful and knowledgeable about sourdough breads and other baked goods. Excellent bread and pastries. I recently moved down the street from the actual bakery but have been enjoying their baked goods for years by visiting the Farmer's Market on Saturdays. The croissants. I have never left a 1 star review but was super disappointed with Faria today. I got home and opened my bag to find this clearly overbaked bread. This wold not have won star baker on the great British bake off. It was probably 29 seconds away from smoking in the oven. I went back and said I was not happy. They said it was supposed to be like that. I said burned and they said yeah. I did not ask for anything but they gave me sorry. So poor customer service to go with a burned loaf that cost $14. This did not look like the sample loaf on the counter which had a lovely bake. Bottom line is check your bag before leaving because it may not look like the sample and if you take it home then you'll get no satisfaction if you bring it back. read more

I used to enjoy Faria Bakery when they first opened. The pastries were excellent, the service was friendly, and it quickly became one of my regular stops. Unfortunately, both the quality and the customer service have slowly declined over the years. Most of our orders were placed online, and each visit seemed a little less impressive than the last. The final straw was receiving 2 almond croissants that was so burnt it looked like it had completed its own cremation. I called simply to let them know, thinking they would appreciate the feedback. Instead, the gentleman who answered was rude and condescending. His response was essentially, "That's how it's supposed to be." If that's the standard, then I guess we have very different definitions of a croissant. To his credit, he did offer one piece of excellent advice: take my business elsewhere. I did. I've been going to Moonbelly instead, where the bakers clearly take pride in what they make. The pastries are consistently excellent, the staff is warm and welcoming, and the prices are reasonable. It's refreshing to be served by people who care about both their products and their customers. Sometimes the best recommendation a business can give is to try the competition. I've had Faria before from the farmers market, but it was my first time actually going to the bakery itself. It's a cute little bakery that is extremely popular! I ordered an almond croissant and my boyfriend got the ham and cheese croissant and ham and cheese sandwich. The sandwich is on a baguette. I love almond croissants and this one didn't disappoint. I loved it when there's actually almond frangipane! There were a lot of layers and extremely flaky. The ham and cheese croissant was really good too. I loved how everything went well together, but also you can taste all the different flavors and textures separately. The sandwich is definitely a big boy! Our favorite part were the pickles. Originally came to try the Turkish eggs but turns out I wasn't really that hungry upon arrival into Sac. While waiting in line, both the parties in front of me and behind me raved about the miso bread so I pivoted and picked up a loaf and also picked up the bialy to eat immediately. The bialy was almost too pretty to eat! It featured the bialy which had a lightly bubbled crust like a bagel and then a nice chewy fermented sourness on the interior. The divot was filled with seasoned creamy potatoes, topped with roasted golden beets, thinly ribboned pickled vegetables, and garnished with microgreen leaves and edible flowers. Overall, it was pretty tasty! But! I do think it needed just a little burst of something extra like maybe freshness from a basil leaf or even the bite from fresh cracked pepper. The two items came to just over $22 so Faria is on par with some of the artisan bakeries in SF but it seems to be worth the splurge every once in a while. Edit: adding review of the miso bread - this is a STAR! It's funny, as it was sitting in the car, I wasn't a huge fan of the smell....it just reminded me of sweaty gym clothes lol. However, once I cut into it, you immediately got the scent of roasted miso which was deeply savory and nutty. I toasted up a small slice and was blown away by the complexity in flavor and also the texture of the bread. It had such a nice chew! This place is pretty good. It's organized by having customers form a line outside. When you arrive, you are instantly hit with a great baking smell. There's places for sitting indoors and outdoors. I love the simplicity of their menu and their items are pretty good! I enjoyed the baked treats such as the rhubarb and ricotta danish and my husband ordered an miso apple hand pie . We devoured them which tells how good it is. The mocha was beautifully presented and my husband enjoyed his iced coffee. I'd love to go back and maybe dine in. We ordered to go! A residential neighborhood that has the first of two bakeries that started off at the local farmers market and has grown into its own business. Faria Bakery is located on Broadway in the area called Oak Park. The range and quality of the fresh pastries and breads are exceptional and delicious. They also have a meal menu featuring a few breakfast items plus sandwiches & salads too! We ordered the chocolate croissant & their specialty semia bun. The croissant was layered with light thin layers of flaky perfection with just the right amount of dark chocolate. That semia bun is a "must have". The creamy texture and the incredibly flavored milk bun was divine, but pretty pricey. The bun is $11.50, and plenty for two to share. The coffee bar is located to the left of the baked goods. Barista was not to engaging with customers & didn't go out of her way to make conversation. Note: coffee is provided by a local roaster. We ordered the matcha latte, chocolate latte & brown sugar latte. All were fairly good, but for the price- just wished a little larger of a cup. Keep in mind that your eat-in choices are limited although tables outside are congenial in those portions of the year when that's a tolerable choice. For locals and their guests this seems to be a great place with lots of popularity. Heard on the weekends the line is "out the door". For visitors to the area, Faria is a nice treat mainly for the bakery experience and can even consider picking up one of their unique fresh loafs of bread too! read more
