The staff were all very welcoming, and we were all really impressed with the friendly, efficient service. The menu was full of English comfort foods...and they executed everything beautifully. Just look at my photos to get an idea...I tried the goats cheese and caramelised onion strudel, which came balanced on potatoes and perfect ratatouille. If you ever find yourself in this part of the country, it is definitely worth popping in here for some lunch! *Pro tip: It sounded like they get very booked up in the evening, so ring ahead to ensure you get a table!!

She was standing scratching her unwashed ratted hair and looked so unclean then proceeded to sit and chat to the regulars rather than cleaning the disgusting tables that clearly haven't been wiped down from the previous day. 2.45pm (5th Sept) on a Monday afternoon and you have dirty tables! Think you have to get your pub sorted and maybe give your staff some tips on good hygiene. How about a sign outside saying you don't serve food anymore? Do not go here if your are in crewe ! Will be shut down soon anyway if thats the standard

We got hungry, weary and a tad thirsty so in our search for a place of refuge, we stumbled upon this venue. Very quaint interior - including bad 60's carpets - were not enough to distract us from the very cheap and superb meals: I ordered a garlic mushrooms on croute starter, followed by a mix grill mains with a jam sponge and custard dessert. All of it just creeping over the £10 mark. Bargain. The food really is very good quality. We ended up spending several hours drinking and eating in here; absorbed into the ethos of this place - welcoming strangers through its doors and giving them a hospitable environment to relax and chatter. Service was swift and co-operative. The bar maids were pretty and most people in here were friendly and talkative.

Its tudor-esque look and feel make for a warm and homely place to go for a drink. With amazing smells coming from the upstairs restaurant and a great choice of drinks at the bar, it was safe to say that I thoroughly enjoyed by evening here.
