I've seen a few reviews for this business, but everyone fails to mention some main points about how to shop here and what makes it special vs just shopping at a big box store. As someone that has been surrounded by and worked with pottery, glazes, stoneware, and high fire kilns my entire life --- as well as a culinary & kitchenware product developer and sourcing specialist for famous chef brands for the past 5 years, my advice is: The front room is a very small showroom in comparison to the large open warehouse in the back. All is open to the general public. Trick : Check the underside of dishes to see the country or origin, as not all are made in house. If there is nothing on the underside of the dish, that means it is either made uniquely in house or domestically. Hack : Compare prices on similar outlook. If you are torn between two similar collections, the higher price may often be the imported mass produced item. Tips : Do you want stoneware or porcelain? Do your research, as porcelain may not be as durable for everyday use. Artistic reactive glazes - What you may like most, even over the shape, is the cool artsy reactive glaze applied. If so, ask if the item can be made in house in different shapes using your favorite glaze. Visit on weekdays instead of weekends, if possible, to avoid crowds. Warehouse vs climate - Visit during mild weather as the shopping warehouse environment can be very hot and uncomfortable. Take your time - some items are scattered, so you will need to dig to put a set together. They claim to be " wholesale to the public " , but the sticker prices listed are the same as major retailers. The landlord was very specific in his restrictions on how the sign should be done, and A1 met the specifications precisely. Most recently, they did our sign at the Williamsburg at Dunwoody on Jett Ferry Road-- and the result was breath-taking-- a fantastic, sleek, and elegant sign with reverse halo lighting, perfectly installed. They did a highly realistic digital rendering before beginning production of the sign so I could really visualize how the sign would look at my location. They also took care of the permitting process for me so I could focus on other aspects of my business. While their rates were not bottom of the barrel cheap, their prices are definitely reasonable considering the quality of the craftsmanship and sign installation.
