What I didn't expect was to get the awesome quality, hospitality and experience from Hec, the main photographer, and his wife who helps him creatively. Hec carried himself with the utmost dignity and honesty that one could ask for when dealing with other creative people. He's full of ideas and was open-minded about my image and did everything to ensure I was comfortable around him. Together we had the best photo shoot day. When the day was done, he even walked me to the bus stop as it got late. We took some fantastic shots out at Clason Point in the Bronx, which has an astounding panoramic backdrop of the East River, the Throngs Neck and Whitestone Bridges and the Queens and Manhattan skyline. I never knew you could get images like that from the Bronx and the pics looks like they could have been taken anywhere. Hec has a real good eye and knows what he's talking about. He knows his craft but is humble enough to share what he's doing and never came across cocky. I wanted a simple photo shoot and basically got the hook up and a great introduction to a relationship that I hope I can count on whenever I need to do further business. And his makeup artist, Ness, definitely made me look fantastic for the inside and outside shots. I would definitely say that if you are looking for a budget-friendly photographer who will work with you and is easy-going, look into BPS. Hec's work on his website is just a piece of his genius. I'm saying this because I live in NYC and I've looked around for people who give quality and won't break your bank. For what he could offer you, he could easily be that guy. But instead he understands people who are driven enough to make the investments needed to succeed without much of the means. In a field where you could get taken advantage of and get screwed over real easy with half-ass work, you just don't find people like him too often. So BPS definitely gets my vote.

After meeting with Sachi and taking a look at his "look book", we were sold! His vision and ability to capture couples at their most genuine is unparalleled. His photography is unique and he was an absolute pleasure to work with. Sachi showed up to our venue an hour earlier than he was scheduled to so that he could scout out locations to shoot within the venue. He and his assistant Dennis worked the entire wedding and were never hard to find and did not pack up early to leave. tl;dr: Montclair Studio (Michael) is the most unprofessional vendor we have ever dealt with. The…read morepost-wedding experience was so bad that when we look at our photos, we get really upset. We chose Montclair Studio after a recommendation from a friend who hired them for his wedding. Big mistake! It's likely Michael will respond to this review defending himself without accepting that he messed up (see other reviews). We just want an apology and all of our wedding content. Michael refuses to accept any fault for his behavior. He does not return emails, texts, or phone calls (his email inbox and voicemail are also full). You will have such a bad aftertaste dealing with Michael post-wedding that you will feel bad when you look at your photos rather than be full of joy. At the wedding, things went relatively well; after the wedding is when things really got out of hand. He made it very difficult to get the wedding photo files, which was required to be able to choose photos for an album; he claimed he mailed them to us in San Francisco where we live, but he deceived us: USPS tracking # he gave us showed that he never actually sent them We called him out on that and they miraculously were sent. When we complained, he blamed USPS and said we should just pick it up in New Jersey...but we live in California! Finally, the USB of the wedding photos arrived to SF. The quality of the wedding photos were mediocre: he did not do a good job with outdoor photos or framing. He also had not sent us our Thursday afternoon Mehndi event photos. When we asked how to get those, he said to pick them up in NJ! My mother drove from Manhattan to Montclair (1+ hr driving one-way). Nobody was at the Studio when she arrived, even though she confirmed the time with him! The video was delivered AFTER the contract deadline; Michael demonstrated no remorse. My mom agreed again to drive to Montclair to pick up the Mehndi photos and the wedding videos, which he said would be ready; she arrived and while there was a USB left taped to the door (which someone could have stolen), the USB did not have any video on it! We eventually received the videos. The highlight video was very short; it almost exclusively showed highlights from our pre-wedding photoshoot and not the wedding. The full length video is missing my wife's vows as well as the Hora dance (an important highlight of any Jewish wedding). His contract stated we could receive the raw video footage if we sent him a hard drive. So we purchased a hard drive and mailed it to his studio. He was not there to receive it, so the post office mailed it back to my parents, who then mailed it to him one final time (we now had paid twice for shipping). Finally, the hard drive arrived to us in SF. We were so excited and thought this terrible saga was over. When we opened the hard drive, guess what? There was no video footage on it! My parents and my wife reached out to Michael, all to no avail. We waited months to write this because we were hoping to secure all of our wedding content first, in case he would hold it hostage due this poor review. At this point, we have given up. Any time we look at our photos, we get upset because it reminds us of this terrible experience with Montclair/Michael. Michael, if you read this, please give us our wedding raw video footage and an apology. Show some honor and accept responsibility for your mistakes.
