Throughout that spring as John and I remained in contact, updating one another with whatever further information we had, I felt valued and appreciated as a client, and I appreciated that John was able to take the time to handle my filing with thoroughness and care. This winter, John has already sent me a preliminary file with all of my tax information ready, seeking updates anything that may have changed since last year. Once again, I appreciate the time John has taken to prepare this file for me, and has taken a lot of my organizational concerns away, since so much of that has already been taken care. Though I had many recommendations and referrals for other accountants, I chose to work with Rose because I chose to specifically support a woman and minority owned business. One piece of advice from Erin Benzakein from Floret about hiring a bookkeeper and accountant was that if you feel dumb or awful after meeting with either, then it's time for you to hire a new accountant/bookkeeper. I was having a hard time managing my own bookkeeping and was inquiring about this service. I met with Tara and she was condescending, defensive, and was gaslighting me when I started crying on the call after she went on a diatribe about the importance of bookkeeping. I also disagreed with her statement that "Bookkeeping is the backbone of your business." Unfortunately, Rose was also on the call and there wasn't any intervention. I would recommend Rose Brown only if you were just working with her and Darin, but would stay away if you are on a call with Tara.
