I began taking lessons with him when I was just 6 years old and have been working with him for a total of 16 years now. When I was younger, he taught me the basics and helped me develop a solid form and foundation that I continue to carry with me today. As I got older, Vaz would point out the fine details of what I needed to adjust to be better, and through repetition he helped me turn that basic groundstroke into a wicked forehand. In my sophomore year of high school I was brought onto my school's Varsity team. I consistently played as one of the top players, and none of that would have been possible without the training Vaz gave me. He helped me with both my doubles and singles game and was patient with me through skills that were harder for me to learn, like serves or volleys. When I would return home from breaks during college, I would do lessons with Vaz and it is always a fantastic form of exercise and learning at once. Tennis is such an enjoyable sport, and it can be made even more enjoyable by learning from a teacher like Vaz who exhibits patience, knowledge, and understanding. Through all this time Vaz has been so kind to me and my family - we all think he is the best and each of us has taken lessons here and there! As the sun came out I actually called a few numbers I found online to confirm the time change but no one was answering. Upon arrival we checked in and were told another email was sent that matches were back at regular time and now he would be penalized two games because we were 30 minutes late. I'm extremely upset, as it is my birthday and once we received the delay email I made other plans. We should not have to sit around all day and check emails to confirm times. Additionally there should be easy contact information online to reach the tournament. No one answered the number they have listed on Yelp either. Extremely disappointed in this process and the lack of respect for people time.
