Fat Boy has "re-opened" again, for the summer season. Car Hop service is back! My burger was delicious as ever. They brought back the thin hand battered onion rings, but sadly took away the sweet potato fries (which are my daughters favorite!) Oh! They serve beer and wine now. Fun for the adults, just dont drive

    Open Memorial Day weekend!

Headed over to Fat Boy a few days after their glorious re-opening on Memorial Day weekend! The parking lot was very crowded and a little bit confusing when we drove in. There were a lot of cars parked outside of the main space, farther back in the parking lot and a few openings right around the building. I was not sure if cars were waiting to pull into those spaces, but since nobody was moving, I pulled right in. Given the crowd, I was happy to see someone come to the car within minutes to give us menus and instruct us to turn the car lights on when we were ready to order. I turned the car lights on once we settled on a cheeseburger, onion rings and a few beverages, and our waiter was back in under a minute. Once we put our order in, she let us know that it would be about 20 minutes for the turn around, and as we were not on a tight schedule, we decided to wait. We were so happy to see our food coming toward us on that old school car window tray! Burger was solid and the onion rings were battered, they was I like them. We hung for awhile eating and then turned the lights back on to pay. Overall fun experience. I am so happy that new owners have taken over, it would have been so sad to see this local landmark fade into a rusty ghost town. Updated menu pictures posted in photos.

    2020 Opening Date - May 16th!

2020 opening date is Saturday, May 16th! During Covid social distancing classic drive ins are perfect. Located about 5 min / 1.5 mi from Downtown Brunswick / Bowdoin. They created their Whoper before Burger King did. Used to be cash only but new ownership this year will be accepting cards!

Food was really good and very close to original. Had the scallop basket, lobster roll and woper burger. The frappes are delicious. Service was friendly sky and fast!

BLT was good but onion rings were not good and could not finish. The chocolate frappe was good.

I settled on the new Ultimate Trio, where you select three appetizers and three sauces for a set price. I went with the boneless wings (Parmesan garlic), onion rings and quesadillas. I enjoyed the meal more than on the previous visit. I mean, it feels like pub food in a way, but the wings were tasty and the onion rings thick and crunchy, which I prefer to the thinner type with soft batter. The quesadillas -- well, it is hard to make those memorable, but they were fine. The dipping sauces, well, they neither added nor detracted from the meal. My wife had the pasta Alfredo and it was okay, and those fries that I was less than impressed with last time. We brought some home for a second lunch, which always seems to help defray the cost of eating out. Our server was fine, friendly and fairly attentive, and though the food was a bit slow getting to us, we were catching up on news so we hardly noticed. So I was happier with this visit, and if this family luncheon occurs again, I will continue to explore the menu.

So I looked at my meal to ponder the idea and unbelievably there was a hair in the dry ass salad you need to specifically request extra dressing for every darn time. Probably happened with someone reaching over the line and sat in an ingredient all day. We initially had to wait a few minutes before anyone would approach the counter bc we were paying cash and considered leaving; wish we did. I will say mgmt did not give me trouble with the refund- but I very clearly do not have this type of hair and I received my $17.00 back for a half salad and half sandwich. I also don't own pets. Biohazard quality, airport prices. Usually make the trip to Tuscan in Freeport or Royal River in Yarmouth but alas, I am forced to live in the sticks because of partner's work. Just go to Kumo for some restaurant quality or Firehouse or even Jersey Mikes if you want a sandwich in this shopping area.

I was born and raised in Maine and come back a couple times a year to see my mom here in Brunswick…read more I hadn't been yet to the Ram and Bull which took over a previous restaurant spot, and decided to give it a try based on the fact that one of their weekly specials was lobster stew. Let me be clear, I am typically disappointed over and over by the lobster stew I have in Maine. In my mind, it should be classic, with milk, butter, Sherry, and lobster meat. I've been searching for this version from my childhood for the past 30+ years and I finally found it here. Have they added a tiny garnish of rosemary to the top? Yes. Does it make me angry or detract from the sweet perfect flavors of the stew? No. And the lobster meat in the stew was tender, as it should be, rather than having simmered way too long and being tough and chewy. Their crabcakes also were nice and generous, although I don't love the spicy remoulade (I feel it's too strong for delicate crab flavor) and the texture was a bit soft for me. I'm looking forward to being back during my stay and trying more items from the menu! Oh, and don't sleep on the service here, it was excellent. From several people asking me how my meal was or just saying hello, to the amazing Travis behind the bar with his big fabulous personality. Yay!

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Fun eatery with some unexpected vegetarian options…read more The hubby and I stopped in for a weekday lunch with a friend who'd been there before. It had that classic old timey tavern look, with lots of dark polished wood, and their menu, featuring comfort/pub fare, was in keeping with the ambiance. I had their crab cakes, which weren't too bready or greasy and came with a tasty spicy creamy sauce. I also had a cup of their tomato soup, which had tiny grilled cheese sandwich bites on a skewer perched on the bowl--such a fun idea! Accompanied by a glass of crisp chenin blanc, it was an awesome lunch. The hubby enjoyed his beet Reuben, which isn't something you see on a lot of menus. Our friend had the chicken pot pie, which he thought was just so-so. He liked the puff pastry crust but the filling didn't quite do it for him. Our server was friendly and funny and we had a great time overall.
