Woah, what's with the negative reviews?? Go back to Hacienda or Chi-Chis if you don't like an authentic mom and pop shop!! I grew up in the Southwest and I know what GREAT Americanized Mexican food is; Fat Burrito makes it. This hole-in-the-wall reminds me of some of the places I use to enjoy in Arizona. Tortillas are authentic and HUGE - not that plastic crap they mostly sell in the midwest. Steak is tender and flavorful. The salsa and red sauce is tasty. I usually order an avocado burrito with a side of beans. YUMMY!! My husband ordered steak tacos today that were out of this world!! I stole one. Horchata is the best I've ever had. Prices are more than fair. No more Taco Bell for me, Baby! ;) They don't have traditional Mexican food here, such as Menudo - like I said, it's Americanized. Do me a favor and visit this place often for dine in or carry out - help me keep this place in business so I can have my southwestern fix! I think you'll like it, too. read more

I love Mexican food and am always open to new things but this was not the place for me. My brother claims it was pretty good when he went but my experience wasn't as fortune. We ordered takeout which was the specialty, Fat burritos. They were so salty that we needed extra salsa to calm them down. The chips and pico de gallo were excellent though. My brother says I need to give this place a chance as dine in so I may be posting another review in the future. read more

Of course another great little place, ruined because they have gotten to big. Went in last night for carry out. Was so happy to see them packed, the place bigger, cleaner. Then disappointment. The steak in the Burrito was dry, chewy, & unpleasant. Woke up at 2 in the morning, vomiting cause my stomach was so jacked. And believe me, it was Fat Burrito. Too bad, won't be going in and will have to ask around and share my experience. I would give them another try but have caught on to places like these, or places in general anymore. Tried Fat Burrito in Highland last week for the first time. In three words, was not good. Got the steak burrito. Very bland. Could not tell what type of steak it was in the burrito. It was bad. I was expecting skirt steak but I don't think it was and if it was it was really lousy. Anyway, it doesn't matter how big the burrito is if it stinks. Memo's steak burrito was way better. The highland location food is excellent. The issue I had was the service. The waitresses never around and never came to ask if there was anything we needed. You had one only stand by the cash register and would go to the back when I tried to get her attention. Each time I go there the waitresses are slow to take my order. I thought I give it one last try and food was great service terrible. Don't think I'm going back again. read more

This place is the bomb. I really enjoy good Mexican Food, and they never disappoint at Fat Burrito. Menu is not extensive but they are really good at what they do here. Went there bc reviews seemed good, not the case for me, after we sat down and gave order it took about an hour to receive, it seemed as if they were making all the walk-ins before the people sitting for food, no one had anything but chips and salsa on the tables for as long as we didn't, the salsa had no real flavor. I had the steak taco and meat seemed a little on the fatty side the chicken flauta had no flavor as well, will probably not return. read more

I was very impressed with Fat Burrito! I'm a born and raised Chicago girl, therefore I was lucky enough to be raised with amazingly diverse foods. And yes, I actually mean Chicago and not a suburb of. I recently hopped states and moved to Indiana, and good Mexican food has been something I've missed like crazy! I have ate here probably about 9 times, I have had many good experiences, and the food is always as good or better that you expect from a fast Mexican pick-up place. However, I did want to mention that when I went there last night and ordered 3 meals, plus Large Guac, and Large Cheese, they sent two bags of chips, each had about a handful of chips in them?? Did not make sense, then they charged me $1 a bag for two more with only a handful of chips lol, Other times, I received huge bag of chips, just for getting salsa. But other than that the Burrito's and Taco's were very good! Probably won't return again, because I LOVE CHIPS :) read more

Took the family there on Halloween night for dinner. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered the "fat burritos" and they were HUGE. Very tasty, steak was seasoned deliciously. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. Being of hispanic decent this place is the best around they have authentic Mexican food which is rare for the area. They recently moved to a larger location which shows they are busy but not lacking in service. They are very attentive and and friendly which is sometimes rear for busy places. The fat burrito is massive and even the regular size burrito is still large enough for 2 meals, especially because I always fill up on their chips, salsa and amazing white cheese dip! pLace is a little difficult to find tucked away in a small strip mall. I was seated promptly by all male staff. Nice menu selection. I ordered. The Buritto Suizza for $5.99. Chips and salsa promptly brought to table. Very good, I received my order within 15 minutes.Choice of Red or Green pepper sauce coved my Buritto . This is a very diverse group of customers from business people to construction workers. Everyone has a take home box when you leave.. This was my first visit, and I will go back again and again.
