I love the food from Fat Daddy's and was so excited to have one in A2. My issue is the staff absolutely do not want to work and are not concerned in the least with making food that has been ordered. I've run into issues every time I've ordered from this location. The "order wasn't received" until the people working went and looked, to their dismay, it had been there for about 20 minutes. Because the staff is uninterested in working, you will wait significantly longer than reasonable. The food is good, if you feel like waiting at least 30 minutes. Or in the same amount of time, you could drive to the Riverview location and they'd have your food done in no time. I hope they can find staff that cares about getting people the food they want in a timely manner. read more

The chicken and waffles at this place are so good. They have improved the waffles from last time I was here. The chicken was cooked perfect, moist and flavorful! If it was for the food alone I'd give this place a 5, maybe pick up is the way to go here. Pro-tip: get a 2nd syrup right away. The negatives: this is the 2nd visit one year later where if you spend more than 30 minutes in the establishment your eyes burn due to poor ventilation. The problem is it took 22 minutes to get our food after we ordered with only two other people in the restaurant. The ice is still in short supply. The bathroom's are missing soap and tp and dirty 20 minutes after opening which tells you that's not from today. The storefront doesn't do this place justice! I was planning to have lunch next door but found a very long line waiting for me. Thankfully we saw this spot and changed course! I had the suga momma. Heat level: hot. Really fantastic flavor and just the right spice level. It's supposed to come with pickles but they were absent, thats really my only gripe. The fries were quality too. Stopped here because we got a flat on the famous Michigan potholes, and the closest tire shop was nearby. Tenders were small, we ordered "hot" which we were told meant medium, but still pretty spicy so just an fyi on heat level. Mac and cheese was pretty good too. read more

I've been to Fat Daddy's before, the original one in Riverview some time ago. They have great fried chicken sandwiches, but I decided to go with the tenders and fries. I was the only one there at the time I placed my order and was hoping my food would be done fairly quick. The first thing that got under my skin was when I went to fill my Coke Zero at the fountain machine, there wasn't any (just water came out). I asked the employee about it and he said he was on it, but for whatever reason he couldn't solve the issue so I ended up getting a different beverage. It just seemed odd that they just opened like an hour ago and did not have their machine ready to go for the day? On top of that it took 20 minutes to get my food when all was said and done, and I was the first of many people who ended up showing up after me. I intended on dining in, but I was running out of time and needed to be somewhere. My food ended up being delicious thankfully. Just know that even if you are the only one there you're gonna end up waiting awhile. I got the impression that prep work and communication were lacking at this establishment. read more

Ann Arbor desperately needed a good fried chicken place, so I was overjoyed when I discovered Fat Daddy's newer location here. The food did not disappoint - everything was incredible and the portion sizes were substantial. We ate fries for days afterwards. They still have some hiccups -- the place was short staffed the day we picked up food and the wait we experienced was pretty crazy. Stopped by to check out the place. Went with the 2 tender - got it hot, it came with fries, pickles and peppers. I also ordered the side of coleslaw, mac-n-cheese and a fountain drink. I would definitely recommend their tenders - four stars because of the tenders!! Juicy and moist, hot was the perfect spice level. It had kick to it, but not to the point of burning your taste bud. When the spice kicked in, had some coleslaw to tame the spice down. Now, the coleslaw wasn't anything to write home about. It was under seasoned - could have used some extra mayo, salt, sugar and vinegar. It's one of those things to try on your first visit, but definitely not a regular thing to order. The mac-n-cheese was decent, but honestly had better. Fries were excellent. You can use the self order kiosk, order using the app or with the staff. The one drawback to dining here - you walk out smelling like grease. This would indicate their ventilation/hood is not working properly. I had to fabreze my jacket after getting home. read more

Stopped by for the first time today. Was really excited to try as I heard they serve halal chicken. I initially thought $15 for a chicken sandwich was a bit much, but when I saw the size of these sandwiches it made sense. These sandwiches are huge - I could only eat half. I got the Fat Daddy sandwich and the chicken was so juicy and flavorful. The Comeback sauce was so good. The bun was a little cold but not that bad. You can choose your spice level and I got Hot which was not hot at all. I do think their spice level isn't consistent because my sister in law also got Hot but hers was a lot spicer than mine. All the sandwiches come with fries.I felt the fries could of done with extra seasoning and be a little crispier. The inside space had a good amount of seating. I'm not sure how I've never heard of this place before but it's GOOOOOOOD!!!! I crave fried chicken like once a year but I haven't found a decent place. I looked up the business and it looks like there are two owners and they wanted a southern style kind of recipe and let me tell you it's GOOD! Decided to try this place since hot chicken is popular. We got tenders and wings. I had some misgivings because it took longer than one would expect. The tenders were tasty and well cooked. The seasoning was nice, but the wings were undercooked (although I asked for extra well done) and waffles rubbery--I wonder if they sat in the container for a while. Very hit or miss experience based on who is working. I've been several times and either get the chicken tenders or the Fat Daddy. At times the chicken has been extremely greasy and sloppily prepared. Other times it's been a 5 star experience and flat out awesome. It seems like there's inconsistency depending on who is preparing it. Because of this inconsistency I can only give it 3 stars. It was my first time ordering from here. Ordered over the phone. I ordered the Mac Daddy sandwich, and asked for slaw on the side because I saw it didn't come with the sandwich and I wanted to try it. Went to the store, tipped, picked up my order. Got home, there was no slaw. Since their receipts don't show prices of what you paid for, I called to get a refund for the slaw that I thought I had paid for. I wasn't even rude about it. But with attitude, argument and no understanding or apology for not clarifying and helping the customer at the time of order, they told me I didn't order specifically "a side of slaw" but that since I asked for slaw "on the side" and the sandwich obviously didn't come with slaw, they just didn't give me any. Well duh, that's why I specifically asked for slaw on the side. I wasn't expecting any freebies. They could have said "slaw doesn't come on the sandwich, so would you like to order a side of slaw?"
