"Leave the gun, take the cannoli."
    Nate N.

We went to Fat Olives to celebrate our niece's graduation from Northern Arizona University, and with it being graduation weekend, having reservations turned out to be a great decision. There was a line out the door when we arrived, but since we had reservations, we were seated immediately. This place has been featured on the Food Network's "Top Places to Eat," so it's easy to understand why they're so popular. The tables are also somewhat small, so things can feel a bit cramped once the restaurant gets busy. The food was incredible and the drinks were equally impressive. They have a great selection of cocktails, beer, wine, and mocktails. The Basil Lemon Drop made with house-made limoncello was especially refreshing on a warm day. For our table of eight, we started with the bacon marmalade bruschetta, goat cheese bruschetta, and the wood-fired stracciatella with prosciutto. Everything was fantastic. The bruschetta boards each came with four pieces, and the stracciatella included four crostinis plus plenty of prosciutto to share. For entrees, we ordered several pizzas including the Ms. Piggy, Carnivore, and Belgio Dolce -- the same pizza Guy Fieri featured -- along with lasagna, pesto spaghetti, and rigatoni. Every dish was excellent, and the pizzas were large enough to easily feed two people. Even after all that food, we still made room for dessert and ordered the crème brûlée cheesecake, tiramisu, cannoli, and a couple espresso martinis. I only tried the cannoli because I was completely stuffed by then, but it absolutely delivered. The service was outstanding. Jennifer did an amazing job taking care of our large group and making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. I also loved the option on the menu where you can buy a 6-pack for the kitchen crew to show appreciation for their hard work. We figured one wasn't enough for the whole staff, so we bought five 6-packs instead. This would have easily been a 5-star experience if not for a couple issues. Originally, we made a reservation for 16 several weeks in advance. We received a confirmation the night before, but then got a cancellation notice just a few hours before the reservation. Our first phone call to the restaurant ended with us being disconnected, though thankfully the second call resolved everything. We later found out their reservation system automatically cancels large reservations unless they're booked as private dining. We also reduced our party size to 8, which helped. The other issue came at the end of the meal when the manager asked our table to leave. I understand we had been there for about two and a half hours and they likely wanted to turn the table, especially during a busy graduation weekend. Still, there were no time limits mentioned when we booked the reservation, so it left a sour note at the end of what had otherwise been an amazing dining experience. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend this place if you're in Flagstaff and craving Italian food -- just don't expect to keep your table for the entire night.

Update: We still love Fat Olives. Our bartender (Isla) last night was a real sweetheart and a darn good mixoligist too. We enjoyed cocktails, a couple Caesars, and a Ms Piggy pizza. Everything was great per usual. The space was lively and everyone was having a good time.

Oh my goodness, this place! I found out about it from social media and the Food Network. We were looking forward to eating here our whole trip, and we are seriously sad we can't eat here more often due to distance! You're greeted with a signed Guy Fieri poster hanging in their entrance. We were seated promptly in a cozy booth. The kitchen is open and you can see them tossing the pizza dough up in the air occasionally. Such a cute little restaurant! Michael (Mike), was our server and he was so great. He said he's been working there for 11 years. I told him how I knew about the place and he said the episode on Food Network aired in 2017 and things have never been the same since! I can imagine! He really knew the menu well and took the time to tell us about the restaurant and their certifications. This place is a VPN Certified pizzeria by Verace Pizza Napoletana! I love that they also designate what Guy ate on their menu. I went with the Belgio Dolce Pizza, the 3rd place winner at the International Pizza Expo in 2014. The pizza is white sauce based, with house-made mozzarella, pecorino romano, oregano, shaved brussel sprouts, calabrian chili oil, Molinari soppressata, local honey and crushed pistachios. Mind blowingly amazing. My oldest got the chicken Parmesan on Mike's suggestion and my youngest got their version of a meat lovers pizza. They each got an Italian soda and I got a mocktail cherry smash--delicious! Mike suggested their tiramisu for dessert--stating it's a modest portion, good for sharing. I told him we aren't the biggest fans of tiramisu, but he assured us theirs was amazing--more custard and not very coffee-y. He said if we didn't like it, he'd buy it. Okay, sold! WOW! Best tiramisu EVER! We LOVED it! Everything was phenomenal! I'm so thankful we were able to try this place out! If I'm ever in Flagstaff again, I'm coming here again for sure, and will even ask for Mike! :)

This is a clear local favorite. We visited on graduation day and it was packed. Indoor and outdoor seating options; large and small groups. Service was excellent, and the food too. Highly recommend.

A solid, satisfying pizza. Above average, but not really anything particularly exciting. The toppings were well distributed but lacked seasoning and the cheese was sparse. Admittedly I'm an absolute fiend for cheese so that may be personal preference!

We found this Based on a local PBS show we saw on you tube and not Triple D. It has a rating from Naples that claims their pizzas are made authentic. I it is fun to see them toss the dough in front of you. Probably the best Margarita pizza I've ever had. We also had a burrata chile infused side dish. That was great. Service was wonderful I see why people come here. The happy hour was very generous with discount prices on drinks and some items. I'm giving it a 4 because I don't understand why they charged a 4% flagstaff service fee. We originally thought it was a city thing they couldn't help. We ate at two other places and were not charged this fee. And again I feel like restaurants should put this information on menu at the door on the table ahead of time if they are going to do it.

I enjoyed everything about Fat Olives! We were seated at the bar and I'm so glad we were. The bartender was amazing. You can tell she truly loves her job. She made great drinks (I tried the mule with house made limoncello and strawberry) and provided excellent service. We tried the Cesar salad, lasagna and pepperoni pizza. Everything was fresh and the pizza was wood fired to perfection.

Visited the restaurant on Saturday, super busy even it's 1.30pm, way past lunch time. This review was for the arugula salad and pesto ham pizza (ms piggy). The pizza and salad were big portion. I like the sweet pecan bits on the salad, the salad dressing was light and refreshing. Pesto pizza was delicious with the ham and pesto sauce. We waited for 30 minutes to get seated, once we placed our order, the food came out quick within 10 minutes. Overall good food, quick and friendly service. Will be back soon for other things in the menu

Fat Olives is the must visit Italian restaurant in Flagstaff. It's a quaint and ethnic dining area with an open view of the kitchen. Very Italian in the feel and lighting. There's plenty of room but the place gets packed. The servers and waiting staff are great. I had the meatball appetizer and they were fabulous!!! The Miss Piggy pizza is a creamy pesto pie with mortadella bacon crumble and caramelized onions. I enjoyed that pizza, especially the Neapolitan style crust thin inside with puffy crust. Terrific!!! I came because I visited place Guy Fieri visited on Diners Drive ins and Dives. This one was a good find, a strongly recommend you come enjoy this gem joint.

I love Guy Fieri, so I had to come eat here on my most recent trip to Flagstaff. Even on a Monday night, this place hardly had any reservations available but were able to accommodate us last minute since we came in early (around 4:30 pm). Ambiance here is cozy and inviting, what you'd expect from an Italian restaurant. Their happy hour specials were great - a strong margarita for $5.50? Yes please. We were able to get a few rounds of those while waiting for the rest of the party to show up. We kicked things off with the burrata appetizer which was delicious and packed with prosciutto. I had to get the Belgio Dolce pizza, which Guy ate, as my main. What a mix of flavors - Brussel sprouts, Calabrian chili, Soppressata plus honey drizzle? Yes please. Waitstaff was incredibly accommodating as well. 10/10 spot if you're in the area.

    Daniel L.

Service by Isaac was great! Came for weekday dinner and seated at pizza bar on walk in. Market salad with smoked salmon - great to have fresh Parmesan Diavola pizza - a bit oily for me and the crust was hard, perhaps a bit overcooked Lasagna - fresh tomato flavor - personally would've liked a bit more veggies like mushroom Pistachio gelato - very pistachio tasting! Would like to try blood orange sorbet or tiramisu next time

Fat Olives is a great Italian restaurant located in Flagstaff. The parking lot is extremely small and easy to miss when driving but. Fat Olives is extremely busy and if you don't make a reservation, the wait can be a few hours. Make a reservation days ahead. With all that being noted, I have been to Fat Olives many times throughout the years and they have never failed to deliver the quality they are known for. Even though it is extremely busy, the service is fantastic. Our waiter was extremely kind and attentive and the atmosphere while lively was extremely calming. Fat Olives is known for their pizza, they have a brick oven from Italy and it makes a complete difference. I ordered the Fat Olives pizza and added prosciutto (not baked in, added afterwards). While it has ricotta on it, the pizza was "dangerously" light (easy to eat the whole thing in one sitting). The flavors are fresh and the tomato sauce was the perfect level of acidity. Someone else in my group ordered the Pesto Spaghetti, the spaghetti comes coated with a perfect amount of pesto and two crispy pieces of prosciutto. The spaghetti also is "dangerously" light and it is extremely flavorful and fresh. If you are feeling like eating pasta, this one is the way to go.

Fat olives Signature lasagna, belgio dolce pizza, marinated oven roasted olives

The food here was definitely worth the visit in flagstaff. We ordered the lasagna, belgio pizza, meatballs, marinated oven roasted olives. Service was alright, could have been better in my opinion. We weren't checked up on unless we had called our waiter. The belgio pizza was definitely worth its hype. I would not have thought pistachios would go on mozzarella. The olives were a perfect balance of tang to the sweet. The lasagna was nice and hot. We could have used some more pepper flakes and Parmesan on the table.

This is a very classy Italian restaurant in Flagstaff. This location does have happy hour every day which I would recommend because it is a little bit. We missed the happy hour and took a venture down the main menu. We started off with several drinks ( my Hugo was light and refreshing) and then got the whipped ricotta appetizer and the calamari appetizer. The whipped ricotta was light fluffy, and divine. For main courses our family had the chicken Parmesan, which came with a nice and large chicken portion as well as the chicken pesto pasta with pinenuts, which was my favorite. We were stuffed. It may have been because we were there for lunch or it was just a Wednesday lull but we were able to get a table right away. The waiter was prompt and was very professional. I had the ravioli with ground beef and cheese and the alfredo sauce. Let me tell you, I only use the word sauce because that is what you would expect someone to call it, but, to me, it was more of a cheese gravy. I'm not complaining, not in the least bit, if they had biscuits and 'gravy' on the menu and it was this sauce there is no amount of GLP1 meds to fight the weight I would put on. Appetizer? garlic bread and the alfredo sauce. Desert? just a glass of alfredo please. My partner had the Calabrian Chile & Burrata Pasta with peas and it had a nice heat on it that grew on you. She kept trying to get me to have a bite, but I was in alfredo heaven. It's been only a few days since we've eaten there but we still talk about how great the food it. Negatives is that the tea was not good. I think that is more the water in Arizona and less the restaurant but that could just be me. While it did not impact us, I could see where someone might not like how small it is, but if you know what you're getting into you should be fine. Arrived on time and here is where my disappointment began: Turned away because our table wasn't ready. It wasn't the wait, but the attitude of the hostess. Like we were an annoyance. Once seated we order wine and apps. Before we even got our apps we were asked for our dinner order. This is not appropriate for a supposed fine dining establishment. Didn't get one of the apps we ordered. Waitstaff didn't come back to check on us, and then a different server dropped off our meals. And that was the last time anyone checked on us. We were blatantly ignored. Had to ask for the check. No acknowledgement of our celebration. Our plates were never cleared. The suggestion of dessert was more of a dare. We declined. I don't intend this review to discourage future diners, but to bring service problems to management. It could have been the lack of waitstaff, or poor reservation management. But I've seen too many restaurants with potential die due to service issues. I'm so sad for our célébrée more than anything. BUT the food was excellent and the choice of Chianti quite good!

The menu features creative contemporary American cuisine with an emphasis on sharing plates, which made the experience even more fun. We ordered two appetizers, two mains, and a dessert, and overall everything was excellent. My only critique would be the Duck Taquitos. The duck flavor was not there, and the mesquite mole sauce leaned too sweet for my taste. Aside from that, every dish impressed us. Overall, it was a fantastic meal and a great dining experience. App was very good, pile of prosciutto with a ball of creamy cheese. Pizzas came out quick, was amazed at how fast they were out, we had barely touched the appetizer. Both pizzas were really good. I plowed through mine in no time and ate the last piece of my wife's! Could have been cooked a minute or so longer to crisp up the crust but otherwise were really good For dessert we got the gelato, I had strawberry and the wife had sea salt chocolate. Both were good but wife was blown away but how good the sea salt was! Loved it, service was good, friendly and always checking in Seats weren't great, metal stools at high top tables, found them to be really uncomfortable. Guess they don't want you staying long! Really enjoyed it and would definitely go back

A Masterclass in Modern American Fine Dining…read more My recent dinner at Atria in downtown Flagstaff was, quite simply, an exceptional experience from start to finish. Chef Rochelle Daniel has created a space that perfectly balances upscale elegance with a warm, inviting atmosphere, making it a true standout in the region. We started the evening with their incredible oyster selection. The oysters with the cucumber granita were a masterclass in refreshing, clean flavors--a perfect, bright start to the meal. We also indulged in the oysters with caviar beurre blanc, which provided a stunning, decadent contrast; the richness of the beurre blanc paired with the briny pop of caviar was unforgettable. Another standout from the starters was the foie gras cornets--delicate, playful, and incredibly rich, they were a brilliant opening note for the palate. The beet salad was another highlight. Far from a simple starter, the charcoal-roasted preparation brought out a beautiful depth and earthiness, elevated by the perfect balance of creamy textures and crunchy toppings. For the main, the duck entrée was flawless. The skin was perfectly rendered, and the meat was incredibly tender, showcasing the kitchen's technical prowess. To complement the meal, we enjoyed a bottle of Michael David Inkblot Cabernet Franc. It was a fantastic choice--bold and velvety with those classic notes of dark fruit and a hint of spice that held up beautifully against the richness of the duck and the earthiness of the beets. What truly elevated the presentation was the stunning pottery. Every dish was served on beautiful, locally crafted ceramic pieces that added a tactile, artisanal feel to the table. It's a thoughtful detail that grounds the high-end cuisine in the spirit of Northern Arizona. We finished the evening on a high note with a round of perfectly pulled espressos and the coconut macaroons. The macaroons were the ideal final bite--crispy on the outside, wonderfully chewy on the inside, and just the right amount of sweetness to round out the experience. From the thoughtful presentation of every plate to the impeccable, knowledgeable service, everything about the evening felt intentional and memorable. Atria is not just a meal; it is a culinary experience that showcases the very best of Northern Arizona's ingredients. It is a must-visit.

We asked for their best and most popular drink. They gave us an orange monstrosity that was…read moreridiculously difficult to drink. An abomination of a sidecar, not quite straight orange liqueur. Could barely finish my 20+$ drink. Bread was VERY crusty. Not fluffy, and coated in oil. Other than that the food was good. We picked this place because it was supposed to be the best in Flagstaff. We enjoyed it, service was good, the place itself is amazing. The bathroom smell was delicious but too potent. I loved being able to see the exposed kitchen area in the back!
