Being only a tad peckish and not wanting to eat at the same places we could've stayed in London for (Costa, Pizza Express, EAT) we opted for this cheap and cheerful looking place. Cheep and Cheerful it is. £4.00 for two good size baguettes, Cheese & Onion and Mexican Tuna (a new for me). I had to chuckle that the lady at the counter felt she had to warn me about the Cheese & Onion sandwich containing salad. The baguettes were filled to the brim. Nothing special in their quality and ingredients, but filled that hole and great value for money. There was a wide choice of filling available in baguette and pannini - Although the prices of the paninis were probably more than double the baguette prices. They also offered an array of Spuds and Soups and even a breakfast tray. Along with your favorite filled goods there's shelves of pop and chocolate bars to choose from.

They serve the normal range of breakfast butties, tea, coffee etc,. in the mornings at a really reasonable price, and at lunches have a massive choice. They have the usual salads, wraps and sandwiches, but have also started dabbling in chinese dishes which is long overdue (nowhere else in the town centre does a Chinese lunch buffet as far as I am aware!). They deliver to your door if you work in the town cenre, you can pre-order, and they are always laughing and smiling - what more could you want? Oh and they are also of the attitude that they want to gear their business around what the customer wants so they welcome honest feedback and want suggestions of what they are missing on the menu. Quality is of utmost importance to Donna and I have known her throw whole cakes away that she has baked because she thinks they are not 'quite' to standard - even though they have seemed fine to me. All the dishes are prepared by hand by Donna or her small team. The only one little negative I guess is its quite small so you may be pushed to find a seat at busy times, especially outside as there are only a couple of tables. I've only ever popped in here a couple of times for a coffee on the go, and with a sign out front declaring 'proper coffee' available it gives you hope for a good brew. Sadly I was left disappointed. I'm not sure if the guy who served me is normally the cook or whether they were shorthanded but my Vanilla Latte was just meh. I can honestly say i don't think i've ever been asked how much vanilla before and do I also want sugar. Having said this the coffee itself was tasty, it was just the vanilla part of the latte that was a fail. Although i haven't eaten here they seem to do a good range for veggies and the food is generally cheap to eat here. Whilst they do have places to sit outside as well as inside, it's small size and busy lunch queues does make it feel too crushed for a relaxing bite to eat. Worth trying if you need something on the go but unless you are passing through or work over the St. Paul's, Jewellery Quarter area it's a bit out of the way to make a point in visiting.

I often grab a sandwich or jacket potato from here and I love the food. They also do breakfast snacks and hot/cold drinks to take away. Not really a place to eat in though there is a small bar area with a couple of stools. They close pretty early everyday so this is really just a breakfast, brunch or lunch place.

I've been using this place for just over ten years and their ham and cheese baguettes (no mayo) still taste as good as they always have done, despite quite a sharp rise in price over the years. Whereas its only real contender, Little Hampton Baguettes, went to the wall about eighteen months ago - the Upper Crust maintains the upper hand and if you're stuck for somewhere to grab some takeaway lunch, it's worth the short stroll up the hill to seek out. Plus, if the weather's nice you can stroll back down and eat it in the gardens of Holy Trinity. That's what I do anyway; if you ever see us, give us a wave.
