I have got my hair styled/curled dozens of times and always takes 40-50 minutes, never more then that. This time, I made a appointment 2 weeks before for 12pm, as I have to be out by 1pm and have a wedding to attend, not to mention I need to do the make-up of family members beforehand. I showed the hairdresser my hair and told me it would only take her 45 minutes. Long story short, I arrived on time that day, 15 minutes into curling and pinning up my hair, the hairdressers friend walked in complaining about a problem she had with hair, she had no appointment, so the hairdresser left doing my hair and worked on her friends for about 30 minutes. After she returned, she pinned up my hair and left it for too long. By the time she was removing my pins it was 1:40, I told her I would finish it off at home with the teasing and brushing out. She knew I was annoyed and blamed it on my hair by saying "Your hair is very thick! Thats why it took so long" in a jokingly way, actually it took long because she left me for ages to attend to her friend. I ended up leaving at 1.45, when I should of been finished an hour ago. I was extremely late and had people waiting on me, which was added stress to the other things I needed done that day. Either way, I loved the curls and the previous visits I had, I just personally think that a client shouldn't be left for the hairdresser to attend to friends.

The service is pretty good, and the price isn't bad either, though that no doubt has more to do with buzz cuts than anything else (something that I generally don't go for). Traditionally those themes would be either "old school barber shop" or "new style metro salon". Joe's... really doesn't follow either of those themes. Regardless of the layout of the place, the one thing that counts is the haircut. Well I've never had a problem with any haircut in the place. The hairdressers don't talk much and while they normally keep one eye on whatever sporting event is on TV at the time, they always do a good job on the haircut at hand. Their prices are a cut below most other salons out there, so it's well worth trying them out and saving a few dollars.

Okay, it has now changed hands, which is a bit of a shame, but I guess the original owner had been running the place since I was a kid, and that was a very long time ago. One gripe though is the surcharge for long hair, and sometimes I wonder what one's definition of long hair is. Well, basically when I go and get my hair cut would fall into that category.

Not holding it against me, she has been there through dark, light, long, short, bad cuts from other places and everything in between. If she tells me something will look wack, I trust her judgment. However she won't just shut it down but work with me to find a solution we're both happy with.
