I've been using FCS (Fin Control Systems) fins since I was a youngster living back in Western OZ, and I continue to use them to this day. I absolutely love rockin' their Quads and Tri-Quads, along wiv their straight up Thruster fins, that I began using as a little surfer boy :D It's obviously where my bias towards FCS began, as a spoiled little surfin' nutter! Fin Control Systems (FCS) is also is a PROUD Aussie company. FCS has been around for eons, they're somewhat archaic, but in a good way. FCS didn't really go commercial til the late 90's. So FCS definitely has the skills, competence, and experience, backed by some amazing research, to produce the top fins in the world.
There was never any hesitation about the most proper fin and setup to run, ever. Everybody that I grew up wiv and surfed with in Western OZ, Southern OZ, and those who I've been fortunate enough to surf wiv around the globe, rocked FCS fins. I jus recently ordered a new set of FCS K2.1 PC Quad Fins, the same setup that the Greatest Surfer on Planet Earth uses, Kelly Slater. I've tried other fins, such as Dorsal, Speed Fins and Red-X; but nothing comes close to FCS, in my opinion, especially for the diversity, feel, and performance that FCS offers. The FCS K2.1 PC Quad Fins, are certainly not your daddy's traditional fiberglass fins (this reference is to you pops).
The FCS fins are made using an injected resin transfer moulding (RTM). This method undoubtedly produces the most flexible, lightweight, and smooth feeling fins I've ever surfed. FCS headquarters is located in Mona Vale, NSW; but they do have offices and distributers setup across the globe. The have offices in Hawaii, Japan, USA (San Diego), and I believe France. FCS also carries an incredible line of boardbags, leashes, traction pads and some cool rashies, if your wetsuit jus isn't cuttin it, or is cuttin it, giving you some wicked irriatation. I couldn't resist calling me home and find out if me package arrived, according to Adriana, the package label reads Clairemont Surf Shop....OOH YEAH, which means two things, FCS fins and Christmas came early! read more
