I'm continuously amazed at the huge responsibilities that they have twenty four hours a day, three hundred and sixty five days a year. It's my opinion that FDNY needs more resources considering our aging buildings. There's a lot of Fire Education needed for the general public. They are serving around 8 million NYC residents. People move in and out of the city. I let them know how much I appreciate their service every time I see them. I'm posting this review on Thanksgiving 2022 to once again say THANK YOU! I'm recommending you New Yorker's do the same!

Much better and more modern facilities than the Old York Town Police Department…read more The New York City Fire Department are pretty wonderful in many ways (except maybe on Law & Order when they get into fights with the cops due to shady goings on), and a lot more friendly than some of the other New York officials you might encounter. They've done a lot of Brave things over the years, not least on 9/11. It's too sad to talk about that, to be honest. I still don't think we have a clue who or what was behind that and I hope that someday everyone behind it will be brought to justice so all these brave people can have a little more peace, perhaps. This is a great house for a great crew, and everyone in the city should be thankful that they do what they do so well.

They had a wonderful time and talked about it for days after! The EMTS and Paramedics there are very professional and accommodated all of our students and made it a very worthwhile community trip. The Department works to continually educate the public in fire, life safety and disaster preparedness, along with enforcing public safety codes. Since its inception in 1865, FDNY has helped lead efforts to make New York the safest big city in the nation. Unfortunately I see them hard at work all too often in my neighborhood. Fires are common when you have old residential buildings. Restaurant fires are all to common too. Along with the NYPD these men are risking their lives daily. I'm glad to support their efforts as much as I can and appreciate seeing them in my neighborhood. This Fire Station is a safe haven for anyone in trouble. They are always on duty.

We love visiting the Ghostbusters Headquarters and come at least once each time we visit NYC! The…read morefirehouse itself is awesome, so fun to see it with the Ghostbusters signage and decals. It's a must-see for all Ghostbusters fans. As it is a working fire station, there are always firefighters there and most are super kind and generous answering questions. On our most recent visit in January 2026, one of them informed us they are no longer allowed to sell merch. Such a bummer!!!

This is our local fire dept battalion station located on 85th street. I've seen these brave…read morefirefighters answer emergency calls in the area, battle fires, and help the local community in a variety of situations. This station lost nine firefighters during the 9/11 attacks. You can still view the memorial with their names and photos on the outside wall by the main entrance. RIP to them, we salute your bravery. On occasion if I had a question about how my landlord was handling fire safety I would visit them and ask my questions. They are definitely helpful and there's always someone around to assist me. Today I saw them on Third Avenue and was fascinated with what they were doing as there wasn't a fire involved. The nice Fireman said they were practicing. He said they practice so they will be ready when there is an emergency. I'm a huge fan of the FDNY as this city has many fire hazards. Can you imagine having a job where you put your life on the line every time you go to work. Or when you're called to come in to work unexpectedly. I thanked these Firemen today for their service. I suggest you do the same any chance you get.
