There is nothing to do here for a beginner except maybe play with this tiny pyramid and try to learn how to skate transition, The shallow concrete is pretty Jenky it's far jankier than the deep end and the jankyness slows you down a lot, so keep that in mind. The roll in just throws you into the wall unless you go in sideways like a surfer or something and it's pretty sketch doing that, I'd say it's great for round wall and vert riders the vert side is just barely 8' so it's a great entry point for the vert curious to get your feet wet, bring softer wheels as the rough pavement isn't letting you slide out super easy which is a plus for some and a minus for others.

This skatepark near the Art Museum was conceived in 2002, and brought to fruition in 2013. It was…read moremade from unutilized space, and is now accessible from another city project, the Schuylkill River Trail. I saw kids get on Regional Rail in the 'burbs, and be able to access this park via Schuylkill River Trail from 30th Street Station. It was great to see this so available to urban and suburban kids alike. I didn't see any posted rules, so I assume this was okay, but a group of kids on bikes were occupying one area, doing various tricks, while two other noticeable areas were available for skateboarders. It was very fun to watch everyone doing their stuff. There is graffiti all over the ramps and flat space. It is contained to the skatepark, so I'm guessing they gave a paint party to make it look authentic? Either that or our city graffiti artists are respectful of trail vs skatepark boundaries. My only complaint was it seemed overgrown. There are no grass patches growing through cracks in pavement or anything like that (I saw no cracks anyway), but the planting beds were straggly, and just really overcrowded with uncultivated sapling trees and weeds as big as bushes. If it were spring, allergies would be going haywire. All in all a great use of greenspace. It's just really in need of landscapers.

So, I've been to Red Bank Battlefield numerous times. A few times for group picnics and other times…read morejust to walk along the Delaware waterfront. And each time is simply wonderful. If you want to host an event, you can reserve one of the pavilions to hold a BBQ cookout. There is a kids' play area for the little ones too. There's also a huge open lawn for outdoor activities, although it isn't the best spot because of all the goose droppings. Now, if they got the goose population under control, it would be awesome for football, frisbee, or volleyball. Alternatively, if you want some time to yourself to stroll the walking trail, it's certainly peaceful and serene, with gorgeous views of Philadelphia from the New Jersey side looking out across the Delaware River. Plus, the park has a lot of history, so be sure to take time to appreciate that aspect! PRO TIP: Saturdays are obviously the busiest, with all the group gatherings, so arrive early to find parking. The parking lot tends to fill up quickly during those times.
