The couple who own the business really love their pieces, and admit to having great fun collecting them. Their beautiful golden retriever is always in the store, normally sprawled in the middle of the floor somewhere, and quite happy for a pat. The prices reflect the nature of antiques, though some of the pieces are not worth what is asked for them, because you could get something the same for less than half the price at an op-shop. They do however collect some beautiful pieces, like oriental side tables and gorgeous old 'bedroom couches' that have storage in the seats. The coolest collectable I've seen in here was a transforming, two-sided set of shelves which could become a chest, or a set of shelves with stairs along the side, which could then lock into each other and become a square shelf. You could access it from both sides so it makes a great room divider. It's made entirely from a high-quality wood with a beautiful polish. The owners had definitely fallen in love with this one, but they let it go, for $1,300. For little beauties like this one, the Buyers Market is always fun to poke through.

If you think you can grab a bargain at The Buyer's Market, think again. A lovely wooden dining table I saw cost around $600 and a nice set of outdoor glass furniture (a table and 2 chairs) were, all together, more than 1000 bucks. If you do have a bit of spare cash and are willing to spend it on some furniture, have a look here. This antique store is run by Suzanne and Clayton Tregilgas. Both Sue and Clayton are avid collectors so they know what they're looking for when it comes to sourcing old stuff. Their Duthy Street store is filled with all sorts of antiques and you can find almost anything there. I saw a vintage trike, a rather funky vintage ladies hat, old glass jugs, chairs, plates, glasses, toys, lamps, picture frames, crockery ... phew the list goes on and on. My one word of advice is when you visit, is to make sure you give yourself plenty of time to have a good look through the entire store because it does take time to look at everything properly. Sue Claytables Antiques also specialise in collecting old Lego with a range of classic Lego for sale. Any lego sourced by Sue is usually built first before its put on display. Go and have a look through the shop if you're in the market for old bits and bobs.

The name of this store drew me in. It suggests funky cool grungy type of stuff for your home, and it definitely delivers. The stock choices for the store are a little more on the quirky side, some cool old cowboy boots, weird old toys, chests and lots of tools and mechanical gear. There was one item that was of particular interest. There was a vintage medical examination table from New York for sale. It had styrips, draws and weird mechanics. Oh it was wonderful. Reminds me of something from a crazy anatomist film. If only I had $6000.... Apart from that I founds some cool old door handles and some tools for my partner. There is lots on offer to suit anyone interested in antiques and quirky objects to decorate your home.

The shop is not just unusual furniture, they also have smaller furnishings and items of interest, some clothes, vinyl and old mags. It's kind of a store of all the greatest stuff ever found at garage sales - a 'best of' if you will. Get into it.

There were some really nice dining room tables which you knew would be good quality for (not a cheap) good price. What else did they have which made me fall in love? A jukebox. A jukebox with a USB port? Awesome. It was all lit up and flashing lights and playing good music and I just really wanted to take it home then and there. There are a lot of things here from the 19th and 20th century from places like England, France, and even Asia. Definitely worth having a look through.

The range of wooden furniture is extensive, and there are so many beautiful pieces in here. I let out a lot of "wows" and "ohhhs" as I went, wishing I had the house and money to fill my house with these pieces. One element that stood out was the range of clocks. I happened to be there right on 2pm, so I got to hear the clocks clang the time in all their different voices. If you're a lover of antiques, or just of beautiful furniture, this is a must visit.

I must admit it did take me a while to find my fur, mainly because it took me so long to make it up stairs, and that's because I was distracted by the jewelery. So much vintage jewelery...you know, the stuff you used to drool over in your nanna's jewelery box when you were 6, and maybe like me, you haven't stopped drooling. The broaches, the hat pins, the hair pins, the earrings, the bracelets and the rings, it's almost too much to process; like a sugar overload. Another cool thing is that they have a hug book shelf dedicated to matchbox cars and there are so many random/ weird household items to explore! I will say that it gets slightly creepy as you delve further into the store, there's a book shed out the back which resembles a small library, this place has everything.

At first I was a bit baffled because there only seemed to be antiques in the store, that is until I looked out the back and found a huge collection of books. I have to admit that their books actually aren't that great, and some of them are a little over priced (such as the Enid Blyton book that they are selling for $90.00 which I ended up getting elsewhere for $10.00 - needless to say that they still haven't sold it). While the books were pretty ho hum, the collection of antiques was nothing short of awesome - everything from clothes to household furniture to toys. While there are better second-hand bookshops in Adelaide, this is a place to check out if you like antiques.

Seriously, the place is probably smaller than my living room, but I've spent well over an hour just checking out books and albums and I've barely scratched the surface! If you're looking for a certain book or album, chances are it's here, he just needs to dig through the stock to find it. Come back in a week or so and it'll probably be there waiting for you to pick up. I just can't express how much I love this store. I don't always buy something, but it's a lot of fun wasting an afternoon ploughing through stock just to see what you might find. I always find myself thinking "wow I haven't seen that for years" or "I've never seen that before"

Mirrors and light fittings rule, but there are some amazing old wood objects like gigantic sideboards and tables, from those days when heavy meant good and solid meant heavy. Some of the chandeliers here will blow your mind. I photographed one that is at least three and a half meters long and is made up of cascading crystal with cut glass balls. Really beautiful if you like that sort of thing. Check out the photograph, although it may not look as big as it really is in the picture I took with my camera. There are quite a few pretty amazing things here and the prices are varied, some things seem inexpensive given the detail and style of materials used. I really admire some of the mirrors particularly; very old style. Some of the lighting fixtures are reproductions, just like the garden statues that are all pretty splendid even if they are made of concrete and painted or given a brushed finish, they still look quite impressive. If you have come into some money and want to make your home look really extraordinary this shop is worth a visit. If you live in an old home and want to give it a historic touch, or if you just want to knock someones socks off by presenting them with a totally gorgeous antique may I suggest you come in and discuss your budget with Ron, let him guide you - he's a very fine chap, ad the stock he has collected here is also very fine.

The shop is busting at the seams with all manner and variety of items and all in usable condition. The centre piece I think of this place is the huge chandelier, just think of the musical Phantom of the Opera and if you've seen it, there's a massive chandelier which comes crashing down when everything goes horribly wrong romance wise...well there's one in here - I might be exaggerating a little but it is huge! If someone buys it, I reckon they'll have to cut a hole in the roof to get it out! Besides chandeliers hanging all over the place, there is a load of other lighting available suspended, wall fixed and standing. Plus furniture, garden statues, dainty french style wire furniture, birdcages, gorgeous mirrors huge, large and small, urns, pots, stone benches and more stuff. Oh and there are some really, really impressive pearly gates...I'm definitely in heaven here.
