It is just as beautiful as i remember it. There are many buildings where you will participate or can participate in various things . There are also several hiking trails available to you to use. There are currently a lot of moose in the area so if you go up and are out on the trails be sure to be on the look out. The day retreat started with some art. (this was okay, I went because my friend is into art. if i had been on my own i would have opted to go hiking instead during this time) After this was a break and then yoga class. Then lunch. They have a homemade vegetarian/vegan lunch. You can request gluten free in advance. Their food is seriously amazing! It is worth the price of the day retreat just to come and enjoy the food! It is so so good! After lunch, you can do an hour of volunteer work in the kitchen. It is the kind thing to do especially since the prices of their retreats are actually pretty afforable. give back. After that you have a couple of hours of free time to go do what you please. There is a pond you could kayak/canoe on. Or bring up your paddleboard. go hiking. Sit in the reading room. Sit on one of the hammocks in the trees. go meditate. so many choices! After that you can come back for an afternoon yoga class, and then dinner! Again so yummy! It is rare to find some place that can make such delicious homemade vegan and gluten free food. After that they do some ceremonial stuff, you can choose to participate in that or not. Highly recommend having a retreat here, it was very relaxing.

Listen MEN, it might sound like your worst nightmare to be taken to a yoga retreat for your…read morebirthday, but let me tempt you with this... partner yoga. Yes that's right, hot spandex and sports bra of your favorite lady helping you stretch out muscles you haven't ever stretched. Yes, it is sexy, but amazingly wonderful for the practice of yoga, intimacy and stretching. There are some retreats where you go to get pampered, but this is not one of them. The cabins are run down, the grounds kept very simple, and the food is vegetarian, but pampering is not part of the theme of the retreat, Shoshoni is more focused on the practice of yoga and meditation. Yogis live up at the retreat and are the people who take care of your classes, your meditations, the cooking, and the serving... It almost starts to feel like camp, where you start pinpointing the ones in your head of who you want to hook up with. You have a couple different options for accommodations. I went all out and got the private cabin, which was only $115 person. I say ONLY because this also included three meals, three yoga classes, two meditations, the use of the retreat grounds, and use of the hot tub and sauna. You can pay less and stay in a same sex dorm, an electricity free cabin, or you can camp it somewhere on the Shoshoni property. Obviously, since I singed up the partner yoga class with my boyfriend, I needed the private cabin. It was his birthday, so I had to go all out. The partner yoga class was an extra $70 and lasted about an hour and half. It was the best part of the retreat. I wanted to give this retreat more stars, but I just can't. The retreat is missing that magical something that would make us want to come back. The yoga classes were too short and not advance enough, and the cabin was really outdated and old. The extra step to offer more choices for classes of different levels, and more one-on-one time with the instructors would definitely improve the score. If you go, make sure to sign up for private yoga classes, and/or massages and facials. * Star one for the steamin' partner yoga ** Sweat it up star two is for the.... SAUNA (silly goose you), which was the perfect way to end a long day *** the final star goes to the dessert at lunch on the final day, those peanut butter balls were scrumptious!

I loved the hot springs, but I loved the hotel and breakfast somewhat less. I absolutely recommend the hot springs with no reservations. You can decide on everything else. There are a great variety of pools of varying temperature and mineral composition! We took the time to visit every single one and it was well worth it. Some are definitely prime spots and are harder to get into - I'm thinking specifically of the lowest pool closest to the marshy area by the train tracks - but there are so many options that I think you'll still be happy. My personal favorites were that lowest one I mentioned as it's very peaceful and there's great bird watching, the very top one for the view, and the bigger one in the middle with the waterfall because of the waterfall. A few other notable observations: 1. There's a cooler chlorine pool with a little water slide that is very pleasant and nice to dip into in between hot springs. 2. The restrooms/changing rooms are clearly newly remodeled and are very nice! 3. Everyone working here was wonderful. The hotel is on the older side, but it was clean. It was also wildly hot in our room as the heater had been left on (in the summer!). Thankfully there was a fan in the closet, so we turned that on and aired the place out which helped a bit. However, I still would not describe the resulting temperature as comfortable. Also.... in the kindest possible way, the showers were like upright coffins. We used the showers in the hot spring area as they were quite nice. It was good that was an option. Breakfast was hilarious. It was a pre-filled paper baggie containing: 1 bagged muffin 1 fruit cup 1 Capri Sun This is a snack for a child, not breakfast. I very much understand that Hot Sulphur Springs doesn't have a lot going on in this day and age - aside from the hot springs there appear to be a single restaurant, a single gas station, a museum, and the 2nd hotel - but this shouldn't be advertised as breakfast. If you are visiting and staying here, maybe pack some fruit or something. Overall, I highly recommend the hot springs, but if I come back I intend to make it a day trip, pack some fruit, and drive somewhere else to stay and have an actual meal. Enjoy the pools!
