My original intent was to grab coffee at Bunker, then head to Mrs. Luu's for lunch, but I was a bit crunched for time, so decided on just one place. I was banking on Mrs. Luu's having Vietnamese coffee - the one with the condensed milk - so I just went straight there... It was about noon when I arrived and was greeted by the friendly staff - and I only note this because 20 minutes later the crowds started piling in. The menu is simple, and I chose the Three Little Piggies Banh Mi (7), which has all the veggies with Vietnamese porschetta and ham, along with BBQ pork. The baguette was fresh and crunchy, and probably one of the best breads I've had in terms of a baguette! It wasn't hard to bite into, though it was a bit messy. The meat was pretty good, although my mistake was ordering something with processed meats, which I'm not a big fan of. I think I'll go with the chicken filet next time - and there will definitely be a next time! I also had the Vietnamese coffee (4), which was actually just alright. It wasn't mind-blowingly amazing, but tasted the way it should have. I think the problem was that there wasn't enough ice, which seems to happen in Brisbane a lot, and it just wasn't as refreshing as it could've been! Either way, this is definitely a place I would return to, as it's located just outside of the train station and is a comfortable (air conditioned!) place to enjoy a delicious, casual meal.

Suffice to say, if you've not yet ventured to this cafe on Arthur Street, I'd do so pronto. King Arthur is the new family member from the same folks that brought us Merriweather Cafe. Their ethos and value around high quality seasonal food remains and so do the friendly faces behind the counter. Similarly, just as the creation of the menu might has been considered and carefully constructed, the way in which the meals are crafted from the kitchen are given equal care and attention. I've been both for lunch and breakfast now and each time it has been a calming escape with a side of soul food. The gnocchi with lemon and tarragon in their opening days was, in true Goldilocks style, just enough. The serving size that good amount with gnocchi to savor but not be in a land of regret about the quantity you've devoured. And if you're so inclined, treat yourself to a post-lunch treat from their range of baked goods. I'd recommend the raspberry frangipane tart if it's available. Breakfast of lamb ragu on sourdough was hearty and a great winter alternative to porridge or eggs and bacon. Pro Tip: This isn't a large cafe so there may be a little wait during peak times.

It had been a long while since I visited a cafe myself and had a bit of me time. Reverends Fine Coffee is situated in the Fortitude Valley neighboring a bunch of other cafes and restaurants. I ordered a skinny cap and one lamington. The coffee was amazing and I really appreciated that they used real chocolate on top instead of cocoa powder. The coffee was silky and smooth. It didn't give me that bitter and acidic aftertaste, which was to my appealing. As for the lamington, I liked it too but the cake was a bit dry but the chocolate coating and coconut shreds compensated the fact that the cake wasn't moist enough. But the good thing was the lamington wasn't overly sweet. Another thing I liked about the café was their interior design and layout of the cafe. The café is divided into indoor and outdoor seatings. I chose a table inside as shown in the pic. I loved the industrial vibe the room provided (that brick wall was everything) and the art works on the wall were well appreciated and gave an artistic feel. The music playing in the background was also really soothing and relaxing. The service was alright, but not outstanding. Except for the the brief moments where I placed my order, there was basically no more interaction with the staff. All in all, it was a pleasant experience. Will go back some other time.

I ordered the breakfast croissant that came out looking really cool and big and full, but the croissant was weirdly chewy, and the eggs were super duper chivy, which is good if you love chives but I couldn't eat them on their own. I had meal envy deluxe for my partner's meal, the eggs benny with a side of sausages. It presented really nicely and he absolutely devoured it, all except the entire avocado on his plate Over all it was a mixed experience. I feel inclined to come back and try again on another day with a different meal choice, I just feel the obligation to offer some leeway but then how far can that go?

The white walls create a feeling of openness and space so you're unlikely to feel cramped even if it's busy. The small group of core staff are friendly and welcoming so it only takes a visit or two for one to feel like a regular. And I only needed to eat here the once to figure out their toasted turkish sandwiches are delicious! A recent change in management has seen their menu extended to include savory tarts, a mushroom omelette and several weekend breakfast specials. They're coffees are better than average and reasonably priced at $3.50 for a small and $4.50 for a large. But if it's the middle of a hot summer day you would be better off going with one of their smoothies - They come in a healthy and not so healthy variety. So if you like your beverages so thick with ice cream you can barely get them through the straw go with the latter. If you're planning on giving Cafeine a try it's worth noting that there is a primary school next door so it's probably best to avoid the peak drop off and pick up times.

It's her local and it was the perfect excuse to see why people rave about this suburban wonder. The coffee was strong and easy to drink. I hadn't ordered any food but my friend insisted I try some of her avocado on pumpkin bread toasted. Whatever these guys are doing with their avocado - heck I don't care if they're singing to it before they serve it up - it's working. It was creamy, nutty and and a little garlicky. Just order it. There'll be no regrets. The bread does change daily, however. The staff are more like friends than waiters. My friend and I waxing lyrical with the barista about grammar and such. It helps that she's a regular and gets along with them like a house on fire. But still, that's just the kind of people they are. Friendly, jovial and a real community. If anything a visit here will warm the cockles of your heart as you meet some genuinely nice people.

Lauren does everything in this tiny little cafe in Hendra to improve her quality of life and those around her, including her customers. You have to respect someone that is that conscious in their decision making. Coffee is beautiful and consistent. You simply will not get a bad coffee here. Food is yummy and everything is made from scratch is what is surely the smallest commercial kitchen on the planet. But more importantly, the feeling of belonging is beautiful. How can you possibly beat that?
