His workers speak very highly of him and he shows up in the beginning to make sure the job is started properly. My schedule was tight and he did everything to accommodate me sending his guys on a Saturday and they stayed late too! My issue is 90% of everything ended up needing to be repaired afterwards... things were put on wrong /backwards (shower door), messed up my bathroom door where it wouldn't close anymore, did a job with tiles in bathroom and made a decision without consulting with me and I hated the results and told him so I'm stuck with it unless I pay to have it redone. Getting in touch with him and to return was challenging. I was told they would start on a certain date to fix the mistakes.... This is after months and renegotiating when they could come. The reason my ratings aren't lower is because Paulie did send his men to fix the issues (I sent pictures that were undeniable that the work was not up to standards). I decided to push for a week day (which he told me numerous of times it was easier to schedule). 2 men showed up and did a GREAT JOB in fixing the previous issues. So I say do not get work done on the weekends.... It was stressful, they also turned off my dryer or heater without telling me... of course my not knowing I thought it was broken.... The list goes on.... Luckily Paulie caught it when I complained my dryer suddenly stopped working (not realizing his men caused this!)....

I contracted with Dave Ocejo and his team to fully renovate and redesign my kitchen and half bath…read moreand to build a new backyard deck. The interior renovation was a full-blown "down to the studs" project, that included opening up a load-bearing wall and the structural changes needed to accommodate that change. Also, included was opening up an existing doorway to install sliders to the deck. The new kitchen and half bath included all new plumbing; electrical wiring, fixtures and lighting; HVAC ducts: porcelain tile flooring; granite counter tops and the installation of new kitchen cabinets and appliances and a bathroom vanity. The backyard deck was built with Timbertech decking and Veranda composite railing. I'm very happy with the way the project turned out. Dave and his guys, Javier and Dennis, did an outstanding job. The guys working on the job are skilled, focused and courteous. They are very careful not to disrupt the remainder of the household beyond their work area. They arrive promptly, communicate well throughout the project and clean up everyday. They repect your home as they would their own. Javier is especially attentive to detail, conscientious, and very talented. I love the way the kitchen, bathroom and deck look, but maybe more important are the structural improvements Dave made to my almost 90 year-old house along the way. One of the main reasons I decided to contract with Dave was that during our first walk-through at my home he noticed that my floor was sagging between my kitchen and dining room. He immediately went down to the basement, pointed out a cracked floor joist and said this is where we need to start. None of the other contractors I was interviewing noticed or took the time to point that out. There is a Lally column and a repaired joist in place in the basement now that makes me feel good about my choice. We also encountered a similar problem as we opened the kitchen ceiling and found damaged floor joists on the second floor of my house. Again, Dave knew what had to be done. He added additional cross-hatched framing to the existing floor joists to provide the needed structural integrity. So, yes, my new kitchen, deck and bathroom are beautiful to look at, but behind the walls, my home is better then ever and that's a good feeling.

Hugo from H&F was fantastic. I tried patching a 10" x 10" hole by myself and failed miserably. Hugo…read morewas able to come within 24 hours, removed my bad patch job, and refinished the hole with drywall. The price was very fair and I was really impressed with how it turned out. Once it's painted, you would never know there was a hole there. He is based in NJ and can travel anywhere within NJ or NYC (I'm in Queens).
