Having to switch hair dressers is always hard. Having moved to the area a year ago, I was driving an hour to get to my previous hair dresser, just out of fear someone else wouldn't be able to do my hair the same or cause damage to my fine hair. Then I found Sherry. I was immediately made feel comfortable when I arrived. The receptionist, Jennifer, was so sweet. She offered me some wine (they also have coffee, tea and other beverages..but I'm a busy Mom and I chose the wine!) Sherry looked at my hair and knew exactly how to match my highlights and also had some other fun suggestions. She was friendly and easy to talk to. She was gentle on my long, fine hair. The receptionist refilled my wine and also gave me some snacks. The sinks to wash your hair out are usually so uncomfortable at other places, but this one was amazing. Cherie adjusts it just perfectly while she washes your hair out and gives you a nice head and neck massage along with it. I was very happy with the turn out of my highlights, especially because there was no damage to my hair, which I'm always so worried about. Well. I'm not complaining about their service. I've got a fair service like the other places I would go and get a same result except I paid double the price in this salon. I paid $220 for a hair trim and root touch up which I always usually pay $100-130. I reached out for explanation but didn't get any response! I don't go to this salon anymore and don't recommend it. You can get this same result anywhere you go which much less $$ unless you want to go to Hollywood celebrities personal hair dressers!!! read more

Mostly because the salon is lovely and the owner is really friendly and I fell in love with his dog, lol, but my son just got the worst haircut of his life there. The girl who cut his hair was super nice, but was obviously very young and inexperienced. And if you're gonna charge $30 for a KID'S haircut, you better be a professional at it. Or just say, sorry we don't do kids. I couldn't believe my eyes when she said she was done. His hair was a total mess. Completely uneven. But the whole process took over an hour and 15 minutes and we just had to get out of there, so I had to fix his hair myself at home. Very disappointed at this place. I had high hopes. read more

Hair cuts, Robin, & my experience: I rarely give 5 stars, but this place really deserves it. I used to have long hair down to my waist (about 6 years ago) and Robin always helped me trim up the dead ends and give me nice clean cut. When I finally got the guts to chop off 15 inches to donate and get a bob cut, Robin was the one to make it all worthwhile! We did an asymmetrical A-line bob and my hair was literally the talk of the town. (I swear, it was almost 1 compliment a day!) Then I just got addicted to changing my hairstyle, or more like, I got addicted to going to Robin, closing my eyes and saying, "Do what you think is best." I loved that he spent time analyzing my hair and asking me questions about how it behaves before starting. He gave me a great hair cut that is polished, easy to manage and gives my hair bounce and lift. It's been 5 weeks since the cut and it still looks great. I have been here 3 times and I love it . Initially I went here through formosi promotions . Everyone in the store was amazing . Chico my hairdresser was just fabulous , friendly. Not one did she try to over sell me anything . My second time around I had to experience slightly rude front desk operator on the phone . But that was no one's fault . The operator has since left . The owner was super kind to call me and apologise . When I went there third time , the owner himself was there taking care of basic things - that showed he cared about his customers . A first time haircut at Felix. Saw a few problems needing adjustment after I got home. Robyn was gracious and booked me for an adjustment session soon. Was surprised during the tweaking however. Robyn was waving scissors quickly while chopping quite a bit of my hair off in less than 5 minutes. Maybe that's a cutting edge haircut method as advertised on Felix's website. I don't know. I just felt that I was bothering Robyn for even asking for an adjustment. Robyn did not charge me for the 5 minute express extreme makeover. At the same time, i walked out of the salon with quite a different style than what was discussed and agreed. My hair was a lot closer to what we agreed after the first haircut, with uneven spots, but it was close. After the extreme chopping session? No and quite different. I wish I know where the failure of communication was, particularly with a hair stylist who's been around for a long time. read more

The ambiance is very pretty. The garden wall is gorgeous. The lights are a bit harsh and gave me a head ache. My gripe with this place is the cost v what you get. I find them very overpriced for simple haircuts. My hair is easy and I had a bit of sticker shock when I found out that they charge 3x what my old hairdresser in Beverly Hills Charges!!!! While I was very sad to leave my last salon (had to find a place closer to the babysitter!) I am soooo thrilled to have found Felix Design Studio!! The salon is gorgeous. My stylist, Sherry, is AMAZING. She's great with color, knows how to cut and best of all - she's super fast!! I don't know how she does it but every time I've been to a salon for the last 15 years or so, it has taken stylists at least 2.5 hours to cut and color my long thick hair. Sherry is able to do it in less than 2 hours, and it looks phenomenal. As a working mother, that time savings is everything!! The cherry on the sundae is the sweet little dog who will jump right in your lap while you get shampooed. This little dog is not a yapper, she is gorgeous and there for the admiration and love, and I am here for it! I think she's the owners dog, who is also very friendly. The attention to the client is what I truly appreciate about this Salon. Everyone is so friendly and really cares about giving you the best experience possible. I have had pretty much everything done from highlights to lowlights, allover color, trim, layers etc. Every experience is better than the last. I first found out about this Salon when a good friend of mine who works for Ok Magazine was holding an event at the previous location in Palos Verdes. Since then the Salon has moved inside the Silver Spur Peninsula Mall it's great! You can get a Starbucks right next door and shop afterwards all without moving your car. Katherine Lewis=Hair Whisperer Moving to Denver, one of the hardest things for me was leaving the person I trusted most with my hair. Katherine is so talented. She has taken me from dark brown to blonde, installed extensions on me (she specializes in DreamCatchers Hair Extensions), you name it and my hair still maintains its integrity that it has had since day one, which is unheard of for a blonde with extensions! I highly recommend her to anyone not only for her talent, but her amazing personality. Katherine will not at all make you feel uncomfortable, infact she makes you count down the days to your next service with her (especially the part where she washes/massages) your head. Came to this salon after using sun-in in my hair, which caused my hair to be brittle and I just didn't like the color. I was given an appointment with Nicholas Tomaselli within a week of my call and the entire experience was wonderful! I know very little about dying hair and was timid when he suggested glazing my hair, but his explanation of the process and how it would affect my hair made me feel much better about it. He was constantly asking me how I felt about my hair, what I wanted to change, and putting positive input on his suggestions for me. I'm so glad I listened to his advice because my hair turned out exactly how I wanted it to be and it's now so much easier to manage and looks great! I do think the salon is a bit overpriced, but you get what you pay for. read more

If I could give 10 stars for this place, I totally would! My hairstylist Desi is really awesome. He is so good about styling my hair to my preferences and listens to my likes and dislikes, unlike some of the other people that I've dealt with in the past who like to do what they like to do. Even though getting my hair cut takes a little longer than most (I have a lot of thick hair), Desi never rushes or anything. I actually felt really really bad one time when my appointment went over the hour that I was scheduled for and he made the next person wait. He's a lot of fun to chat with and always remembers me and has an impeccable memory when it comes to what I was up to the last time I saw him. Whenever I walk out of the salon after getting a haircut there, my hair looks wonderful. If I could afford to have Desi do my hair everyday, I would totally do it. I've also had the Japanese Straightening (Yuko System) done in the past by the salon owner Robin and he is totally sweet and did a wonderful job. Kudos of Robin for such a wonderful salon! I'm so glad that this place is so close to my home. The interior of the salon is very nice and everything is always nice and clean, which is really important to me. When you walk into the salon, you can tell that this salon prides itself on its cleanliness and decor. They also carry Kerastase products which they use a lot but they're never pushy about selling you products that they use, which I really appreciate. Parking is on the street, but it's PV...I've never had any problems finding parking in front of the salon. read more

Had my first appt. Saturday with Sherry here. She called a few days before appt. to go over what we were going to do (have never had a stylist do that). This place is beautiful, VERY clean and modern. Had roots done with gloss. Normally color only lasts 3 weeks but can tell this time will hold longer. She used Phyto Huile D'Ales in my color and that gave it an extra boost of healthiness. They specialize in Phyto haircare (had been using already) but Sherry recommended a product I had been missing out on. Phyto products have made my hair so much softer and I swear its been growing like crazy since I've switched over. Tomarro at the front desk is kind and had great service also.
