The Chinese food at "Feng Shui" is pretty much as bad as they get! The only reason why this place stays in business is because it's located inside a historic tourist attraction with thousands of busy daily commuters. When you're walking around the food court at the Grand Station Terminal in New York, you have tons of options to choose from. You have a variety of ethnic options and your head goes crazy on what you're in the mood for. I came to the Grand Station Terminal with 3 other friends and we decided to go our separate ways for lunch. I was kind of skeptical on the other options, so I decided to play it safe with Chinese food. Since all the prices at the Grand Station Terminal is jacked up, I paid a premium price for a below average portion lunch. As for the flavor of the food; it was bland, salty and soggy. How can you cook broccoli beef, sweet & sour chicken & noodles incorrectly? This place can! If I had to defend "Feng Shui" in anyway, I have to point out that practically all the food courts at the Grand Station Terminal was lousy. As I've mentioned, my other three friends ordered something different from three other food courts and they were ALL dissatisfied with their meal. I would recommend visiting the Grand Station Terminal; but if you're hungry, I suggest getting a meal before or after you visit this historic New York landmark. read more

It's a similar concept to the Panda Express but with a different name and a few different choices. The food is greasy and not particularly flavorful, and for $12, you get a noodle/rice + 2 side combo meal. I tried the veggie lo mein (bland but filling by volume), the tofu (fried well but the sauce could've used some garlic and salt, and the sesame chicken (not bad). Overall, I can make better at home, so I'm leaving this with just two stars... it left me full, a little poorer than average, and unsatisfied. read more

We ordered Chinese food here because we were craving it and starving. My boyfriend devoured his and it was no problem for him (maybe because he was starving and would honestly eat anything). I ate from his but we still had another container of food left that was mainly untouched. I was honestly not hungry and we decided to give the food along with chopsticks, napkins and utensils to the homeless person that was seated close to us. I usually bring the leftovers home but we were going to a museum right after that did not allow food. Instead of throwing out the food and being wasteful, we wanted to instead perform a kind gesture. --- A random occurrence happened by the cash register where we ordered the food... Out of nowhere I had a sharp cut on my hand... I kept wondering what it was or where it came from and perhaps they did not clean their register table area well. After close examination, I saw there was a tiny sliver of glass that was stuck to my hand, causing it pain throughout the day (even under a band aide). At first, I thought it was just a tiny sliver of my skin that was crystallized, but the next day, when I tried to rip/pull it off, I found out that it was actually a tiny glass sliver... It's pretty much exactly what you would expect from a small, run-of-the-mill Chinese food stop. So in that sense, it doesn't disappoint. The food isn't awful but I've sure had better Chinese in a lot of other places. Their General Tso's Chicken is probably the best thing they have on their menu. The rice and noodles are bland. Prices are kinda high for Chinese food, but I'm assuming it's due to the location. Would recommend if you're hankering for some Chinese and have no other options in the area. read more

I know I'm old, because the first thing I thought of while eating my lunch from here was that old SNL sketch Coffee Talk with Linda Richman, which featured Mike Meyers in drag. Food is always flavorful, well prepared and fresh. (It is in grand central station after all!) I love their soups and the pork dishes.

I am not going to lie. There are times when all I crave is cheap Americanized Chinese food. Even Panda Express will do, and I do sometimes wish I had one closer. And being Chinese myself (no shame!) a good fried rice with some sesame chicken is what I want. But this place...OH HELL NO! Case in point. I went there to order a meal (which cost me $9, so there goes the cheap factor) that included: 1. Fried Rice - which was completely tasteless. 2. Sesame Chicken - which was not only overly saucy, but the chicken was sooo mushy and gross that it turned me completely off. And sad thing is? They gave me more sauce than they did chicken, and it was all over the rice and veggies. UGH. 3. Veggies - which have been obviously sitting on their steam table for quite some time. We visited this fast food pit stop at GCT after we finished a two hour walking tour of the terminal on 6/16/13 around 3:30 p.m. and we were tired and famished. The prices looked reasonable compared to other offerings within the terminal. Two male clerks were behind the counter, one was taller than the other one. The shorter one who had some sort of shiny thingy below his lip and who could be either oriental or Mexican was an obnoxious, cynical, disdainful SOB. I'll refer to him as "the insect." The look in the insect's eyes when I asked a couple of questions was despicable. I asked for an explanation of the items on the board since they are confusing. He referred to all the meat dishes as "sides", I've never heard meat dishes referred to as "sides". "Sides" are usually rice, noodles and vegetables. I again asked him, he came back with the same stupid answer which could also barely be heard where I stood. My husband asked the cashier for two cups with ice for our sodas, she told him to ask the insect for the cups. When my husband asked the insect for the cups, he said the cashier was supposed to give them to us. When my husband balked at this, the insect produced two containers which could pass for cups but are probably for serving take-out food. We both told the young cashier of our displeasure with the insect; however, we're sure nothing will come of it because she has no authority over other employees and she could barely speak English. Stay away from this place unless you appreciate being treated like a non-person by an uneducated, stupid clerk who serves food from behind a counter because he probably doesn't have the intelligence to do any other type of work. read more

Even for cafeteria food, the food is bland and greasy. The food often looks like it has been sitting out for too long in way too much sauce and they mix "fresh" food into the dry and soggy food (I seriously question their sanitary practices). The servers are bored at best. You are clearly getting what you pay for. I've eaten at Feng Shui on a couple of occasions because it is a quick and convenient lunch option aka shortest line when it is raining or cold for those who work near Grand Central Terminal. This is by far one of the nastiest things that could be mixed into anyone's food. What makes it worse is that I literally finished this whole meat portion to find this at the bottom of the container. I regularly passed this place over for my biweekly grand central meal, really for no good reason. Decided to give it a shot one night, now I have a reason to not go. The lo mein was mushy. I've eaten from here maybe a dozen times over the years. If you are going to eat here, I'd recommend avoiding the dishes soaking in tepid sauce and get something like the sweet and spicy fish (which I've never had a problem with). But I will never eat here again. I don't know whether the pork was under cooked or just badly cooked, but two bites and I had to throw the whole dish away. Disgusting. I 'm new to working in the area. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I ever had at any fast food restaurant and I'll be recommending to everyone not to eat here. However, it appears the restaurant doesn't care. In an exchange with a server who said he is also the manager, that it doesn't matter if I come back because lots of other people will. What happened. Ordered the 'one entree' with brown rice. Server asked if there was anything else. Confused, I said the one entree. He again asked if there was anything else. I said no. Then he switched containers, filled it with brown rice and gave it to me. I looked at him and said, where does the entree go. He said, you said you didn't want anything else. Confused again, I said I thought he meant other than the one entree. He smiled and said no, that I was supposed to tell him what entree. So then I said that that was confusing. I expected him to ask something like, which entree. He said, well this isn't Burger King. I asked, what about the customer being right. He said something like, not here. Horrible! Stay away! Heartburn blast! This is a typical Chinese duping fast-food operation, only much worse than average. It is designed to rip off Americans (they charge a lot), and, at the same time, to erode the nation from the inside by sickening the people who eat this toxic stuff.
