I had a great experience getting brunch here this morning. I got the Fenton Brunch Special and it was delicious. My friend and I also shared a nutella banana crepe and that was just as great. I think what really topped it off for me was how wonderful the service was. The ladies who served us were quite nice and thoughtful. We had received our savory crepes first and thought that maybe our nutella banana one was forgotten about. But as we finished our savory crepes, our server came by to clear our plates and gave us our nutella banana crepe. My friend and I definitely appreciated that. We had came around noon and waited about 10 minutes until we received our first crepes. The place is small, but cozy and we could watch our crepes being made. I love crepes, so when I bought a Groupon for the Fenton Cafe I was pretty psyched about trying them out. My experience was good but not great. The place is tiny. It wasn't as clean as I would've liked, including the bathroom. There's an enormous menu board on the wall, and I'd arrived before my friend, so I got to spend a while perusing my options. Imagine my disappointment when I realized that the Fenton Cafe offers only four types of cheese and none of them are either cheddar or Monterey Jack! Really, who wants ricotta or feta in their crepe? Okay, some people might, but not me. Being a vegetarian, there were limited options available to me, but I'm used to that so it isn't a slam against these folks. Once my friend arrived we ordered: I got the eggplant/zucchini/peppers, etc crepe. I honestly can't remember what my friend ordered...sorry! Here's where things got a little interesting. I had pulled my Groupon up on my phone and when the woman at the register scanned it she also took my phone and pressed "Redeem". Interesting, right? Well, there was a computer glitch and the system wouldn't take her entry. She wouldn't process our order. I took my phone back and tried a few times to redeem the Groupon. The system was still not processing and neither was our order. Did she think we wouldn't pay?? Eventually it came up as "redeemed" and she went ahead and placed our order. I think I've been insulted... The service was fast...actually too fast. The crepes were cooked nicely but the stuffing - particularly my friend's stuffing - wasn't hot all the way through. The flavor was good, but she said hers was overstuffed and underdone. We topped things off with a shared nutella and banana sweet crepe. It was pure heaven. Go to Fenton Cafe for the sweet crepes! The lightly crisped outer crepe with the warm and creamy Nutella along with the Strawberries and Banana are like the perfect combination to a comforting breakfast Cooked to perfection and makes my tummy happy! Found on yelp and went specifically for the gluten free crepe options for my wife. They can do any savory or sweet crepe gluten free for a flat price,so the up charge varies depending on your choice of fillings, which is odd. I got Fenton savory variety, which was ok but pretty bland. She enjoyed hers. I'd probably give 3 stars based on food but the service and cleanliness were to be desired. There were 4 of us and ordered 2 waters and 2 coffees. She repeated that back to us but only made one coffee. We ordered 4 crepes, which came out one at a time. No problem but 3 of us were almost done eating and still waiting for #4. When we went up to ask she realized she'd missed it on the order completely. We'd paid but she missed it. The place needs a little cleaning for sure. Overall not a terrible experience, but there are so many nicer places just a short walk away. read more

Amazingly the best crepes I've ever had. I've had crepes from all over the world! Go figure. Me and a lady friend ordered two savory crepes (1-ham, egg, cheese, 2-avacado, tomatoes, cheese) and a sweet one (strawberry jam & ricotta cheese). We ordered three bc I naively thought they'd be small and I could crush'em! Pros: Soft, slightly chewy, no burns, light. Cons: the two Ethiopian women working couldn't speak English well so it was hard communicating that I wanted some syrup. Turned out the sweet crepe I ordered didn't need it! Purchased $15 Groupon for Fenton Cafe. Good reviews, location seemed promising. My wife and I took our two small kids and headed out for a morning of crepes and coffee. Arrived right at 8am (posted opening time). Opening staff arrived to unlock door a few minutes past 8am. Upon presenting Groupon (purchased just six days before visit), was flatly told "the owner doesn't accept those anymore." I pointed out that it did not expire until December and was still posted for sale on Groupon (and was still a week later). Staff member simply glowered, shook her head, "no." Ridiculous. read more

Very hit or miss. I tried this place 2 years ago when I first moved to the area and was so disappointed I didn't go back again until recently. About 2 weeks ago I stopped in around 3pm and it was basically empty. I ordered a savory spinach and feta crepe with caramelized onions for dine-in and a mocha. It took quite a while for the crepe to be brought over to me but it was quite delicious. The spinach was sautéed and it was thick and just the right amount of chewy. Most importantly it was warm and freshly made. The mocha was very sweet, but good. Stopped in again today and ordered one savory and one sweet to go. Savory was spinach feta with olive tomatoes and artichokes. Sweet was Nutella with raspberries and strawberries. Also got a hot chocolate. The order was up really fast. To my sad disappointment when I got home (5 min walk) and dug in, the savory crepe was raw everything inside, not even warm. Basically a salad with a crepe tossed on it. The crepe was slightly sweet and didn't blend well with the stuffing at all. Insides were cold, crepe was barely warm. The savory crepe was good but seemed like it was old. It was hard to chew and cold, and I did not see any raspberries (paid extra for them). The hot chocolate was gross, like watered down chocolate milk that was scalded. I didn't even drink it. Unfortunately as well, the service is not the friendliest. A younger woman who actually makes the crepes is always friendly but the older woman that seems to oversee things is not. I wonder if I will ever go in there again because it's like she really doesn't want me there. They also are rather perplexed when you ask which crepes are gluten free. I'm going to go ahead and assume all of them, but who knows because even after asking on 2 different occasions I still didn't get clear answer. It doesn't look like much when you are passing from the area, but it is a hidden spot where you can find affordable and very delicious breakfast/brunch. Don't expect too much though, just remember that the staff is sort of amateur in customer service, but that kinda makes this place unique. I think they are good people in the heart. We came with some friends on a rainy Sunday afternoon for crepes and coffee. We ordered two sweet crepes, hot chocolate, and macchiatos. The macchiatos were strong which was much appreciated! Hot chocolate was fine, nothing extra special. The raspberry and Nutella crepe was amazing!! Just the right amount of fruit and Nutella and the crepe's texture was perfect! It was one of those cold Sunday mornings and we didn't want to go anywhere where there would be a lot of wait but still wanted to try out a new place. After reading some recent yelp reviews about this place I was a little apprehensive but decided to give it a shot. We parked at the Wayne street garage(free on weekends) which is a block away. It was pretty busy but we found a little spot right away. We ordered strawberry Nutella crepe and tomato cheese avacado crepe along with a mocha. Our order was ready within 10 minutes and on our table and it was delicious. Mocha was good too. The only issue I saw was they made our order twice, I don't think if there is a language barrier or their system has some faults. This place has really good crepes, and it pains me to give them such a low rating, but their pricing is completely absurd. I'm Celiac, so when I saw their sign touting gluten free crepes I had to give them a try. Normally, places that offer gluten free alternatives have a small upcharge when you order gluten free, say, 2$ extra for a gluten free crepe. Expecting this, I ordered one of the does l crepes off their menu, and asked for it gluten free. When I saw the 18$ charge for the 11$ item I ordered, my eyes bulged. I asked the woman if there was a mistake, and she said there wasn't. She told me that if you order gluten free, instead of the prices on the menu, you get a flat 10$ for the crepe, and an additional 1$ charge per topping. For some absurd reason, when you order gluten free here, instead of an upcharge on the item, you get robbed on the you're l toppings. I paid anyways, wanting to at least try the place. For what it's worth, the crepe itself was delicious. But paying 18$ for a crepe that's 11$ on the menu is a disgusting practice and unless this restaurant changes it's horrible pricing scheme I'll be warning my gluten free friends to stay away. read more

I was running errands, and just had a really strong craving for crepes. Found this local restaurant courtesy of Yelp and was not disappointed. I always get a sweet nutella + banana crepe no matter where I go, and did not stray from this order at Fenton Cafe either. My order cooked quickly, and the portions were larger. The only thing preventing me from giving a 5 star rating is that I felt the nutella portion was a bit lacking - I'll probably ask for an extra helping next time I go. We headed to Silver Spring for Crepes from Howard County in Saturday and let me just say that Fenton has quickly become a favorite. Amazing Coffee and Excellent Crepes. I would give 5 stars but the service was lacking a little, but everyone has an off day. I'll return and hopefully it'll be better, enough for me to give the full 5 stars. My daughter had the Sugar and Butter Sweet Crepe stuffed with bananas and topped with powdered sugar, chocolate drizzle and whipped cream. I'm not big fan of crepes but wanted explore a bit. The crepes were tasty. I ordered an egg sandwich to get a fill. Crepes usually leave me hungry. Customer service was really bad. I miss understood the cost with the cashier and this was a downward spiral. I was never served my coffee had to go back to the register to ask for it. Cleanliness was poor we had to clean our own table. They weren't that busy when we got there. If you must have a crepe be prepared for bad attitude cashier and you'll be fine. read more

I discovered this place thanks to Groupon, and until this morning, I'd continued to return because I like to support local business and also because the crepes are pretty good. I honestly didn't mind the 15-20 minute wait for crepes and the fact that, without fail, if my order's not messed up- my dining companion's will be. My most recent visit however, crossed my threshold of things I'll put up with to eat a crepe. So I ordered coffee to enjoy with my crepe. The coffee in the carafe must have been cold, because after pouring it the girl steamed it with the espresso machine to warm it up. I saw this happen and politely asked if I could get a fresh cup the next time she brewed one, since the coffee was burnt and bitter. She then copped a serious attitude with me, as if I had personally insulted her! Any establishment worth their salt would have just given me a fresh cup of coffee. Not here. At Fenton Cafe they'll get defensive and argumentative, instead of just fixing the problem. To make matters worse, every time I asked the girl for anything else, e.g., a glass of water since I had to toss the coffee, she would give me the nastiest looks. This time I asked for them to add scrambled egg to my crepe and they said they only had fried egg...... not sure about that response. I can just chop an egg myself... i ordered to go. This small cafe just opened in Silver Spring a few blocks from the edge of downtown. You can't tell from the name, but they serve crepes. They have a pretty long list of both savory and sweet. I had the Savory #12...sauteed spinach (carmelized onion, sundried tomato & herbal feta cheese). I asked them to swap the feta for swiss, which they gladly did. Savory crepes are served on a plate on top of a small salad (mixed greens, real olives, a little dressing). It was delicious! I haven't been to Paris in a long time, but it compares in my memory. I definitely liked it better than what I had at Point Chaud in D.C. The employees (owners?) were super friendly. They comped us bottled water and a cappuccino and then brought a dessert crepe (nutella and raspberry) for our table to share. It was excellent! This is also a good place to bring kids. I discovered this gem when I lived in Silver Spring and now that I live in DC, often crave it. I have a feeling that soon I will be trekking back out there for a visit to Fenton Cafe. I would always bring guests visiting from out of town here. Its a little bit off of the main Silver Spring business drag, which is part of the reason I like it. There are TONS of choices for savory and sweet crepes. I love the feta, spinach, and caramelized onion one. Also try the egg, tomato, and avocado. I could never leave without splitting a sweet crepe with my companion. Those are seriously all good. I've heard the coffee is good on some days and just okay on others. As more of a tea person, I've always appreciated that they carry a variety. So you walk in the door to this place and Farid (the owner) is putting on a show making crepes right as you come in the door. He expertly prepares them and its clear that he has it down to a science, not to say he doesn't have a certain artful flare to his preparations. I recently worked on a project and I brought crepes for my entire crew from Fenton Cafe. Needless to say everyone was thrilled, and I spent the next few hours giving almost everyone who had one directions to find the place later on their own. We had a number of different kinds of the sweet crepes and they were all fantastic. The owner is very professional and does everything he can to make sure that you have a pleasant visit. He clearly cares not just about cutting a profit but establishing a loyal clientele and he is putting in the work and effort needed to do that. Nearly every person who had a crepe while they were there stopped to personally thank him before they left. Head over there now to have some crepes before the place becomes too crowded. Its a small room, just right for a half dozen people. But I don't think that his crowd is going to stay that small for long. This place just opened up and already has a lot of buzz going for it. I can't wait to take some friends here and play the part of the guy who knows all the best little spots in town. A sweet batter was used in my savory crepe (Fenton brunch special) and the whole thing just tasted off. Cheap ingredients were used inside the crepe--undercooked mushrooms, unripe/cardboard like tomatoes, barely any avocado, processed deli turkey...why do other Yelpers like this place so much???? It surely can't be for the savory crepes. I also ordered a green tea and the lady tried to give me Lipton, even though there was a box of higher quality Stash tea right below it. If you charge $2 for tea, don't hand over the cheapest, crappiest tea around. This crepe joint really made me homesick for San Francisco, CA and it's really good creperies like Crepevine and Squat & Gobble. Pretty good! I honestly haven't eaten enough crepes in my life to know what constitutes a "great" crepe (don't worry, this is now my life's mission). I don't know if these are "amazing", but they're pretty darn good. Got a savory (avocado with tomato & cheese) and a sweet (Nutella with banana and strawberry). Came to around $16.
