The owners/hosts are very friendly. There is a nice dock to sit on or fish off of down by the boat ramp. There is also a basketball goal and playset that the kids in the campground enjoyed. We happened to be there on there Halloween celebration weekend. They had trick or treating and a chili cookoff as well as a site decorating contest. They also had some very nice prizes for the winners! They also had live music. There is no wifi or antenna signal. If you have good wifi on your phone, you may be able to get a low signal depending on your carrier. The town is very small and we did eat at the Overlook restaurant, which was very good but a little on the pricey side. Overall a very pleasant weekend!

It is directly on the banks of the Ohio River and the view is breathtaking. We were in a 30 foot RV and used a back-in site. The sites are huge and easy to back into. There is a full hookup at each site which included water, electric and sewer hookup. Our fellow campers were friendly and at 10pm the campground is very quiet. There are barges that travel the river all night. Again, the view is spectacular. Once we made our reservation by phone they texted us directions on how to get from the highway to their location. They are about 4 miles off I64. Their directions make it very easy to find the campground. There is also a gas station at their exit which made it easy to top off before pulling in for the night. One of us had AT&T and had perfect cell phone reception. I had Verizon and could not get a signal. The campground is managed by Penny and her husband and they could not have been nicer. They are wonderful hosts and run an excellent operation. Penny warned us not to count on cell phone coverage so we made our calls when we pulled off I64. This was our first RV trip. We enjoyed staying here and will be back.

It's just about a 3 hour drive south in none other than Santa Claus, Indiana! Did you even know there was such a place? Don't blink or you may miss it! You must visit the post office which is directly across the street from the campground. They have the biggest ornament shop that ever existed and info on how to write a letter to Santa! So cute. Oh...is that a squirrel? I love to digress... We've gone to Lake Rudolph for the Halloween weekends and they are truly magical! The campground goes allllll out! Cabin, RV, and tent sites decorate and people get SUPER into it their set ups. There is a golf cart parade, a whole carnival of games, a dance party, evening hay rides, and even trick or treating throughout the campground! Add in a visit to Holiday World and you have a trip you want to come back to. We didn't have one the first year but quickly learned golf carts are a must because the campground is big! Those 4 wheels mean more time to explore and candy collect! We felt proud of our carts this year! They definitely made updates between 2022 and 2023. We noticed! The cabins have nicer couches, sheets are nice and clean, everything is well stocked and feels a bit more modern than a simple cabin. I'm already counting down to 2024!

Pool was perfect. $10 water slide passes were fun for the kids. Lots of pavement for the kids to ride their bikes. Bring your e-bikes and scootersif you have them cause there's a lot of hills. I absolutely fell in love with this campground. The minute that we pulled up to the checkin…read morebooth/building, we met Darlene and Rick, the super nice camp hosts. Somehow we were missing our water hose and Rick offered to loan us his to fill up our tank AND he offered to pick one up at WalMart that night (we gave him money, of course). If you follow my camping adventures, you know that I'm not usually fond of camp hosts. Seriously, I've run into a few doozies in my days. We arrived on a Saturday in May and the RV sites with hookups were full, but we scored a spacious primitive site big enough for our RV AND truck. The primitive sites are was somewhat wooded and private, but the spots on both sides of us were empty, which gave an illusion that it was somewhat private. We loved this campground and the lake so much, we stayed an extra night and all day the next day, Monday. Our neighbor said that the hosts are lenient on weekdays unless someone has the site booked, they don't mind if we check out later. This time, on Sunday, people were checking out and there were plenty of sites available with water and electric hookups. We had a phenomenal site this time, #51 but #52 was better. Also, the campground favorite is apparently #60, but I wouldn't recommend it due to the location being in the path of the boats and trucks using the ramp. Both 51 and 52 were paved black top, which made the rain aftermath not that bad either. THE LAKE!!! I fell in love with Rough River Lake. That's right, move over Nolin River Lake, this holds my title this year. I did hate that you can't swim near the dock... or anywhere around the campground. There's plenty of spots that would be accessible, but there are signs specifically posted 'NO SWIMMING'. The state park is pretty close by though and there is a beach there, if you must get your swim on. Otherwise, fishing is the water activity going on at this campground. There isn't hardly anything close, so come stocked up. The state park lodge has a restaurant and there is a restaurant called 'The Dam', but I wouldn't recommend either one. Robby's Quick Stop about five miles away with basic items in addition to fishing bait. It's about a two hour drive from Lexington, well worth every minutes worth of commute.

One of the first things that caught my eye was the 1pm Checkout time. Most campgrounds are noon o'clock or even the much stingier 11am. 1pm checkout is AWESOME. The campground is more-or-less divided between tent camping and RV camping, with RVs on the left as you enter the park, tents to the right. My understand is that the tent camping area used to be the entirety of the campground, and RV part was a later add-on. The tent sites are very open and spacious, and you don't feel like you're stacked on top of each other. The campground is currently utilizing a contact-free check-in system. Once you arrive at your site you send a text to let them know you've arrived and someone will be right there to help get you situated. In our case Chad was there within five minutes to greet us and give us some information and said he'd be back to deliver our firewood in a little while. About 45 minutes later not only had he delivered the firewood, but he had stacked for us, also. We pre-ordered 6 bundles of firewood. These aren't your typical stingy-ass bundles of firewood, either. They're easily twice the size of the bundles you get at most campgrounds or convenience stores. The wood is also excellent quality. It catches fire easily and burns cleanly. Since we're tent campers we have to rely on the campground restroom and shower facilities (which we were very close to). The bathrooms and showers are in the same building. These are some of the cleanest and most well-maintained shower facilities we've ever seen, and we've camped in a lot of places. The campground has a few tent sites with electricity, but for the most part it's primitive camping. The entire tent camping section is very well-shaded and quiet. We took a drive through the RV section of the campground and it's pretty extensive and contours the water probably about a half mile. The RV sites, like the tent sites, are pretty spacious. This campground isn't all hype and activities like some campgrounds. There's not even a camp store. There are campsites and a shower house. That's it, and that is OK with us. We tend to enjoy the relaxation of camping, the feeling of getting away from things, and being outdoors. And that's exactly what Miles Landing is all about. We liked it so much that we already have our reservations for July 4 weekend. I have a feeling we'll be coming back here a lot.
