The personell was very friendly and welcoming and the rooms are very cosy. The only thing that didnt work was the navigation system to navigate me to arrive from the other side of the house to be able to park my car, I had to drive around a few blocks to find the right access. The parking spaces were limited in front of the house. Some soap was missing in the bathroom, too. There were only 2 tiny 'trial' packs of shampoo. Else its a very nice, tidy place and the breakfast was also tasty and especially the coffee was very good. The price for 1 night was with 100 Euros was a bit hight though I found, but I guess thats the area itself.

I found the Hotel Constantia via Booking.com. We were attending a concert in the area and I didn't…read morewant to think about driving back home late at night, post concert. On Booking.com, the hotel looked good in the photos and description and the location was about a 15 min. walk from the concert venue. We arrived and were kindly greeted at the front desk. Parking is kind of curious as the hotel lot is a few spots around the back side of the hotel. Some inside, some outside. All cost an extra 15 Euros. We ended up in a really tiny garage space... luckily, my wifes car is a Mini. So, no problem. These days, WiFi is many peoples first priority. Luckily, for those people, Constantia has good WiFi. Each device that attaches to same needs it's own code which was given to us at checkin. Our room was small-ish be really quite nice. We were on the 2nd floor which was, at one point in time, the attic. It's since been tastefully remodeled. Our room had the bathroom in kind of an angled corner arrangement with a nice sized shower and plenty of space to move around. It also had a frosted glass wall, just in case anyone is still modest in the modern age we live in. After the concert we happened to show up just as they were closing up for the night. It was really warm in our room which I didn't understand till I grabbed a town and realized that they had the heat on to keep our towels warm. Nice touch. We opened the window and turned off the heat, which helped a lot. My wife, instantly crashed but I kept being jarred awake but odd things. At one point it honestly sounded like a gun battle going on in the street outside the hotel. I still have no idea what that was all about. Beyond that, people talking, etc. Also, the bed, to me, was quite uncomfortable. It seemed to be lower in the middle and I kind of kept fighting gravity and not rolling toward the middle. Breakfast was had a pretty large selection. A very typical Germany buffet with all the usually suspects. Sadly, it had little taste with the exception of the coffee, which rocked! Hurray!

We wanted to spend the night in Lindau or Konstanz, but our budget wouldn't allow us to do so…read more Luckily I found the this hotel that just barely squeaked by for our budget (being anywhere close to the Bodensee is expensive, I found). We paid 78 euros for a double room with in-room shower. We arrived around 7 pm. There were many folks checking in, and I remembered very quickly from high school German classes that Austrian German is a wee bit different than what I learned in school! Luckily I was able to observed a few interactions while waiting to boost my confidence. At the desk, we were able to quickly sign in and gain our room key. We found that our room was not in the hotel itself, but in their guesthouse a few blocks down. I wasn't sure that I fully understood the directions, so I asked for the desk person to draw it out on a map (which he very kindly did). Instead of going straight to the room, we decided to stop and have dinner at the restaurant at the hotel. Surprisingly, it turned out to be one of our better meals from our trip! After spending about 10 minutes figuring out the menu. our waiter informed us that they were out of almost everything due to a large tour bus group (or at least that's what I think he said). No worries...we ended up with some of the most delicious schnitzel I've ever had! With two cokes, our bill was around 25 euros. I felt a bit sorry for our waiter because I believe he thought we were a little slow mentally, when in reality, I was just struggling to keep up with soupy Austrian German. By the time we were done, it had gotten dark. The area near the guesthouse is not very well lit, but luckily, we were able to find it on the second loop. We had room 11 on the top floor (2 flights of stairs). It was very clean and the wood furniture seemed very new. The bathroom was a bit old and needed a good scrubbing, but it was fine for a night. There was a very old TV, but it worked. The room was quiet and we slept well. Breakfast the next morning was just okay. The orange juice was the worst we had this trip, but the selection of breakfast items was good (many breads, cheeses, meats)...coffee had milk and cream. We checked out very quickly and were on our way. In hopes of not getting linguistically confused, we just paid with cash (though they do accept credit cards, unlike some other budget properties we visited). The only real downside is that you can't really see the Bodensee from the hotel (or, at the minimum, the cloudy weather meant that we couldn't) and the hotel is off the beaten path a bit. You have to drive through almost all of Bregenz to what appears to be a very residential neighborhood, about a mile from the casino. It is only about 5-10 minutes from the interstate, though.

Again pretty normal. But it makes for a very oppressive stay when the weather is hot. Which it was in the beginning of July. Also, on one of the nights of my stay there was a wedding and things got pretty loud with the music and partying. A group were staying on the next floor and they pretty much spent the entire night celebrating. Don't get me wrong I am all for that but they should put the party on the lower floor and not directly over someone. The management was nice enough to comp one night of my stay but it doesn't makeup for a very hot sleepless night. Other than that the property is very well situated with commanding views of Lake Constance.

For dinner we were eating at "Wave Emily". Eventhough it has "only" 13 Gault Millau Points it was outstanding! In my opinion totally more than 13 Gault Millau deserved. All the courses i had were excellent and very special. Really recommandable! 5/5 Service: Very attentive, friendly and informative. The timing was as you expect at such a price-class and very well educated. 5/5 Spa: They have a good variety to go for a wellness. Incl. an outdoor whirlpool and fireplaces in the inside which look very cool! 5/5 Bar: The bar has a very good atmosphere (with fireplaces and beautiful views) and good stuff.
