The menu was both in English and French, and our waitress spoke a little bit of English as well. The meal I ordered was an appetizer of lobster raviolis in a shellfish sauce, and my entree was a steak and onion kabob with a 3-cheese sauce. I enjoyed it a lot. My one problem with this place was how wildly overpriced the food was. For my appetizer, I received 3 lobster raviolis and it cost 16 Euros. The steak and onion kabob, while delicious, was almost 30 Euros. Including my meal and my girlfriend's, plus we both had a glass of wine, it came out to 98 Euros for lunch. That is the only bad part about it. If you don't mind forking over some money, this is a very nice place to eat.

This restaurant, which is also attached to the very small hotel known as Le Monte Cristo, has a set menu and they also do daily specials. The 3 of us decided on the menu, which was 29 Euros, a not-too-bad price for three courses. We all started off with some prawns. There were 4-5 in the bowl/plate (looked like a bowl!) with a delicious sauce. The prawns were nothing special but OK. The main course was a steak, actually the menu said it was an Irish steak, and it was a nice big chunk of meat. I enjoyed mine with pepper sauce but my wife felt that hers was too "chewy". At least here, when you ask for medium or rare, it is cooked that way, which is not the norm around the country. They don't seem to have the same ideas of rare, medium and well-done as an American restaurant would. For dessert, she had chocolate mousse and this lady is a lover of mousse. To her, this one was so-so, nothing special and perhaps a bit heavier than a mousse should be. I had the poire William, a whole pear baked or something, with some chocolate around it and also, I'm guessing some alcohol. There was also a side of ice cream on the plate. I enjoyed this but it was so filling. Overall, a nice experience. If you don't want to spend a fortune too, go for the set menu.

One of the Best dining experiences we have had to date in Mons. Located a short walk down from the…read moreGrand Place almost kitty corner to the Parking Grand-Place. We were their first customers for the dinner meal. My wife's french is decent, although she has to ask people to slow down for her. Our waiter was superb, he didn't mind that we had language difficulties, and he even apologized for his poor English skills. He really made our experience world class. We decided we wanted wine tonight, but have little experience with European wines, so we definitely needed help, and asked for a white wine that was slightly sweet. He brought us out two different 30ml samples, one dryer and more grapefruitier than the other, which I liked, and Sheri enjoyed the sweeter wine, can't remember what they were though. We noticed that they had charcuterie on the Menu, but were worried that it was the cheap cheese and salami cubes we have snacked on at other restaurants here in Belgium. When asked our waiter named all 6 cheeses on the board and we recognized several of them, so we were really excited and ordered the mixed plate of meat and cheese. When our waiter brought out the charcuterie board along with a basket of fresh homemade brown bread we thought we died and went to heaven. Every delightful bite was perfection. We then ordered our dinner for the night, Sheri ordered the Orange Duck, and I ordered The Herve Burger (cheeseburger), both medium rare. At the same time, I decided that I wanted a red wine with my burger and asked what he would recommend. They have this Red Blend called "Suivi des Fees" from Brulhois France; it was superb and perfect with my burger. The Herve cheese on this burger was a Belgium earthy creamy ripe cheese that was awesome and made this a delicious unique burger. My wife loved her Orange Duck, and we traded bites of food so both could sample each other's main dish and we both really enjoyed our food. The best was that we considered our food and service to be 5-Star level fine dining; we were very pleasantly surprised that with 4 glasses of wine, charcuterie, and two main courses that our bill was only €64, in the states this meal would have cost greater than $100 U.S. We love Mons, so we definitely will be back for another scrumptious culinary experience.
