The dress and alterations cost me about $1500 total (dress itself was on sale), which I thought was a great deal. Ana was helpful and supportive throughout the whole process. I chose Ferndales for my wedding dress because they appeared to be a long-standing, family-owned business. At first, they seemed knowledgeable and helpful, which made me feel confident in my decision. Unfortunately, my experience took a turn when the dress arrived. The initial sizing was significantly off, and while I expected to need some alterations, the extent of the changes required was surprising. Even more disappointing was the quality of the alteration work itself. The dress was first let out and then taken back in, but when it was altered again, noticeable wrinkles appeared due to the underlying lining not being properly adjusted. This created an unflattering look that clearly could have been avoided with more careful work. When I raised concerns, I was told the issue was due to my body, which I found both dismissive and completeluntrue. The entire process became very disheartening. I had loved this dress, but by the end, I felt so frustrated with both the workmanship and the way I was treated that it overshadowed my excitement. To be totally honest, my first impression of this place was not that great LOL. The interior of the shop is rundown looking and could definitely use some updating or renovations, especially the flooring. The changing room is a little room with a curtain, so not very fancy but it does the job LOL. That being said, they have a wide selection of dresses at very reasonable prices. This shop is one of the more budget friendly ones I have been to and the value is hard to beat. Our consultant Ana was very helpful and knowledgeable. We were allowed to browse the dresses on the racks and Ana would pull the ones we selected. My friend (the bride) also showed Ana pictures of dresses she was interested in and Ana did a fantastic job picking dresses that met my friend's criteria. Ana assisted my friend into all the dresses and was able to answer a lot of our questions regarding the dresses and alterations. Ana was funny and genuine, and we all really enjoyed having her as our consultant. When I think of this shop, I think of the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover." While not the prettiest, they have a great selection of wedding dresses and my friend even ended up getting her dress here! I normally don't write reviews, good or bad, but I told my friend about the experience I had here and she said I needed to write a review so that I could, maybe, save someone from going through the same experience. I thought about giving a 1 star, but given how Connie is just absolutely great and booking appointments with this business is easy and hassle-free, I decided to add another star. So here it is: Consultation: Anna helped me find a very beautiful dress. She let me try on different dresses and gave me input on what suits my body type. I placed an order the same day and paid in full. No complaints. Dress fittings: The dress came and it just wasn't the same fit/feel as the I one I loved. I told Anna about this and her response was "What did you expect? You tried on a size 14." I did not like her response. Had I known that the dress I purchased in a smaller size would look terrible, or had she told me it would look drastically different, then I would've gotten the bigger size and gotten it altered. This began series of dress fitting appointments which required me to drive nearly 4 hours round trip almost every weekend. It was exhausting and all I got was 15 minutes of "okay, it'll be ready next time." I paid for the alterations upfront (bustle, shoulder straps). Yet, next time comes and it's still not done. After, I decided to pay for alterations when I see that it's done (hem). Alterations: On one of the occasions, I brought my sister to see the dress. We were brainstorming to see what we can do to make the dress look better, which includes pulling the dress up a little more. Anna heard this and she grabbed onto my dress, while I was still wearing it, and yanked it so hard up and down (we heard it make ripping or stretching noises) and said that the dress wasn't budging anywhere. I also did not appreciate this. We were upset about how aggressive she was when we were just trying to make the dress work. Ultimately, because the dress wasn't done with hem alterations yet, I just asked them to cancel so that I could take my dress to another seamstress that could help me. In addition to charging me $900 for alterations, they wanted me to pay another $300 to make the fix I wanted m. It was ridiculous and I truly believed I could get it done cheaper elsewhere. But, Connie talked to me, offered me a discount on the alterations, and worked with me the rest of the time. She was sweet and listened to my concerns about the dress, offering her expertise and resolutions. I really appreciated that, although I disliked how Anna would give me attitude every time I walked through the door after that. I get that she may have her own hardships and problems to deal with, but aren't I paying customer that's already funneled a few grands into the family shop? It really made me wish I didn't pay in full to begin with. Overall: I still don't love my dress, but it's better than what I got even if it's not better than what I tried on. Connie is great. I would not recommend this store to any of my friends or people who ask about this store, though. read more

Vibe that just feels very insincere for a sale. Coming to ferndales was a wonderful experience--amazing selection with experienced veterans in the bridal world who know EXACTLY what you need all with incredibly fair and reasonable prices and in-house alterations. Towards the end, I found a dress I absolutely loved. I was set on it, and was ready to say yes but my dad said to wait and sleep on it. However, I knew this was the dress. I slept on it and waited a few days before calling and asking if I could come in one more time. I went in and knew it was the one. I said yes that day. Fast forward, I am now 5 days away from my wedding on 11/12/23 and I couldn't have made a better decision than getting my dress at Ferndales. All of the girls working here have made the process so smooth and easy. When it came to the alterations, Connie was amazing. She added all the tulle I wanted, she took my recently passed Aunt's ring and sewed it into the bust so I could have a piece of her wife me on the day, she steamed my veil, and she took my faux stole and added another loop so it would sit looser on my shoulders. Their dress options are so gorgeous it was hard to choose at first, until I found THE ONE of course! I'm still stunned on how beautiful it was And it fit me PERFECT! size wise! On the first try too. The prices are very reasonable especially compared to the other dress shops I did research on, this one was a life savor. I got married in April 2023. I went to two other wedding dress shops until I found my dress at ferndales. The employees were super nice and helpful. They had so many amazing dresses here! It was very difficult to choose just one! I had an amazing experience up until my wedding day. The dress I purchased didn't originally have sleeves. I wanted to add sleeves to cover my arms. My last bridal fitting we noticed that my left sleeve wasn't done. I asked if this was going to be done before my wedding? They said yes that they will have this complete. The day of my wedding comes and my friend picks up my wedding dress. After we do my hair and make up and I'm ready to change into my dress, my friend notices that my left sleeve wasn't done properly. The alterations looked very sloppy. At that point there was nothing I could do so we had to let the dress be. The majority of my wedding photos turned out very nice. I am a little upset, though that some pictures of my back, you can see the sloppy alteration. For the most part, most of my pictures turned out nice but there are some photos I cannot use because you can clearly see that the sleeve was done incorrectly. I definitely recommend to get your dress here but I would suggest getting alteration somewhere else. If you choose to get alterations here I would suggest making sure the dress is 100% the way you want it before walking out the store. We made the mistake by trusting the store to fix the sleeve and picking it up the day of my wedding. read more

After countless dead ends calling other bridal shops that didn't want to even try to work with me (since I'm plus size), I had spoke with Connie's husband (Tom, over the phone) regarding a specific dress I wanted. They had the dress but unfortunately not in my size. However, he went above and beyond to help me order the dress in my size and had it rush shipped in time for my Elopement in October! I had multiple visits to Ferndales to get fitted, get a visual idea of how my dress will look by trying on similar dresses and also to have my dress altered. Connie, Ana, and the rest of the team were just so friendly and understanding in helping me be wedding ready before my elopement day. They take everything seriously and had a level of professionalism I did not experience at other bridal shops. Probably because it is a family owned and operated shop versus more big box stores. Anna KNEW what would look best on me and it was hard to choose from the dresses she pulled - I fell in love with two - Which is a good problem to have! Ferndale's had such a better variety of dresses, good prices, and my consultant was wonderful. I mostly appreciated how she trusted that I knew how to put a dress on carefully and didn't insist on being in the changing room with me. Also, Ferndale's offers in house alterations. The other store did not. I've learned that this is a HUGE plus. Then Connie (?) came and sat down with me to explain the process of adding sleeves. She didn't talk down to me, and took a lot of time measuring me correctly and writing down every detail. I felt very safe in their hands. I felt for this bridal shop as well as all other vendors who were affected by the current pandemic. After trying out a few dresses at their shop, I found a dress what I thought looked best with my figure. They ordered a size 16. Unfortunately, I gained a lot of weight during this terrible crisis, and 16 no longer fit. I was sad to hear that the designer did not have larger sizes. As you can imagine, I was devastated not only because the dress I chose didn't fit, but I now had to try on a Size 20! I cried and wanted to cancel the purchase of the dress and request refund, but this bridal shop does not refund after the dress was ordered. I understand everyone is struggling financially, but the store owner stating they already had a sample of the dress that I tried on so I was I felt I had no choice but to try and find another dress in my price range of $1100 and my new size. Ana, owner daughter and part of bridal staff, was able to find another dress in their shop which was beautiful, full of bling and sparkle, but it was $1000 more, figured it would! So I felt I was forced to but a more expensive dress. I was quite upset. However, Connie, the owner gave me a great discount on the dress, but it still ended up being more than I wanted to spend on a dress. I'm a bride from out of town and flew in for work. To be honest, I was skeptic of Ferndales before I walked into the store because I'm a fan of chain stores just to be sure they have a wide selection of dresses. When I walked in, we were assisted by Emily. As we started to browse through the dresses, we saw a couple of excellent selections. Emily really understood what I wanted and continued to revise the dresses she pulls out for me based on my reaction to the previous dresses. She was respectful of the budget and didn't try to upsell. She was worried since my wedding date is close, alterations may not be possible and I will need to get something off the rack and that was honestly ideal for me. Less alterations the better! All I have to say is EMILY WAS GREAT, HER MOTHER AND DAUGHTER WERE GREAT and I couldn't have had a better experience buying my dress. I think I tried on more than 15 dresses from them and Emily was like a magician just pulling dresses from somewhere I didn't see on the rack and her mother and daughter would assist us while she does that.
