A nice chill place that has a build your own gin and tonic menu for the G & T drinkers. We went on a Sunday evening around 7 when they offer a Sunday roast menu, however, they didn't have any of the roast items that night. So I had the beef pie instead. The beef pie was good with the side of mashed potatoes, but like a few girls I know would say, I've had better. Overall, a good place, especially for the location and I, will try it again. hopefully on my second visit, I will be able to get the Sunday roast, and hopefully, it will be worth another star in my review. read more

Now god and London underground know I try to avoid Tottenham if possible, but I cannot fail to make a pitstop to the Ferry Boat whenever I find myself near there. First of all, it's actually off a main road on the very edge of Tottenham and not far from the resevoirs and lakes nearby. Okay it boils down to this: the food here is damn good! close your eyes for a sec - now think of all typical British pub food and think of them done very, very well. If you like some of what's in that imagination, then go to the Ferry Boat. The steak is particularly good and their desserts will surprise you a lot! The strawberry cheesecake there beats the undies off most fancy cake shops in the city. The atmosphere is good, no rowdy or shady characters here (apart from me of course~!) should make for a decent meal out with friends; a nice and spacious beer garden is also pretty good if the weather is nice (yep, all 4 good days of the year!) The only downer is the fact that the furniture is a bit off compared to the otherwise exceptionally nice interior (with woodfire and country house feel). The chairs are at times rickety, and some pretty mismatched and gawdy. It says 3 stars on top but I'd give it 3.5. I wouldn't cross the city to dine here, but if you want a safe choice and are nearby then check it out. Ash read more

A great rest stop close to the the towpath, just a short distance along the main road which passes over. Beers are great, food ordinary and unexceptional, but is good quality and cannot be faulted. I recommend the Beef and Double Gloucester pie. Vegetables can be modified if you don't like all of the mixed vegetables of the day. Everything is served fast by friendly and efficient staff. read more

I rather liked this spacious pub. It looks like the kind of pub you get out in the countryside, not just outside Tottenham. Outside in the beer garden by the water you could easily forget where you are, particularly when it gets dark. I had heard fairly uninspiring reviews of the beer but I can only drink (and review) what is put in front of me (as I do most regularly!) And the Sharps Honey was a good beer (that I hadn't had before) in good condition. It was their guest beer. Otherwise...snore...IPA and London Pride. read more

I first visited this pub some years ago, but that was in winter, so I never knew about the beer garden at the back. This summer I have paid two visits, on both occasions sitting outside enjoying the warm evening and later twilight. The beer garden stretches back a long way from the building, and it is flanked by a water channel, the Coppermill Stream, which flows past the pub, across Ferry Lane, and south to join the Lea at Coppermill Bridge on Walthamstow Marsh. There's a white picket fence at the edge of the beer garden, and extensive reeds growing on both banks of the stream, and the view beyond is towards the reservoirs, so there are no buildings in sight, only some nearby electricity pylons. With all this, and swans and geese swimming by in the water, it feels almost rural. I'm not sure when the pub was built but I believe there's been an inn on this site for many years. I would say the current building dates from the early nineteenth century, and the interior feels quite characterful -- as someone else said, rather like a country pub, with lots of nooks and crannies. I can't comment on the food as I didn't order any, but I saw people tucking into burgers that looked pretty appetising. I would imagine the food is a bit like Wetherspoon's fare but I didn't look at the menu to see what else they serve. On the ale side, on both occasions I visited I found about three hand-pumps in operation. I can't remember what the standard offerings were but on my first visit I had the guest Butcombe Bitter, which was very good and tasted in top condition. Last night I had something called Sunbeam, a sweetish golden ale that was again in great condtion and very enjoyable. The price for my pint was £3.50, which is not expensive for London these days. read more

Just a few minutes walk from the uninspiring Tottenham Hale shopping centre, stands the Ferry Boat Inn. It's a great place to start or finish a walk in the Lea Valley when you stand at the bridge by the pub and look along the river, you could be in the country rather than just outside central London. There's a fine garden to sit out in and lots of room in the interior. There are lots of reasonably priced items on the menu, and I'd especially recommend the desserts if you have room for them after a meal. read more

Yes, there's a bar in Tottenham Hale! Cheap food (a sharing plate for 5 people could feed 8 hungry souls and only set us back a couple quid), friendly staff and a wide variety of drinks. Not the best ambiance - mainly people over forty or people working - but we had a lot of fun for very little money. read more

Throw a stone and you'll hit a pub, right? So, there has to be something special about a pub to make it a good one. While the Ferry Boat Inn has potential, it just doesn't do much more than ooze "we could be". Blandish food, borderline slow/rude staff, and decor that's as standard (if a bit charming) as they come. The best thing about the place is the garden with tables under the apple trees next to the 'river'. We've been here quite a few times, but it's time to find a new place for Sunday lunch with friends. read more

This pub has got good food full stop! It may not be in the beat location but it is worth travelling to. There is a good amount of parking spaces but can also be reached by public transport - less than a 10 minute walk from Tottenham Hale Station. It is a typical English pub with plenty of seating although a bit dated. I have been quite a few times and highly recommend the Luxury Fish Pie ; ) The mixed grill is tasty but is quite small for the price. The staff are always friendly and helpful and happy to recommend their favourite dish, they all know the menu weel which is a good sign. The desserts here are amazing - warm 5 layer chocolate cake with cram or ice cream Yum! They have recently changed the menu but happy to say they have kept all the best dishes and added a few new ones. The ferry boat is also child friendly. hey have a kids menu with all the classics fish and chips or bangers and mash, ice cream is also served with the kids meal which according to Jorja, 5 it is really yummy! The only thing that lets them down is they sometimes bring out your main before you finish your starter - for this I considered giving them 3 stars. We went for a Sunday roast in the beer garden as it was sunny. The food was nice and very reasonably priced. The staff are really friendly and the beer garden is big and with a nice surrounding area near the reservoirs. Not a massive selection of beers but again they were at a good price! Monday night is 50% off at the Ferryboat! Result! The pub itself is next to a reservoir, and if it had been a better evening we would have sat outside. They had no record of our booking, but found us a table in about 5 minutes. We were near the open back door which was lovely for the breeze, but did make for a fair number of spiders on the ceiling above us! You pay for the food and your drinks at the bar which is good for groups as there are no discussions about the bill at the end! I had grilled chicken, which was succulent and cooked very well with a smattering of chips and some watercress (the mushroom and tomato I gave to a friend). Unfortunately the peach sundae was off, so I had the crumble: sweet, lots of cinnamon and good crumble. Definitely worth a look on a Monday evening - bargain! read more

Great pub a few minutes walk from Tottenham Hale. Recently refurbished both the indoor and outdoor space look geat. the beer garden is quite big and it has parking space, although it gets quite busy and can be a bit tricky at times to find a space. Good selection of wines and beers and outstanding food. I particularly like the sharing platters (havent quite had them all yet but plan to!). Staff is always pleasant. If you didnt know you were in North London you could quite easily think you are somewhere in the countryside and when it gets chilly they have heaters so you can enjoy the view even in winter (there is a small canal by the side). read more

Great classical pub. Its spacious and looks like a pub in the countryside. The beer garden outside makes you feel like you are somewhere else, in the middle of nowhere it feels relaxing. The beer is good and in overall the drinks are good, the food is nicely cooked and served. A perfect place to go with friends for a beer after a busy day. read more

Rang up on two occasions and spoke to two different members of staff. I was very disappointed as I felt they could have taken my name and telephone number in case someone handed in the ipod or a member of staff found the ipod. A real surprise for me as I didn't expect to like it at all when I walked in. It may be relatively "off the shelf" bland pub design but the food is great value, and to be fair there aren't really any places to compete nearby. Went for Sunday lunch in the winter. The interior is traditional and quaint if very dated. The fire was lit, which being winter was a nice touch, We had a baby and young child with us, the only place left was in front of the fire by a radiator. We had no highchair, apparently there was only one which was in use. We ordered 3 Sunday Lunches. We waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for Sunday Lunch... What with the heat from the fire and radiators made for a very uncomfortable long wait. When the meal itself arrived it had been warmed in a microwave. The meat was fatty, potatoes soggy, veg overcooked. The sauces took another 10 mins to arrive.I complained to the manager he said we were lucky to get a lunch and they were busy... Did the chef cook each lunch seperately or a whole roast/potatoes/veg???? Terrible food, terrible service. I would never go back, even though it is actually in an ok location by the river. read more
