You can't travel light with young 'uns! Sunday roasts and British dishes head the menu, though the selection for all courses was pretty extensive - I opted for their oak-smoked chicken liver pâté followed by the Sunday roast platter (roast beef, roast turkey and loin of pork) and then sticky toffee and apple pudding (because dessert). This is now A J W Lees pub, serves good real ales and the usual keg beers and is a welcoming oasis for those who live anywhere near. Even as complete strangers, we were made to feel welcome and were impressed by the efficiency of the barstaff. They were trying to serve a number of customers with drinks and food on a busy Saturday afternoon, yet were always smiling and calm. There is a large carpark as part of the site. The toilet facilities are excellent and perfectly clean and the whole pub is well-looked-after. After not visiting in many, many years, we shall be calling in much more often in the future, especially as I don't have to drive there - it is on the main bus routes.
