Eastman Credit Union - The letter that was sent to me

    Eastman Credit Union

I can't believe the low score I just saw for Eastman. I love Eastman, free checking, great…read moreservice, dividends paid, friendly people. I just wish the Jonesborough office was larger. I know there is a new one coming, just wish it would get here sooner.

Do not bank here if you expect consumer protection or respect. Eastman Credit Union utilizes lazy,…read moreautomated risk algorithms that aggressively penalize victims of merchant fraud and shipping failures. I recently underwent a major personal milestone, investing in a completely new wardrobe across platforms like eBay and Mercari. Out of over 90 successful transactions, I encountered a handful of standard e-commerce issues--items lost in transit by the carrier, or rogue merchants refusing to issue a refund after tracking explicitly proved the merchandise was successfully returned to them. I also had several items that weren't as described and had gotten damaged in shipping. Instead of honoring my lawful consumer rights under federal law to dispute these unfulfilled transactions, ECU automatically flagged my account. I received a highly insulting letter claiming I was "negligent" and failing to secure my PIN number. This is a complete lie. My physical card and PIN have never been compromised. When a manager called to discuss the letter, she completely gaslighted the situation, ignored my documentation, and actually attempted to dictate my personal shopping habits, telling me I shouldn't buy items online. Every major national bank handles merchant non-delivery and returns seamlessly. ECU, however, chooses to blame the customer to avoid doing the manual back-end work required to hold shady merchants accountable. They are currently withholding hundreds of dollars in legitimate reimbursements for items I do not possess, while stripping away my debit card access under the false pretense of "negligence." They do not operate from a place of integrity or sovereignty. If you want an institution that protects your assets instead of lecturing you for merchant failures, go elsewhere. I am taking my business and assets to a national institution that actually understands consumer law.

    D&K Management

I have waited for a few weeks after move out to post this review, I am sure this company will deny…read moreall of this but it is all true. Very friendly and helpful management company until you have paid all the fees, signed the lease and report issues with your apartment. I rented a totally renovated unit which upon viewing the unit looked beautiful. However there were several maintenance issues right from the start that should not have occurred in a newly renovated unit. I filled out the move-in checklist very thoroughly as I always do because that's what it's for. Two neighbors had no smoke detectors in their apartment and another didn't have a dryer vent to the outside. The floors are way off level and there is no insulation between upper and lower units. Within a week people moved in upstairs and it became very apparent that there was no insulation between the units making every footstep very loud on LVP flooring. The noise went on till one or two a.m. on some days and even after being spoken to these people would drop boxes and stomp around. No one should have to listen to their neighbors bed squeaking. I was not the only one complaining about noise from an upstairs apartment. Another tenant had been complaining for months. After sending several warranted emails about safety, maintenance issues and the noise from upstairs this management company sent me an email after hours that was full of inaccuracies about how many emails I had sent, when they were sent and how many phone calls I had made. This email told me I had three choices; deal with the noise and stop sending them emails- which instead of being seen as them doing their job they considered the emails harassment, the second option was move out and pay penalty and the third option was to be evicted. They do not care about you once they have your money and they do not follow Tennessee tenant rights. I also believe there could be health issues in these downstairs apartments as I could smell the musty odor from the basement which was reported. The basement is obviously not encapsulated so there could be a radon and mold problem. Despite all these issues they still forced me to pay a 2-month penalty and even though I vacated six days before my 30-day notice was up they insisted on those six days right down to the penny. They said if it was even $10 off they take me to collections. Money, money that is all that matters to D&K property Management. They do not care about people at all. They refused to do a walk through with me saying they were too busy. I had to email them and ask if they've done a walk through which they had done the same day I moved out and gave them the keys and they're ridiculous payment. I am sure they will respond to this review disputing my claims. These claims are true and I won't respond to their review because I suffered enough at their hands. I will let karma take care of them. Stay away from renting from this management company.
