This is a really cool cluster of sculptures. Field of Corn is literally a field of corn: tall sculptures of corn all evenly spaced apart in a field. It's kind of a trippy sight to see when you're driving by it. It's even more trippy when you get out of your car and stand in the middle of the field among the corn. So take the time to go out into the field and stand with the corn, is what I'm saying. The Midwest is known for producing corn, so it seems appropriate to come across artwork dedicated to corn as we were traveling through Dublin. Dublin has a lot of public art! This is just one of the artworks we saw in this town. I don't know who needs to hear this, but there were a lot of pawpaw trees in a grove adjacent to the sculptures. When we visited in the late fall, the pawpaw trees were bearing fruit and lots of pawpaws had dropped to the ground. If you're into harvesting pawpaws, this would be the place to visit to find them. read more

We stopped here yesterday for some photo ops. I saw this suggested on a Ohio Road Trips Facebook group. It's a whole field of human-sized corn sculptures. It's to signify the history of the community's farming legacy. There is a bit of information on plaques near the trees. If you're in Columbus, definitely stop here. I noticed this Yelp listing and got so confused. I had sworn that I left a review for this field of giant corn. Ahhh, but loandbehold I actually left a review for the tiny park that runs alongside the corn structures. Who knew?! In layman's terms this is simply a big field on the corner of an intersection that is filled with giant concrete corn structures. Dozens of big corn stalks standing upright in long rows. It's art really. And from what I read it was inspired by the long history of growing corn in Ohio. It's kind of comical really. Anyone not from Ohio thinks of corn when they hear Ohio, so it makes sense. As an adult, my time here wasn't as exciting as I thought it might be. However, I'm sure kids would love frolicking through the corncobs. Hide and seek could be fun. Or maybe a quirky photoshoot. I'm laughing out loud just picturing a rock or country band having an album cover shot here. Anyhoo, it's worth a trip if you need a little adventure. read more

I saw a bunch of carrot sculptures in Ann Arbor Michigan but they were nothing like this. Dozens and dozens of ears of corn all standing up in rows and rows. It was very unexpected and unusual. I don't quite understand but I'm definitely a fan. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way (like I did!) but if you're nearby then this is something to see. Like Jamie, I apparently reviewed the park, not the sculpture. Used to drive by this all the time, to the point where this surreal concrete conglomeration felt normal. It's corn- husked ears, standing upright, in the middle of an office park area. It's both an oddball local legend, and a memorial to what used to be here. Park along the back edge, on the drive up to an office. Walk among corn that is over your head- but grey, concrete, huge ears, not green stalks. Remember the farmland that was here. Imagine eating a cob dripping with butter. I used to think it was dumb. Then I accepted it as a quirky local landmark. Now I like it, as pure sculpture and as a poke in the eye of urban development. It's not something I take visitors to see, but I guess if we were running out of things to do or they were really into sculpture, I might. read more

It's the famous (infamous?) giant field of concrete corn! The installation is formally known as Field of Corn (with Osage Orange Trees), designed by Malcolm Cochran. It is located in Frantz Park, and it consists of 109 ears of corn in rows, each of which stands over 6 feet high. There is also a nice plaque about the osage orange trees, a few of which still stand on the far side of the field today. There is nearby pull offs for parking if you pull into the office parking lot and follow the signage. They say art is supposed to generate a reaction, feelings, conversations... if that's what we're going by, this certainly fits the bill! It definitely makes you look twice, if only to confirm that you did, indeed, see what you thought you saw at first glance. read more

The Field of Corn, also known as Cornhenge was a bit anticlimactic. It's a small field near an office building, randomly situated on a corner of an intersection in Dublin. My friends and I parked on the little street next to it (not on the busy road, just turn into the little two way street). We took a few pictures and then left ten minutes later. It's supposed to commemorate the fact that they used to grow corn around here before transforming the place into a suburban area with offices and such. It's one of those weird random things to do here. It was fun to see this but nothing to rave about. read more

This is located near one of my work sites and is one of the Dublin, Ohio landmarks. Once you've been here, if you come across it again, you know right where you are. The corn has been yarnbombed before and has probably been featured in senior photos. This is one of those random spots to take visitors to when they're in town. I had an acquaintance who worked in the office building located next to the field of corn and he said they would use the art to teach kids about GPS coordinates. How do you rate a field of corn? The art display is to remind people of the areas agricultural history. We were planning on going to the zoo but we woke up to rain. I hopped on yelp and turns out there were a few things to drive around and see. The urge to sharpie marker a kernel yellow was strong, I resisted though. Here on the corporate corner of Frantz and Rings roads is proof positive that Central Ohio can hold its own in the Midwestern passion for the kitch and-- I am going to say it--corny. So welcome all to the amazing artistry, to the white wonderment, to the taxpayer boondoggle known locally as Cornhenge! Created in 1994, Cornhenge is on land donated by the Frantz family and dedicated to the work of Sam Frantz, whose work in creating corn hybrids is important-- I guess. Its 109 statues are aligned in rows, made out of prefab concrete, and a representation of Corn Belt Dent Corn which Frantz may have developed. Flanking these monuments to maize are lines of Hedge Apple trees which were planted all around the areas in the pre-sprawl days. The landscaping is gorgeous even for the brisk spring Sunday I decided to visit. My walk through was surprisingly thought provoking; the joking aside, there is artistic merit here: what is the meaning of this? As I thought a truth came to me: there isn't a representation of corn here! No, no. See corn has a stalk, has wispy leaf shelfs, and a tassling top. No, no. These are not statue of corn. Sure they are of a part of corn, the ear, the part we all are familiar with post-processed, wrapt on the supermarket table, but it is not corn as it grows. . . In a field. Calling this Field of Corn is ironic. That's when Eurika came. See this area was once agriculture land far from the city, and Dublin a small farming village up the road. But then Dublin and Columbus ballooned, sprawled, and this became the ex-burg, Corporate plazas, malls, cupcakeland. And the agricultural identity of this place died, and we too lost our identity. We lost our connection with the land. Consumed by the placating convenience of our mechanized, computerized, compartmental world we became alienated to the land so much we think of corn as a product at the supermarket than a living plant that grows, forgetting about the stalk, the leafs, the tassels. No wonder this place is like a cemetery; corn as a reality is buried from us, popping up is corn the simulacrum. If you come here I am a lost to where you should park. I parked at the company building next to it, but am not sure if that is ok. They do have benches to sit in and enjoy a good book, or watch your children at play. Went for a long jog today to atone for my sins of the past week. Starting up by Muirfield, and taking a turn over by Perimeter Loop I made my way down Frantz Road and was thinking, what better place to stop and catch my breath than the Field of Corn Sculpture? Coming here on a Sunday morning, felt, well, wrong. I felt bad in a good way, like an idolator. Stopping to catch my breath in a sea of concrete corn statutes on the Sabbath. I will warn people--if you wear five fingers to run in, if you walk through wet/dewey grass the moisture seeps into your shoes and this really sucks. The grass here was dewey. Next time I decide to go this route and stop at FOCS (pronounced "fox" aka "field of corn sculpture") I will wear tennis shoes, or stuff a couple sandwich baggies in my shorts to cover my shoes with before I enter the FOCS area. read more

This is definitely unique .I suppose I hate it because I think its a huge waste of tax payer money, not so much an eye sore. It was paid for by the Dublin Bed tax so most of this was paid for by out of towners who didn't realize they were paying it. But this kind of waste ends up costing us all. Took the rooster for a walk today at the Field of Corn Sculpture. He enjoyed it very much.Very nice and majestic. 10/10 would recommend. Very rooster friendly. Mhmm yes. Um, what's the point of this place? I think if the corn was a little bit bigger, it would be much more dramatic here, it's kinda cool that they put in corn on a field I guess. It's like 5 feet high so driving by it barely makes your head turn. After passing by it the second time, the feeling will go away. It's worth driving by if you're heading somewhere. The name of this local landmark says it all: A field of corn, in sculpture. Sure, I've driven past it for years. Perhaps become a little desensitized to its weirdness, even. Only recently did I go walk around amongst the rows of cobs. For what it's worth, all of the bases of the standing corn seem to be unique. The part where the husks would be torn off on a real corn cob are authentically irregular. My pal took a nice artistic picture for Instagram while we were here. I would have called the capture "Unhusked at Dusk." This is a great venue for weird photographs. In fact, this is a great spot to put on a scavenger hunt list, if you find yourself needing to entertain a mixed-bag of relatives with good, clean fun during a Columbus visit. That weird Leatherlips head sculpture in dry-stack stone is somewhat close by. You could organize a Weird Central Ohio Sculpture tour. read more

If nothing else, this monument (using the term loosely...) serves as a nice landmark to direct people. "If you've hit the weird field of concrete corn, you've gone too far." It's not like I'd put this place on a list of things to do in Cbus. There's not even any benches or anything where you can sit with your Graeter's and enjoy the "view". Presumably this field will be there forever, preserving a little green space among the corporate office parks that line Franz road, which is a valid purpose, so I suppose this place is worthy of three stars. read more

Don't plan on going here its much better if you just randomly stumble upon it, preferably at night like I did the first time for the full WTF experience. I have no idea why this thing exists or if there is a point to it or what the point of a field of giant cement corn would be and I honestly don't want to know because I think it would lesson the bizzare creep factor. If you've never been out to see this you should and if you have any out of town guests coming to visit this is a good spot to nonchalantly drive through while talking about how normal Columbus is. read more

I don't know why I enjoy this art installation so much, but I do. Yes, it's somewhat ridiculous to drive through an area mainly populated by large corporate offices and see 6'-tall cement ears of corn. But it makes me smile every time I drive by it. I think the point is that it's so absurd. It's the contrast of a cement sculpture of what ought to be a colorful living field of corn. In the winter when it's covered in snow it has a really interesting monochromatic look with the gray cement, white snow, and usually gray sky. In the spring the cement is cool-looking with the usually rainy weather, kind of a juxtaposition of what rain usually brings (greenery and new life to agriculture) against the industrialized landscape. In the summer, when the city mows the grass around the sculptures it adds an interesting visual effect as the corn is in rows with the contrasting mow lines and it reminds me of how cool I used to think rows of crops were when you drove past from the freeway and the columns and rows whip in and out of view. In the fall, the trees around the corn turn and it give off the quaint autumn feel with the change of the seasons. It's the best time of year to take a walk around that area, there's so much liveliness to the season. read more
