There were a handful of different shops, like a Boba tea spot and a Shop called Normal, which is like a dollar tree with a maze set up. Like any mall, the goal is shop therapy. There are many shops in the mall for all your needs. Malls in Europe usually have a grocery shop and a store that acts as a one stop shop for household needs. Malls in Europe seem more practical than their counterparts in the states.

I figure that it provides the necessary evil if you want to go shopping for something specific but don't want to go all the way to the city or other big shopping malls, not that it matters (I come from the land of shopping malls and the ones they have here are very uninteresting to look at and be in). They have Irma, Føtex, inspiration, imerco and some other nondescript shops that are usually there in these kind of malls.

I intentionally planned my 2 days in Denmark around this area, with my hotel and the sites I wanted to visit within walking distance. The current station building opened in 1911, with a major overhaul in 1980 including elevators, escalators and a new station concourse. It has 7 platforms and 13 tracks, making it the largest train station in Denmark. With 100,000 travelers per day, it is the second busiest in the country. Getting to it from the airport required taking the M2 line, transferring at Kongens Nytorv to the either the M3 or M4 line to get here. The journey took a little over 30 minutes, and the trains were relatively crowded on both the inbound and outbound. The cost was (30,00 DKK - $4.69 USD converted) for the one way. There are no gates of any sort, and I didn't see any security doing ticket checks. Read on-line that fines could be substantial. Since the trains to the airport run so frequently, didn't have a chance to admire/partake of the station. On my next longer visit, will linger a bit more.

It seems the new 3rd floor is mostly dedicated to stores that only rich people can go in. I might be wrong, but they look so expensive I don't dare to go in. There's just too many clothing stores to be honest. No mall needs a billion clothing stores. There's 1 bookstore and as far as I remember 2 electronics/entertainment stores, which are pretty much the only stores I go in to. There's however also a very big Føtex, which is super nice, and right in front of that there's an escalator leading down to the metro, which is pretty great. But to be quite honest, this isn't really the mall for me. If you love clothing and don't care about 'Den danske hygge', this might be the mall for you.

This place is more like a collection of warehouses than an actual shopping mall. The location is…read morehowever spot on, since it's next to Herlev S-train station. You've heard all about those outlets / big warehouses that are located in obscure places like Ringsted or Næstved or what do I know and found out that it's extremely difficult to get there if you don't have a car, well this time Herlev is no longer obscure location in my eyes because (unfortunately) that's where my office is located. That said, this place got most of your shopping needs covered if you want to go to one-stop-shop. From supermarket (Netto, Føtex) to sports (Nike outlet, Sportsmaster, sport 24 outlet). From electronics (Power, El giganten) to pet supplies. They also have a cinema building too and some standard cafe (cafe A, Bone's and the like). Come here for the shopping, or the cinema and not for the culinary delights, and if you're nowhere near Herlev in the first place, maybe you shouldn't bother anyway. Most of the shops here are also available closer to town, perhaps not in the same location, but more convenient nonetheless for us mortals who don't own a car.

This flagship location of Magasin du Nord is 5 floors of glorious shopping. It's pretty much a…read moreone-stop shop for any of your needs. There's even a gourmet market in the basement below it with a bakery, pizza, fresh fruits & vegetables, and many specialty chocolates and candies. This part of the store connects to the underground Kongens Nytorv metro station. That's quite convenient for commuters on their way home from work. It's also great for tourists like us who want to buy last minute things like Lakrids of Bülow. There's a shop for that here as well. It's also where you'll find a coffee shop. We would eventually find out that there are many different cafés located on various floors of this department store. We found an express version of Hallernes Smørrebrød. I've written a separate review for this location, but for some reason it just doesn't show up in my Yelp activity. I just wish I had known about the other restaurant location on the top floor that boasts beautiful views of the square. We visited twice and somehow missed it. If anything, it would be nice to see a full directory of each floor listed on their website or near the entrance of the ground floor. The building is on the site of what was once the Hotel du Nord. Hans Christian Andersen was a resident of the hotel from 1838 to 1847. It's not the same building, but they supposedly recreated his room. It can be accessed on the 3rd floor. It's a second part of the store that I regret not seeing. Hence, the 4 star review for not having a clear map to everything without having to go floor by floor. It was a great find when walking through Kongens Nytorv Square. It's difficult to miss the beautiful French architecture of this building. It draws you in as you discover what's inside of it.
