No matter where you're from, this is three star hotel at best ......there was was mold all on the ceiling and the walls of the bathroom and we had the "top of the line" Superior Deluxe room. Right, sigh. There's no fan, vent or windows in the bathroom so that's probably why, but it's visible black mold and a lot of it. You'd think they would try to clean the surface and paint over it but nah they want you to know your shacking it up with mold. The furniture was visibly scuffed up and unappealing- If you care. They had a flat screen TV and there's chairs outside of each room door and the rooms were massive so yay for space to do a cartwheel and burpees The pillows were nice, the fan and aircon worked there was a mini fridge and a safe, meh. We were here for three nights..too many imo. The front desk was nice and housekeeping request were fulfilled fast. Assuming you stay out of the rooms this place is a gem, the fountains and the pool are lovely but once you include the molding underwhelming guest rooms this place is in the three star hotel category.

The beds were not very well taken care of with two flat sheets and no actual sheet to keep warm, my parents had to fix it twice during our stay.

We love the location and its neo-colonial Spanish architectural style as opposed to some of the modern glass-and-steel corporate hotels that could easily be found here in the U.S. or anywhere around the world for that matter. Our room was very nicely appointed, clean, spacious with natural light and cozy bed and pillows. The bathroom was big with double sinks, a huge modern walk-in shower with bench, and a partition that separated the toilet from the rest of the bathroom. With our connecting flight from Mexico City being delayed several hours, informed the front desk we'd be arriving late (after 1am), and the associate was very pleasant and helpful ensuring us our room would be ready when we arrived. An "A" for effort! Breakfast buffets at Stephens' restaurant were large and offered a wide variety of delicious, tasty, and an uber scrumptious authentic Yucatan food daily. Pollo caldo with limon y cebolla and salchichas got to be my favourites. For the not so adventourous foodies, the buffet also included standard American eats. Gym was somewhat of a let down for me. Small with only one treadmill, a stationary bike and some multi-weight equipment. There were no dumbbells or kettlebells and foam rolls available. Courtyard and pool is small but nice. Fountains surrounded by lush greenery provides a peaceful ambient environment in which to relax. Fresh towels were available on the lounge chairs. Staff is very cheerful and exceptionally helpful throughout our stay. This was the type of service we've encountered not only at the hotel, but throughout the community. From restaurants to boutique shoppes to tourist attractions, where ever we went everyone was delightful and went out their way to assist. Great location. A walking distance to Paseo de Montejo. Other establishments surrounding this hotel are Oxxo, Fiesta Americana, Hyatt, Holiday Inn., etc. Recommend using city taxis over Uber as there is an ongoing dispute between the City of Mérida and Uber. Overall, our stay was pleasant and definitely consider as our top choice when going back to Mérida. One word of caution...since the hotel's layout is very open and the floors are tiled, noise can carry which may be a disadvantage if you are looking for that tranquil spa like experience. The pool wasn't big but had several shelves of levels of depth. It had a fountain in the background that provided some peaceful ambient sound. The lounge chairs has fresh towels for drying off, though when many people come and go they can be depleted fast. The bathrooms were spacious with an open shower and a hidden toilet but no door separating it. The amenities were nice and were nicely stocked. There was a mini fridge which was locked, and a coffee maker but only one bottle of water for making a brew. Staff was pleasant and helpful in getting a taxi driver to take us to Uxmal and back for the day. Not the fanciest Intercontinental, but still a nice hotel.

They do have parking which is good, but hope they have spaces. It's on the same block about 100 or so ft from the Casa del Balam Entrance on the right. Merida is a city so no street parking and all paid parking areas. If you get an actual space, you don't have to hand your keys over, otherwise, good luck and don't leave anything inside. Make sure you grab a ticket and have the front desk stamp it so that you don't get charged for parking. Wifi? Oh my goodness...it was god awful. We had to be on one side of the room in a specific area and cross your fingers and toes and hope that you can get something. It was probably the room we were staying in 306 or something like that which was all the way on the 3rd floor all the way in the back corner. The Wifi in the main lobby area is quite strong, so if you want to stay down there for wifi great. Otherwise hope you get a room that gets a strong signal. Room? Gosh, we didn't have any towels, but the toiletries were ok. The only thing that was disturbing were these tiny little bugs that would come out of no where crawling over all our stuff. Don't leave sweet things out or at least make sure they're sealed. Actually make sure everything you have is sealed and above the ground...though these little suckers climb the furniture to get to everything. Very gross. We had to keep our socks on the whole time cause I don't think they clean the floor very well either. We had two beds. They were ok. Oh gosh, the room also was next door to the theater which had a lot of noise at night and the curtains don't really shield the lights from it. Overall? I don't know if you'll be able to find a better place that's situated in the heart of Merida. Just expect the noises, buggies, and well come on Sunday cause the city seems to have a bicycle day which means no pollution!

I would recommend to have breakfast somewhere else, but it seems like it's really hard to get good coffee and orange juice in whole Mexico - I wonder why. We had the breakfast which is such a great deal. When we wanted to go exolore the city a little bit Enrique got us a map and detailed some places we wouldn't want to miss. We really appreciated his english as well. an On our last afternoon there, we got an in-room massage from Sophia who also has good English. It wasn't the absolute best massage I've ever gotten but the price was right. Overall I'm very pleased with this little gem. The ambiance is great.

The mansion dates back centuries and was transformed into the grand family home you see today during Mérida's golden era. What makes staying here especially wonderful is that the family connection continues. The great-grandson of the original owner personally greets guests as they check in, and in the morning he is often there in the beautiful open-air rotunda, graciously making his way from table to table to see how everyone is enjoying their stay. That kind of hospitality simply cannot be manufactured. And the mansion itself is glorious. The rooms are extraordinarily elegant, with exaggeratedly high ceilings, beautiful architectural details and the wonderful sense of scale that only a true historic mansion can provide. And, on a very practical note: GREAT water pressure! Anyone who travels frequently in Mexico will appreciate just how noteworthy that can be. The location may be equally perfect. Mansión Mérida sits beside Parque Hidalgo, one of the cultural gathering places in the historic center, surrounded by magnificent architecture and just steps from the cathedral, shops, galleries and some of the best restaurants in Mérida. You can walk almost everywhere you want to go. There are many beautiful hotels in Mexico. Mansión Mérida is something more--a magnificent old family home whose history, elegance and gracious hospitality are still very much alive.
