It is a fascinating piece of art with a biomorphic profile that changes continually as you moves around it. So interesting to try to make sense of the shifting and distorted forms. As you walk towards the sculpture, human faces reveal themselves and then seem to disappear only to reappear in a different form at a different angle which is classic for Cragg's artwork. Nice to visit the fluid sculpture in Downtown Houston.

The Westpark Tollway is a really awesome road filled with (lol) goal oriented people (lol) because those who don't use it (lol) can't possibly have goals in life (lol). (Get up and see the sarcasm in my eye?) But it's useful to get you to Katy without much traffic, or to spots like Richmond and the Energy Corridor and even over to Alief and Chinatown sometimes. In heavy traffic it can occasionally rescue a driver just in time when 69 is a nightmare, or a little too late (since the 610 junction is when it's really bad). I'm glad it exists, but they should probably have put three lanes on it because then getting to Katy quickly would be a lot easier and the tollway would be less prone to hold ups from bad and slow drivers in both lanes. It's a strange highway because it's so skinny and cuts right through neighbourhoods and I feel bad for a lot of the people who live along it - but Life Goes On.

Dang that Westpark tollway was totally the ticket! It was empty (mid day) and I was at the Galleria in 20 minutes! Awesome! It is absolutely EZ tag ONLY! There is no option to pay with coins or cash, so don't even try it without an EZ tag. Why not 5 stars for an awesome convenient tollway? Well, the interchange at HWY and the tollway sucks. It's a major intersection, but to get on the Westpark tollway going east, you have to travel 2 miles on regular roads. When you get off the tollway going west to get to Hwy 6 south you have to travel even further. Dumb. There should be a quick on and off entrances and exits. Otherwise, it's a great road and makes suburban life much more convenient.

This is a pretty amazing mural that is located in the Montrose neighbourhood. It's remarkable that Florence has her own mural now and I guess she's very popular with the Hipster crowd and the gay crowd and the alternative crowd and the liberal crowd - i.e. all the crowds that live around here and/or frequent the neighbourhood. So that's just one of the reasons why she became one of Houston's murals and actually one of the most memorable, but it's completely awesome and I appreciate it and it's right in my neighbourhood and adds a lot to it, and was done very professionally as well. I have loose morals, sure, but Houston doesn't have loose murals. They're actually really tight.

Upper Kirby is my fave part of Houston. If it were in Austin or Beaumont, it would be my fave part…read moreof those towns too. However if it were in Dallas it would only be my 2nd fave part. My fave part of Dallas is, and will always be, that inevitable part of Dallas when Tony Romo throws a wild interception in the final moments of a vital game, and the season collapses yet again. And then out of frustration, he shoots J.R. It's true. Tony Romo shot J.R. Now you know. For my review #2,016, which is the last "themed" review I'll do that matches up with the year that the review # corresponds with (did that make sense), I am doing Upper Kirby, because in 2016 I'll probably be spending a lot of time in this district, and am looking forward to it. This part of town is where I had my third-ever Houston concert, having just performed the first two within 24 hours previous of that concert. I met a wonderful friend-for-life at that concert as well as many other good friends too. So it's a very special part of town for me. It has great things to eat (including my friend), great places to shop (where I drive my friend around and she goes shopping), and great nightlife (as long as my friend is there). The place where I performed the concert in question is now closed down, but I'll review it another time. However this (just ahead of Montrose) is my favourite part of Houston, blending the factories of Pasadena with the stuffy suburban-ness of The Woodlands. Okay, I'm kidding, it's not stuffy, it's not suburban, and it doesn't have an abundance of factories. It's a very cool, very trendy part of town, with a lot of young people, and is a wonderful place to live, shop, eat, visit, or make out. Especially the making out part, especially if it's with the girl in question. And she does tend to make out with any random (cute) person, so if you hang out in this neighborhood for long enough, you might get lucky. Very very lucky. She prefers people with lots of $$ though. And cute. Did I mention that part. Oh and Michael H asked that they fix the sewer smell in this hood. I haven't smelled it, honestly, but that was 4 years ago, so... did someone take care of that? No? Nobody? If it were all farmlands full of cows and pastures, then it would be "Udder Kirby." But it's not, and anyone who tells you it is, is feeding you Udder Bull**it. That's like saying my stunning friend that lives in this part of town went to an Ivy League school and is a former lawyer. Yeah right! Nobody could be that smart and cute too!? Surely not? Then again maybe so and don't call me Shirley.

although this was a last minute invite, the event was well organized!…read more the day was absolutely perfect for the event style. the weather was phenomenal. some sun, a breeze, and a nice cocktail = perfect way to close the day. they passed hors d'ouevres : lamb chops, tuna tartare, beef something, a mini chicken taco, and crispy fried tofu. they also offered two signature cocktails, but had a mini full bar (just the basics) the layout was open and airy; however, the layout of the art work was sad. i feel that the event staff could have arranged the sculptures to enhance the aesthetic of the event and also.. spotlight the art work. everything was very neat and organized.. but very sterile in terms of aesthetics. i was disappointed to find out that there wasn't any desserts but i realize that at a lot of events no longer offer desserts. so sad. they passed those same hors d'oeuvres the entire event. i was definitely bored after the first half hour with the food, but the people and the cocktails kept me entertained! this was a very professional event, and the focus was definitely on mixing and mingling. i met some really cool people. thank you yelp for working hard to put events together for the elite community! c.

Flash Fun- Last Min ALL-STAR event. This was truly a spare…read moreof the moment, on the spot experience. I didn't read the late night email until the day after, which was the day of the event. Glad that Yelp a was rapid with the response, and I was able to attend, with only a 90 minute notice and reservation. I haven't' been to the Cistern since Farrah was the CM and we held a yelp event here to visit. My Highlight moment! It was a real treat meeting the local artist Betirri who wore this beautiful gold FIFA brooch that he collected from Moscow Russia, in a trade. I have a brooch I will trade with you too. Did you know that Betirri is the artist who designed the 230 feet long World Cup mural? Which is the longest World Cup mural, which take months to complete. It's called the "Gateway Mural". Find it at Harrisburg BLVD. A mural that presents a part of each country united. I can't wait to see it! Drinks and Treats: I was informed that Café Natalie was the caterer. I started with cucumber infused water, which had the appearance of lemonade, and a sweet taste like it as well. Way better and sweeter than predicted. 5/5 for sure. Watermelon pop 3/5 I loved the circler watermelon bites, not a fan of blue cheese. Beautiful presentation though. Chicken Tinga Taco 8/5 I love these baby bite tacos! So pretty & tasty. They were prop up on two lime slices for display. Tuna tartar wonton cone, 5/5 were like a tiny cone egg roll, not really a big fan of tartar tuna, but these beauties look to pretty to eat, and had the perfect deliverance of crisp and flavor; just like the Tinga Tacos. Crispy Tofu, 3/5 was my least favorite, the sweet chilli sauce, was the best thing on it. Not much into tofu. It was nicely presented, and severed warm. Lamb lollipop I had them served two ways. I'm a traveler at heart and I didn't do a lot of it in 2020 so I pivoted to seeing more of what my…read morecity has to offer. Part of that was checking out various statues and murals outdoors. A recent mural to join the art scene is the George Floyd mural. If you don't know who he is, I can't help you. This piece of art was created on the side of a food mart in the neighborhood in which George Floyd grew up. I pulled my car to the side, got out, and took some pictures. It's an impressive mural that depics George Floyds as an angel. Many months after he died, there were plenty of flowers at the base of the mural. It has become a memorial of sorts.
