We were visiting in late September and the weather wasn't too sunny so the place was pretty sparse. I'm sure in summer it's a different story but we loved walking along the Long Beach with its gently sloping sand.
Not really any shells here so it's a great walking or sandcastle beach. Because of its proximity to the city of Portimão (the building tower above it), there are a lot of concessionaires from chair rental to watercraft rental to many bars and restaurants-plenty of activity.
Also we learned on our last day there is a small tunnel on the far western edge and you can continue walking much further to additional adjacent beaches.
As beach walking is my favorite pastime, this was my ideal beach.
