    Pastrami and cheese sandwich

The delightful outdoor seating and delicious fresh bread with olive oil and seasonings led me to expect great things from Filho's. But I guess we ordered the wrong things. Hubby enjoyed his mushroom ravioli in white sauce that tasted bland to me. My pastrami special was just OK.

The food is magnifico. Very popular spot, one of my all time favorites. Do go next door to grab a bottle of wine to bring back to your table. Wine glasses graciously provided!

    Suppose to be a 'panini'.

I've been a frequent customer for 22 years. I often visit with family and friends and have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. A recent visit with a friend was a disappointment. She ordered a panini. A panini as many of us know, is a sandwich that is grilled or pressed in a panini press. Her 'panini' came out as a small sub roll, 2 slices of tomatoes, a glob of mozzarella and a smear of pesto. Not grilled, not cut...nothing. $13. We asked the waitress about it and she said 'that's it'. I contacted the owner and was told panini in Italian means sandwich. No sorry, no compensation. Just 'sorry, it's Italian for sandwich. I'm done! He missed a great business opportunity by turning things around. Although restaurants are few in our town, I won't be going back.

Mushroom Ravoli with red peppers and cream sauce.

Second experience here and second time being disappointed. First time I had the lasagna, but the red sauce tasted like sugar. Decided to give it another shot and see if they did a better cream sauce: but it was not much better.

Entirely forgettable experience here... we walked in…read morefrom the frigid evening hoping to be warmed by the restaurant but it was freezing inside and drafty. The dining room we were sat in was incredibly bright compared to the main dining room. Not a good atmosphere for when you want a relaxing dining experience + a filling meal when you're famished. I genuinely cannot describe how awkward the dining room felt. Appetizer: my friend and I each ordered caesar salad. I asked if there was a small portion because I didn't want a whole. My waiter was Italian, so I believe he didn't catch my question so my complaint isn't on him regarding the salad... but the salad was SMALL for $12. A handful and a half of romaine, the most acidic caesar dressing ever--so much that it was stinging my lips. A few croutons. And 2 anchovy filets--the best part of the salad overall, haha. I would have been okay paying $6 but not $12. Horrible start. We shared the calamari. It was flavorless with not even a touch of salt. Served with cold marinara sauce, no lemon. $16 calamari... I'd pay $8-$10 for that because I know PLENTY restaurants who have decent and thoughtfully prepared cal for the same price. We order entrees. One of my girlfriends ordered the tortellini carbonara. $26 entree. Served literally COLD, not even room temp. the sauce was minimal, it looked like a naked dish of multi-colored raviolis I used to eat growing up as a child... so yeah it looked like grocery store food with nothing added to it. She sent it back, but denied the option of ordering another meal... we had learned our lesson by now. My entree was one of the special chicken dishes. I think the most "popular" one, it was an herbed chicken or something with risotto I believe. Such an unforgettable and distasteful meal that I genuinely forget what it was. Entire dining experience was a waste of time, money, and calories lol. Our waiter was kind to give us complimentary cannolis to try and save the day :)

We've visited twice now, and both times, her warmth and commitment to making sure we're taken care of have just been outstanding. We've eaten so well based on her recommendations, too--from chicken and seafood and pasta all the way to dessert. The portions are generous for the price, and everything tastes like it's made with love by the Italian relatives I wish I had. We've had the pleasure of sitting by the fire in the winter, and hope to visit next when we can sit outside in the summer. Thanks to Trisha and everyone at Lucia's, we're already looking forward to our next visit!

We had a phenomenal night of drinks, food, and legendary musicians at The Bull Run, Shirley, MA…read more(Apr 2026)! Their huge 275-seat event space was packed at tables for 4 to 8, for the two 1-hour sets of Live Dead & Brothers Band, an Allman Brothers - Grateful Dead group of legacy musicians from those bands and families!!! An authentic rockin' performance! They opened hot, with Feelin' Alright and Truckin', and ended hot with Midnight Rider, Ramblin' Man, and Jessica, with around 14 more between. The acoustics were excellent at our table, and we also took up our share of the crowded dance area :-) Their tour continues at least through Dec 2026. Our tickets were about $50 each. Service was fast and friendly, and they let us pull up one more chair for our group of nine. You can get crafted beers and cocktails. We settled in with ice cold regional beers, which honestly are just as distinctive as fancy craft beers. We got some food to share off their "concert menu", too. An entrée-size dish of rich creamy homemade Mac & Cheese, made with tasty aged Grafton Cheddar, soft slightly-al-dente curly Cavatappi pasta tubes, not-overcooked green beans, as i recall, crisply crusted with lightly-maple breadcrumbs. Very flavorful and satisfying. A sweet fresh bright Autumn Salad of greens, pecans, and bright beets, in tart vinaigrette. And juicy "Bull Run Classic" burgers with crisp lettuce, tasty firm tomato, mildly-sharp red onion, and, for one of them, an add-on of rich cheddar, all on a cloud-like brioche bun. They do ask for $20 per person food/beverage minimum for all shows, essentially an entree or a couple beverages each. That's about what we had planned to order anyway :-) This place knocked us out with their dedication to farm-to-table ingredients, sourced from more than 25 regional farms named on the dinner menu. We've never seem such an extensive list of the actual sources. Very cool! The Bull Run has been a tavern since 1741, named after the Battle of Bull Run in 1861, (or in another version, named for a brawl in the tavern at the same time :-), and has been run by the Guercios extended-family since 1946. It was a stop on the stagecoach route and a gathering place for the Revolutionary war. We loved the original wood, structure, and décor. The fireplaces were lovely. It's a huge venue. Bull Run has live music every week, and they're open Wed-Sun, but watch their schedule because dates vary, sometimes one day that week, sometimes all four! This show was in their 275-seat room. There's at least one larger room for around 400. Theres a little parking along Rt 2A, and much more out back across the covered bridge. Dont be put off by the rustic exterior. We loved this legendary performance at a legendary restaurant!
