One word: N A S T Y. Do NOT eat here. It looked promising at first when it was just down the street from the laundromat where we were finishing laundry. It looked promising when we walked in and the decor was so cute with license plates and stoplights. It looked promising when the wait staff were very nice and delivered an extensive menu. That's where promising ended. I ordered mozzarella sticks with marinara, a dinner salad and a side of cottage cheese. Pretty simple, right? The waitress asked what I wanted on the salad??? I said hard boiled egg, tomatoes, cucumber, whatever vegetables they had. She sort of shook her head as if she did not know what veggies they had. I ordered a side of blue cheese dressing. Mother in law ordered a grilled chicken salad. Mozzarella sticks took 25 minutes? I actually had to leave to get our laundry caus we were waiting so long. Came back to lukewarm NASTY mozzarella sticks that we did not finish. The marinara was underwhelming and warmer than the cheese sticks. Gross. Then we wait another 10-15 minutes wondering where the heck our simple salads are. The staff would not make eye contact. We kept looking for someone who would check our order and gave up. Finally after 45 min of waiting we get our "salads" YUCK. Mine we the tiniest bowl of white / pale green iceberg lettuce. A piece of white onion. A small plastic container of dressing sat on top of the sad lettuce. THAT WAS IT. Where are the vegetables I asked for? I look at the salad my MIL got and THERE was my hard boiled egg. There were the chopped vegetables. Luckily she offered to share her egg and vegetables with me. My salad was NASTY. She did not like hers, it was covered in melted cheese. Only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because the waitresses were very nice. It wasn't their fault the kitchen staff can't make salad. read more

GREASY! We were really disappointed with our breakfast here. It was the only sit-down breakfast on a Sunday AM. The building is dated and cluttered with memorabilia on the walls. The service and food arrival was lighting fast, which is a tell tale sign of poor food. The omelet we got was swimming in grease/oil. It was mostly cheese and had very little else. The coffee is unremarkable. My scramble eggs were unseasoned and not fluffy. Skip this joint if you can. read more

Review Visit: September 7th, 2014 Three visits. Three stars. Like many places on my list, the Fillin' Station is one that I've drove by many times without thinking to stop there. We all do it. Its just a thing we do for places that are local to us. We gloss over them because they are there to visit at any time but we never actually end up going. With my travels, this is something I actively work on countering. The time came for my dad and I to get breakfast one morning and I suggested the Fillin' Station. We both knew about it. We both heard good things about it. We both agreed to check it out. We pulled up and barely were able to park due to it having a strange parking lot layout. I can't describe in unless I was physically there looking at it. So, keep that in mind if you stop in for a visit. We walked in and the first thought I had was... "oh, its like a diner but not". It has a diner feel to it. It some of that 50's diner decor. But it also had it's own decor of... stuff? I couldn't really find a theme among the things hung on the wall. Just older stuff. That's fine. I'm here for food and the random stuff on the wall keeps your eyes wandering. Once seated, we got to looking at the menu. The Station offers your typical diner food at diner prices with some personalized menu items unique to the restaurant. We came for breakfast but it was around brunch and a burger sounded appetizing, so that is what I ordered. My dad stuck with breakfast. It didn't take too long for our food to come out as we were in between the breakfast and lunch rushes. The food was placed in front of us and I was pretty happy with my meal portions. My dad was not. What he ordered and what he got was not quite what was expected. A little less but sometimes the taste and "fullness" can make up for that. We dug in and we both had the look of disappointment on our faces. While the food itself looked presentable and full of flavor, it lacked that last part. Flavor. My burger was a hunk of meat surrounded by toppings. Luckily the toppings themselves were full of their usual goodness. But that meat patty was devoid of all flavor in existence. My dad made the comment that his meal was similar to cardboard or another tasteless object. We didn't stick around long after finishing our meal and left with taste buds that feel like they were woken up for nothing. The waffle fries on the other hand were pretty decent. Not the best I've had but also not the worst. It was passable considering the rest of the meal was less than appetizing. Now, I have been back twice since this first visit. I will talk a bit about those times and how it bumped the score from a 2 to a 3. We came here after a St. Patty's party the following year or something like that. We were all hungover and hating the world. We ordered an assortment of food and downed it quick to help feel better. Whether it was the hangover or the different food items, it wasn't so devoid of flavor this time. While it still left a lot to be desired, it registered some responses by my mouth. Again, after a New Years Eve of fun and drinks, we found ourselves here with some killer hangovers and killer desire for greasy food. Again, we ordered something. I couldn't tell you what. But it was greasy and it may not have helped the hangover in any way but it did help us feel better. This time, the food was a small notch above the prior visit which was a notch above the prior visit. I've heard only good things about this place and have had only less than average food when I come here. Maybe it's just my taste buds that aren't compatible with the food here. Maybe everyone else is ordering something special. Either way, don't take my word on it. Try it out for yourself to see what you and your stomach thinks. read more

I have eaten here many times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My favorites are anything on the breakfast menu, the onion rings, and liver and oinons. I never have enough room for dessert, but their list looks wonderful. Last night we stopped for dinner. I had liver and onions. For $10.25 I had a bowl of stuffed pepper soup, 2 slices of liver with grlled onions, fresh steamed broccoli, baked potato and a roll. Everything I ate was delicious. Wed nights is chicken night and Fridays is fish night. Try them out if you haven't. Great food and friendly service in a diner atmosphere. You can't ask for more than that in my book. read more

We've never had a bad meal yet! Prices are reasonable. We eat there 2-3x's a week. I highly recommend the Filling Station.

Understand that the business is about 1 year old as of this date. A very reasonably priced place for breakfast. The food (french toast) and bacon were very good. The other two in our party also thought that their meals were very good. The decor is all about....a fillin station. Pretty neat with a nostalgic feeling. Besides tables, has a food counter too. Been going here for a while now. Gebby's when in Peoria, Amber and Marty's when in East Peoria. I love a good breakfast. Over the last year or so, we have noticed a small bit of "falling off" from the place. The staff is awesome and attentive (it doesn't matter who waits on you, all the wait staff will help you with anything). The place is clean (minus the flies...but we live in Illinois...so we have to deal with them everywhere). The portions have gotten progressively smaller. Used to be, we would plan our order so we ended up with one hash brown order so we could share it. Now we have to get two because there aren't as many hash browns as there used to be. The eggs and omelets are smaller than they used to be also. But the food is still good. And the buttermilk pancakes are the best I have had. We only get one and split it. (in addition to the other foods we eat). Great little local place to go for breakfast on weekend when I don't have the energy to cook at home. read more

I love coming here on Saturday morning and getting breakfast. The servers are always friendly and fast. The food is great. The prices are very good! A lot of places like to charge a lot for some pancakes and bacon. They are affordable and have great food! I can't say for dinner though because I've never had it. read more

Went here with my father, based on the restaurant being featured on PJ star. Not disappointed at all! The decorum is a charming 1950's service station with license plates, guitars, and an old fashion gas pump outside! The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. I ordered the grilled chicken breast topped with Swiss cheese, onions, green peppers, and mushrooms. My father ordered the chicken fried chicken. The dinners include a salad, choice of potato, veggie, and a roll. We both went with ranch dressing for our salads. I went with a baked potato and my father mashed potatoes. The vegetable of the night was a California medley. Overall the food was great and the total came to $17.75! Awesome price for the large amount of yummy food they serve you. Would definitely recommend and will be going back to try the breakfast! Only suggestion I can think of would be to add milkshakes or malts to go with their theme! read more
