Disappointed by the quality I was on a walk in my way to a coffee shop and decided to get this place. I am a sucker for a good croissant. I love love a good croissant. I decided to go in and buy the following: Butter Croissant -- it is any other croissant. It's not flaky, more dread-y. There was only two and it was 12 noon (see pic) so it just showed me either they sell out insanely quick or they just don't stock up. Not good, not special, not worth a detour especially for the price. Raspberry filled heart cookie -- nope. The cookie itself has no flavor. It's cold, it tasted like a packet of cookies you get from the store, jam layer is not thick enough. I'd pass. Pistachio Chocolate cookie -- very on trend but I'll pass. Too sweet and too expensive for the flavor. Chocolate chip cookie -- any other cookie. Highly highly underwhelming and overrated. Not worth a detour. The pictures below are everything there is, the rest is cakes and some other chocolates. Not worth my money.

The BEST cherry pie in the Bay Area!!

PIE...oh my! I have been a fan of Fillmore Bakeshop since it opened in 2010. The bakery offers the most delicious cakes and pastries but the pies are the stars in my opinion. Their pies keep me coming back for more. The crust is perfectly flaky with just a hint of sweetness in the dough. They remind me of the pies my Aunt Sophie used to make. My favorites are the cherry and blueberry options. The fillings are perfectly balanced and generous. The flavors vary with the seasons so keep an eye out for current offerings. I'd suggest ordering whole pies in advance so your first choice is reserved. Check them out, you won't be disappointed!!

Reuben croissant. It comes with a pickle. IT COMES WITH A PICKLE.

This place is amazing and it's shame on San Franciscan that there's not a line out the door. Maybe because it's not bespoke. Comfortable, whimsical, creative, but not bespoke. The folks at the counter banter. The music currently playing is 70s jazz. The coffee is refreshingly mid. I don't need a third and a half wave experience, I need something to wash down flakey dough. There are some pretty tame scones and whatnot but also, today, right now, an everything bagel croissant with cream cheese filling. A Reuben croissant. Mushroom quiche. Lemon blueberry buns. Chocolate croissants the size of your head. Sorry, morning buns sold out, but by the time you read this review they've probably baked some more. The chairs are bright yellow. The suggested to on the point of sale device includes a 7% option which is a delightful counterpoint to the one I was accosted with the other day that started at 22%. There is sauerkraut and more pickles in my croissant. I may come back every day between now and when I leave SF. I may never leave.

They make some dangerous birthday cakes here. Their mille feuilles aka Napolean cake is unreaaal! Had it for my birthday twice and I still think about it. Also tried the hazelnut chocolate cake. No words! And I'm not even a chocolate lover. Def one of my fav spots in SF. Worth every penny!

Chocolate Croissant (I didn't like the extra chocolate on the outside).

I ran in and out of Fillmore Bakeshop on the way back down to the parking garage. I was looking for Kouign Amann, but they didn't have any. I didn't want to go home empty-handed, so I bought a butter croissant and a chocolate croissant. I warmed them up in the toaster oven when I got home. The butter croissant was very good. I didn't like the extra chocolate on the outside of the chocolate version. I would've preferred just the two bars of chocolate inside.

Fillmore Bakeshop is soooo lovely. The staff was kind, the energy was warm, and the variety of baked goods was impressive. There's a few little tables inside to enjoy your pastry and coffee, and it's just so pleasant and relaxed. My almond croissant was delicious, warm, and fluffy. Extremely high quality. I hope to come back the next time I'm in the city.

The everything bagel croissant with cream cheese stuffing is so good! It's a neat idea I haven't seen done before. They've got lot of sweeter pastries / desserts too which I'll try next time!

I was excited to see a nice little quaint bake shop on the corner in these busy streets of San Francisco however, I was underwhelmed by the welcome and the fact that they were on their way out the door probably didn't help them much. They obviously closed pretty early and it was about 4 PM when we arrived. They display case was really full so I was Surprised that they were closing regardless of that- I purchased a pecan shortbread which is a thin slice like cookie and a couple of other cookies. 3/5

Came here in the morning for some pastries and they both were soo good & fresh! I got the pastries quickly & was able to beat the morning rush! The vibe in the shop was nice & clean I will definitely come back to try the almond croissant everything looked amazing!

The infamous mug that brought us here. Adorable!

I'm always hunting for spots like this because I have a weakness for those over-the-top, Instagram-worthy desserts that look like diabetes in a dish. Like most places in this genre, A Buttercup is small, modern, and minimalist with limited seating. If you plan to go, aim for off-hours unless you enjoy waiting in line for sugar. The decor is cute and trendy, perfect for photos if that's part of your dessert ritual. As they say, "you eat with your eyes first," and when it comes to presentation, this place definitely gets an A+. The desserts look stunning and set high expectations. Unfortunately, that's where things started to crumble. It's like going to see your favorite artist live. You've watched the videos, memorized the songs, and paid for the experience. But instead of the electric performance you imagined, you get someone lip-syncing and barely connecting with the crowd. That was this place in dessert form. We ordered the Mango Bingsoo on our first visit, and when it arrived, we were surprised by how small the portion was. The guy next to us even looked over and said, "Whatever that is, I'm getting that next time." He shouldn't have. The Bingsoo looked great but was bland, and the "snow" was more chunky ice than soft shave. The Thai Tea Roti was also not what I expected. It came with Thai tea ice cream and sauce alongside a roti that was fried to a crunch. Interesting idea, just not the best execution. The sauce and ice cream needed a stronger Thai tea flavor to balance the crispy roti, and the flavors never quite came together. Overall, A Buttercup nails the aesthetics but misses the flavor. If you're here for the photos, you'll be happy. If you're here for the taste, you'll leave with a full camera roll and an unsatisfied sweet tooth.

The treats were tasty, but on the pricier side. I believe the pricing reflects the quality of the chocolate used in the products, so to me, the pricing is justified. The outer shell of the canelé had a nice crunch, but the inside actually reminded me of a chocolate brownie, and was less custardy than your typical canelé. Despite not being super traditional, I still really enjoyed the treat. With the chocolate chip cookie, I loved the giant chunks of semi-sweet dark chocolate embedded within it. I appreciate that the cookie itself wasn't overly sweet. With most cookies, I usually can only tolerate having a few bites, or need to have a coffee in hand to enjoy it, but I didn't feel like that was the case here: both treats were delicious. Overall, I would definitely stop by Dandelion Chocolate again if I'm looking for a well-crafted, sweet treat.

The store is larger than it looks with some seating along the sides and back. I opted a small cup of the lychee black tea and auntie Kendra's garden. The lychee black tea was INCREDIBLE, strong, strong tea and fruit flavor, perfectly creamy, and not too sweet. The more memorable of the two, however, was definitely Auntie Kendra. It was a vanilla base with salty plum juice, passion fruit, and preserved lemon peel. The delicate vanilla, the lemon aroma without the sour tang, the floral, exotic passion fruit, and the unexpected punch of salt and earthiness from the plum juice, this is a WHOPPER of a flavor. Every bite allowed me a new appreciation of the layers of flavors in this scoop. While a bit pricy, Garden creamery is on par with the other local ice cream spots in SF and well, the flavors and my enjoyment of them speak for themselves. I will definitely be making more trips out here to try their other flavors!

Having a drink in hand already, I refrigerated one of the gifted items before putting the other two there too. Watching my sugar intake these days, I waited until the next morning to start on the strawberry matcha latte, medium ice, half sweet (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=0O5eaeZuKxCM2GU2ur3cEA); this is a take on a flavor combination that is a signature one for a local boba tea company. I enjoyed this as the tea flavor was more distinct and the sweetness was dialed down. I would get this again. The other gifted items were the Hokkaido cheese tart and fresh sweet potato cheese tart (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=aVbAWdTtlPx0iEdMyWkNFg). Kiss of Matcha is a dessert café centered around matcha-based drinks and Japanese-inspired sweets…read more We walked into a cozy, compact space with a focus on matcha flavors, offering everything from soft serve and parfaits to lattes, hojicha drinks, and small desserts. The concept works well for anyone looking for a place that treats matcha as the main ingredient rather than just adding it as a trendy flavor, and the energy of the shop stays calm and inviting, making it a good spot for a focused dessert stop. The biggest highlight is the matcha soft serve, which has a stronger tea flavor compared to many sweeter matcha desserts. We ordered a cup and found the flavor leaning slightly earthy and bitter, giving it a more authentic matcha profile while still staying creamy and approachable. The Kiss of Matcha Parfait is another standout, combining different textures with matcha, toppings, and dessert elements that make it feel more complete than a simple scoop. The layers of the parfait were well composed, with the matcha soft serve, mochi, and crunchy elements coming together in a way that kept each bite interesting. The hojicha options are also worth trying if you prefer a roasted tea flavor that is smoother and less intense, and the hojicha soft serve offered a warm, toasted note that contrasted nicely with the brighter matcha. The menu has a nice mix of drinks and desserts, with items like croffles, mochi, and dango adding more variety beyond the usual matcha latte. The croffle is a good pairing with the drinks since the crisp texture works well with the richer flavors, and we found it held up well against the cream and toppings. There are also non-matcha options like vanilla soft serve, which makes it easier to visit with a group where everyone has different preferences, and the variety across the menu gives you room to explore beyond the matcha offerings. The space is smaller, so it feels more like a quick dessert stop rather than a place to spend hours. Seating is limited, but the cozy decoration and outdoor seating options make it a comfortable spot to enjoy your order when space is available. The indoor area is thoughtfully arranged, and the outdoor seating adds a nice option for warmer days. Service can vary depending on how busy it gets, but the overall experience is centered more around the quality of the desserts, and the staff are friendly and efficient when handling the flow of orders. Kiss of Matcha is a strong choice for matcha lovers looking for desserts with a deeper tea flavor. The combination of quality matcha, creative dessert options, and a cozy atmosphere makes it a spot worth returning to, especially if you enjoy trying different matcha creations. The balance of authentic flavors, thoughtful presentation, and a relaxed environment makes it a destination for a more intentional matcha experience.

The texture of the ice itself was light, airy, and not too sweet, which is perfect for me. My friend got the other preset option, Cereal Killer, which tasted just like fruity pebbles ice cream as promised. It looks like a lot when first presented to you (like so high and so fluffy), but as you eat it, the toppings start making the ice sink lol. A more manageable portion size after that :) Their shop is small with not much waiting room besides a bench against the window, and I think most people go to their outside tables to eat their shaved ice.
