    Lobster roll

My friends and I chose this place after our 4+ mile hike. We were starving! I enjoyed my lobster roll and the serving size was generous! The service was good and parking was easy to find.

Lovedddd the clam chowder! Packed with flavor, clams, and potatoes. The sandwich was delicious and the waffle fries were perfectly crispy. My husband tried two Oktoberfest beers that were nothing too special but they had a ton of options to try. I got a rum cocktail - I believe it was a Blueberry Island drink of sorts? But it was amazing! Seemed like some sort of mojito. This gave sports bar vibes and had some games playing. They didn't have many servers (7:30pm on a Tuesday) so the service was a bit slower but the waiters were working their butts off. Food came quick!

Such a cute vibe in here. Love the divey feel with the wraparound bar and Christmas lights. They served up some oysters for us and my friends enjoyed them. The bartender was super social and fun, making our time here even better. Good beer selection, nice cocktails, good music.

Fun and cool vibes. Downside was receiving a super dented can of cider. I should have spoke up but we didn't want to make a big deal out of it. Fun on a Saturday night with live music and a baseball game on the tv so our group were happy campers!

No wait, played banger songs and service was quick and attentive. OG smash burger was so good! Drink was also great. Highly recommend.

Peeked in here for a quick pint of local brews and to try some good eats! Tried the bowl of clam chowder and the lobster BLT. Clam chowder was tasty and paired nicely with cold rainy weather. The evening special was the Lobster BLT, which was a combination I never thought would go together, but was delightfully delicious and the portion if waffle fries paird nicely with it. Our server was extremely friendly and made sure we were well taken care of! Came in on a Friday night when they had open mic night with live music! Enjoyed this place so much we came back the next day for a hefty Mushroom and Swiss Smash Burger! Double patty goodness! After walking pretty much all of downtown Bar Harbor I'd have to say this is probably the best bang for your buck in town! (BTW kitchen closes at 8pm) $18 for a large burger and waffle fries guaranteed to fill you up! (Sorry I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture )

Casual dinner spot with live music on a Friday night. We tried the Lobster BLT which was generous with the lobster meat and came with waffle fries. The clam chowder was standard -- nothing special about it but hits the spot. I also had to try the blueberry lemonade which was refreshing. We didn't have to wait at all for a table and service was quick.

I came here for lunch on Saturday with family on vacation, after a hike in Acadia. At noon it wasn't crowded, was able to get a table for nine. The service was lovely and they had a kids menu too. Great pub vibes, had an open garage window for warm weather and people watching. Food was great! Lots of good beer selections.

After a long day hiking, husband and I were looking for a place to grab drinks before heading to dinner. We are so glad we stumbled upon this place. We both enjoyed several drinks, the pork belly sliders, and the mushroom flatbread. The flatbread had a bit too much goat cheese for my liking, but I loved the sliders. The service was fantastic and it just had a unique vibe - fun conversation and great music!

We had to come for daily happy hour from 3-5. We ordered $2 oysters (minimum order of 6). The oysters were good, I wish there was more of a selection of where the oysters came from. Margaritas were average and taste varied greatly on the 4 margs that were ordered that day. Our server was friendly. The Onion rings and ranch sauce were crisp although we found some of the larger sizes of onion rings to be undercooked and doughy. We sat at the open window bar seating that faced outwards towards the street, great for people watching and enjoying a nice breeze!

After a long day, we were looking for a warm bite to eat. Luckily enough, there are lots of businesses open in Bar Harbor despite it being the off season. This place was warm and had multiple options for food and beer and wasn't too crowded, so we hopped in. We were greeted promptly and seated. Service was quick and everyone was attentive. We ordered the crab cakes, which was one of the specials, and they were delicious! We then ordered the butter chicken burrito which was surprisingly good. The rice was a little undercooked but the flavor was great. It was a nice stop for warm food.

I would have liked to sit outside on their cute patio, but it was full and the hostess said it would be a long wait, so we decided to eat inside. At first she directed us to a table in the bar but realized it was very loud (music and patrons) so offered to seat us in the other inside section. We had a view of a bocce match and the patio--definitely better than the bar, but not as nice as the patio. They were playing classic rock and the people at the table next to us asked to turn it down, and they were accommodated, which made for a nicer experience for us as well. The falafel wrap and Banh Mi (v) were very good and the chips can be substituted for a house salad or fries, which we did. The dressing was light and I enjoyed it. The highlight of the experience at Lompoc was dessert. Although there was nothing vegan on the dessert menu, our server suggested an "off the menu" rhubarb raspberry sorbet, which was excellent! And doesn't it enhance the experience when you feel like they're letting you in on something special?! I'd definitely return and try to get there early (4:30) to be able to sit outside.

For food - I would say some of the appetizers and entrees are on the smaller side. I had the calamari and while we were told it was for 3 people, it might have been enough for two people at most. My son really liked the meat loaf and said its a great choice for dinner, but the portion wasn't very big. Meanwhile, I had the lobster roll and quite frankly it could have been better. We were excited to eat at a higher end restaurant for our last night of vacation, but the food was just not good. The restaurant is very cute, and i really love the decor of it. They seated us by a window upstairs which was lovely, but it didn't make up for the food. Our waitress was also just OK. The whole experience was meh. We ordered the pretzels and beer cheese to start since she mentioned it was homemade. The pretzel just wasn't that good at all. Pretty flavorless. I was going to order a seafood meal but settled on the chicken piccata. My husband had the burger, my son had the kid's mac and cheese, and my daughter ordered the dry rub chicken wings. I think they best meal out of them all was the kid's mac and cheese. My chicken piccata was just swimming in the sauce that I tried to scrape some off to the side. I don't know if there was something wrong with the chicken or the sauce, but I got SO sick after eating here. The wings were also overly seasoned and overwhelming. My husband thought his burger was forgettable and basic. WIth so many other great restaurant options in Bar Harbor, I think McKays can be skipped for sure.

My fish and chips were more fish stick than dockside catch, but the chips were crunchy and delicious. My partner and I had no complaints on the salt front, but apparently my aunt had enough for all of us. We snuggled four into a booth, sticky tabletop and all. My aunt would call the sticky table a detractor; I'd call it the point. The staff was prompt and genuinely warm, not just to us but visibly to each other; someone had to step out mid-rush it was seamless enough you almost missed it. We came back the following night for a REAL treat... First of all, Tony was our server. What an absolute sweetheart!! He had nothing but fantastic recommendations for us. He was definitely not your standard "waiter". He spoke to us like we were regulars, which we appreciated, considering we were from Massachusetts. We ordered three of his suggestions: wings, fish and chips and the spicy margarita. Outside of what was recommended we also got the beer cheese and GIANT soft pretzel, bangers and mash and the creme brûlée. First off- this was my first time trying beer cheese, so I was beyond excited. I hate pretzels, however. Guess what?? They were BOTH SOOO GOOD!! The pretzel was the size of my giant head and was so soft & salty. It really paired well with the creamy beer cheese. I'd come back just for this appetizer every time. The wings too, actually! I was a little hesitant because I read the word "dill" on the menu but they really tasted more like Buffalo wings with a note of dill at the very end. I think I might be in love.... On to the main event! The Smithwick's beer battered fish and chips... WOW. It was a little different than I'm used to (which was a great thing in this case). The batter was thick and crispy (I'm used to thinner) and the haddock was super moist. Very fresh! I order this meal wherever I go and this is definitely in my top 3 (out of probably 50 others). I was hoping I could switch out the chips for fries because, well, I've never had traditional chips before! I must say I was pleasantly impressed though! They were the BEST and completed the dish perfectly. My fiancé had the bangers and mashed. He said it was good and very traditional. I did not indulge, so I can't relay that in my review. Last, we ended the meal with a MUST try....the creme brûlée. LEAVE ROOM FOR THIS DESSERT! The top was a hard sugar coating while the rest was truly a creamy dream. I might have to stop back in JUST for this before I head back home! 5 stars. Definitely. 6 stars for service!!
